- A quick tour of the Ukrainian CW Paddles made by Yury - UR5CDX.
Beautiful craftsmanship at a reasonable price for what you get!
I have the Chrome plated CT73 and the solid brass CT599 iambic CW Paddles on display today. - Хобби
I was not aware that this key has been around for that long, as you stated the one was about 10 years old. I recently purchased the CT 559 in brass and really like using it. It is a great key for a reasonable price. I plan on getting the 73 model in chrome once he is able to get a reliable power source due to the war. Nice video showcasing these great keys.
Im not sure when he started making keys, but my uncle has a single lever CT that he got probably 15 years ago! He doesnt make it any more... Ill try to do a video on it.
I’ve just bought the CT599 in brass, what a wonderful key at such a reasonable price, think I need the set now! 😊
Yes! Do it!
These look fantastic and everything I see on them is very positive. Maybe one day I can get the single lever - I never could get the squeeze thing down. thanks for sharing!
Hi TJ, After seeing this video about a month ago I ordered a CT 599MX and a CT 73 MB. The 599MX came in yesterday and will hopefully see the CT 73 by next week. Really enjoy your videos. Thanks, Jim
Jim this is great! Also thanks for watching!
I have a CT599.
Nice work without problems.
I have the 599 like your plus a CT755 in chrome. Have settled on using 755 single paddle for the time being. They are nicely built and look great. I wish that he'd offer more options for the finger pieces other than only the Lexan. Definitely worth the price. Had a lower end Begali around the same price but was disappointed in it, sold the key and grabbed these instead.
I have some aspirations on getting a single paddle one of these days! Thanks for watching!
which one do you prefer and why did you buy the 2nd one? I'm about to buy my first paddle and can't decide which of the two. Thanks!
Great question. I just really fell in love with of the style and the beauty. I wanted two! Plus they are more affordable than some of these others out there.
Got mine 3 days ago. really enjoy practicing/ learning in it. Thanks for the recommendation! there's a little rust in the screws, any recommendation on how to deal with it, I live in the tropics and that may be a recurrent problem.
That is excellent! Great choice in paddles. I've noticed that to overtime, and I have tried to apply a very small amount of anti-seize paste. Seems to help a lot. When I mean, a little, it's a very very thin film.
I am interested in getting one of these. I was wondering if there is a dust cover made for them?
I think there is a guy from the UK that does dust covers. I think he specializes in Begali, but I think he can do anything to spec
Hi tj, thanks for posting this. Are there any functional differences between the
CT73 and the CT599 ? Looking at one of these for the CWOPS course. 73 ZL2EF
There is absolutely no functional difference. I think they even use some of the same parts in each one of the paddles. They are both great!
Hey TJ, tx for the reply. Been in touch with Yury, physical difference the CT-73 has sleeve bearings, while the CT-599 has ball bearings. Have a 599MB on the way ;-)
@@ebenfourie9057 very cool! I did not even realize that about the bearings! Thank you!
Ball bearings can produce more audible noise during operation compared to the quieter performance of sleeve bearings. BUT: The enhanced performance and durability of ball bearings can come at a slightly higher cost,. But since Yury charges the same ($149 + $34 shipping on his website vs $169 on eBay) for either in the brass models, cost is a wash + I can't tell the difference in noise with my buddy's 73 vs 599. I had a CT73 that was stolen from my van along with other equipment during a SOTA/POTA outing last month (Icom 7300 + other stuff) that I really liked. I have a CT599 in brass on order now 'cuz I just like the looks a little more.
What you use clean and polish your keys
The chrome paddle I just use a damp cloth and make sure I wipe it dry with a microfiber. For the brass paddle, in order to get rid of the tarnish, I use a product called Flitz. It's awesome
@k9kj I have the brass key thanks for the help.
Very cool key! I miss this key!
