gotta love wings, i've had a windrider ele-bee for over 2 years now, and it has hit everything from dogs to 6 year olds to flag poles to houses, and it still flies like a dream.
your new sight is great guys, love where your going with the sight too. Now I know you've heard this before but you guys rule. Absolutely the best crew and videos on things with wings.
@ReDnEcKrCrAcInG Just glue it back together. You have to reinforce it with tape. I add a fiberglass rod across the fuse and put Goop on the leading edge. Mine has been wrecked HARD and repaired many times and I still fly it. It's the one Joab was flying in this video. -Chad
@RKuyoth I use the Futaba 7C FM system for my FPV Maxi Swift. It woks great! I've been two miles away and still had strong signal. Watch the FPV Balloon Pop challenge and you see mine. -Chad
I had the same idea of mounting the transmitter and camera practically on top of each other in order to switch airplanes easily and take up the least amount of space but I also feared that it would cause a severe noise floor. I guess it is kind of suitable if you aren't doing anything serious. I still remember trying out someone's else's fpv system and the part that especially made me dizzy was the fact that it was a slow stick with an exaggerated dihedral.
Wow that nice piece of property to fly on right out of the nice house, damn im enveous just got into quadcopters and bought a Syma X5C then I just bought a Aerosky x350 and looking to set up a FPV. I have not ever seen these wing flyers before today.
Great vid, parkflier low spec fps but fun and cheap, Joab was alright, flew nice. One thing, maybe I'm just getting old but the lip ring, urgh, took a long time to realise it wasn't a disfiguring cut/scab from a punch up. Gotta say I like Josh better but Joab was not a disapointment. Keep the good vids coming and let Josh and Joeb dogfight!
hi guys ive tried fpv and i love it however iam really haveing trouble in getting more than 100meters and iam getting bored keep flying round in circles i have a f450 quad with naza light a 2.4 specktrum 18 transmitter, for my fpv i have fatshark teleporter v3 goggles 600mw emersion rc tx fatshark pilot hd cam 5.8 skew planar and cloverleaf antenna! what the hell am i doing wrong here ive tried loads of stuff to try and get a better video, maybe my set up is wrong something to near something else, pehaps!! please could you give me some advise as to what and where to put things or what i need to get a decent range !!?i was looking foward to maybe to go long range at one stage but dnt looks like iam going to do tht !? oh and also my cam keeps going to black and white rather than colour but on playback its in colour weired are these goggles anygood is it those !?when i first got it i had a 200 mw tx so i changed tht for a 600mw along with the duck antennas for the cloverleaf and skew maybe its those i power up with a turnigy 4s 4000mah li-po in the 4cell connector on the fatshark camra power but it wont record but it will when i run a 3 cell li po its driven me round the bend iam already bold as a cute coz ive pulled all me hair out lol HELP ME PLEASE!!!!! that was the cry of a desprate man !?
Nice video, so what is needed to start FPV? Obviously camera & goggles but what else? The HK site has all kinds of variations of setups and packages, but if you just want a goggle setup what is recommended? And what setup are you using on the Swift?
You don't need a locator to find your lost 'plane when flying first person view. Even if the camera view is no help at all, you can block the receiver aerial on one side and turn around to locate the direction the video transmission is coming from. You can find your 'plane almost immediately, even if it's lost within a vast area that would take many hours to search.
This was 4 years ago and the radio was spektrum so not hobbyking and it was dsm2 back the. So way more common to have lockouts hen but it's way better now!
I still have some FM Futaba gear laying around. Am I better off going with that on an FPV setup? I've heard some people say the 2.4 was locking out due to the 1.2 transmitters for the camera. Others say a different antenna would fix it, still another said it's a location issue. I know $50 is cheap to get into it, but I'd rather not risk $400 worth of money, and my time for something that is marginal at best. I don't have a $50 model to slap it on, and if I did I would still want more reliability
So what would the bare minimum for a FPV wing setup be? Is there an affordable out of the box option? I'm new to the scene and havent got any equipment..
I’m a newbie. It would be nice if you guys mention at list of the components that you use especially .I think would help you sell more. Theirs people out here that would like to try some of your products that are new to us newbie’s.
2 lock outs on the DX8, not to mention the reboot time on the first. Not good. Those plane locators are a must for some. Our field is surrounded by corn and beans and nearly impossible to even find a 30% if it lands off strip.
im thinking about getting into fpv. i need a simple and cheap fpv system and will probably use it on a quad. it has to be reliable and an ok range. is this the right system for me?
What do you all think of the FrSky 2.4 V8JT In the Fly Sky 9X for a radio? I see you use DX a lot and I would like to see what you think of this set up, it was just a plug and bind. I used the one for JR. thank you for your hard work.
Hobbyking is known for its lack of manuals. I got the fpv camera and the transmitter/receiver but little i knew that the transmitter is 12V (as it says in the case) and the camera is 5V (no info about this anywhere). They are connected by a cable that fits perfectly... with the little problem that the camera will get the full 12V and will be damaged. I did not see any comments about this in your video.
I really like that FPV setup. Does anybody have the link to it? I clicked on the HobbyKing link but it just took me to their website and not the actual product
One question Josh said that their would be pictures and info on how to make it on the website but I have cheeked and there is not. On your website you say there will be more detail but it is mostly brief. I hope you guys could fix it! Thanks
would any of those hold a fpv setup using my gopro hero with hardcase and fpv wiring? please let me know im trying hard to get in touch with you i have man questions, also mainly with my quad!! thanks god bless
@cod4madass Most likely it's the Spektrum transmitters and DSM2. DSM2 can do funny things, locking onto 2 channels, but using only one. Interference and shadowing can get planes down quickly. This issue occures a lot more often than the math suggests. Also DSMX still has more issues than the average FHSS system.
@cod4madass Yeah! Same thoughts here. If it's 2,4Ghz video and 2,4Ghz radios, then they were begging for trouble. For what it's worth, I sometimes fly near power pylons and they do not usually cause any interference. Worst thing that can happen is flying into a cable.
Good video :) Are those 1.2 ghz fpv transmitters, they looked it, which would explain your lockouts if your on 2.4ghz rc control. Bad design though, the vtx should be far away from the camera out on the wing. I wish hobbyking would get some real fpv pilots to desing these kits, then the rookie mistakes wouldnt be built in
gotta love wings, i've had a windrider ele-bee for over 2 years now, and it has hit everything from dogs to 6 year olds to flag poles to houses, and it still flies like a dream.
I have no clue what you talking FT...but guy on left seems so sincere, FOCUSSED and passionate about his thing...
all the best...from India!
Watching you guys since 2013, Watched this video today don't know why but it put tear in my eyes.
Can't wait to get an fpv setup. Joab did a great job, another crew member that makes me want to meet and fly with the Flitetest crew.
your new sight is great guys, love where your going with the sight too.

Wow! Yeah, great sunset video, but I was amazed at how smooth the flight is.
Nice job Flite Test!
Great job Joab! Excellent introduction to that side of the camera.
@RKuyoth I use the Futaba 7C FM system for my FPV Maxi Swift. It woks great! I've been two miles away and still had strong signal.
Watch the FPV Balloon Pop challenge and you see mine.
-Chad
This was on your website two or three weeks ago, still a great video! I am inspired to get a simple FPV system!
@jayc004 The signal was blacking out because they flew out of the zone for the directional antenna on the ground station.
I had the same idea of mounting the transmitter and camera practically on top of each other in order to switch airplanes easily and take up the least amount of space but I also feared that it would cause a severe noise floor. I guess it is kind of suitable if you aren't doing anything serious. nice episode... i actually like joab as a co-host better. he's curiously smart and animated... entertaining.
The other josh is meant to be like the noobie beginners and ask questions we might ask.
You guys are AWESOME!!!
@Eagleburger90 It was a fishing accident, and I have a complex about it. But thanks.
-Joab
u used to think fpv is poo but now from seing this video im buying one NOW!!!!
Josh Scott who? I think Joab did an awesome job! Keep up the great work guys.
@gluino They flew perpendicular to the patch antenna.
His fpv feed back then is better than my fpv feed today lol
Great vid
Is it possible to put fpv on the proto x quadcopter
Wow that nice piece of property to fly on right out of the nice house, damn im enveous just got into quadcopters and bought a Syma X5C then I just bought a Aerosky x350 and looking to set up a FPV. I have not ever seen these wing flyers before today.
@jodde73 I thought that the system did excellent with the stock TX antenna. I also agree that Joab did an excellent job with his flying.
Great vid, parkflier low spec fps but fun and cheap, Joab was alright, flew nice. One thing, maybe I'm just getting old but the lip ring, urgh, took a long time to realise it wasn't a disfiguring cut/scab from a punch up. awsome video.

what is the best beginner fpv rig
I'm guessing the simple scout. Nice open cockpit, mid-wing, slow flyer.
"so many planes i don't know which one to grab" you lucky little shart.
"oops I just locked out" he says calmly.... must be an every day occurrence with Hobby King products.
This was 4 years ago and the radio was spektrum so not hobbyking and it was dsm2 back the. So way more common to have lockouts hen but it's way better now!
Would you be able to do an fpv project on the Bloody Wonder?
Where did you get the smaller antennas from. the original once that come with the 900mhz are huge.
I was expecting some comments about the lock-outs / drop-outs.
Was it due to distance? Anything to do with the HT powerlines?
Any info on the locator beeper? Is it a ready-made kit or a DIY system?
have you guys thought about the locking out issue? is it the power pylon giving off RF? or the 2.4 Video tx?
I still have some FM Futaba gear laying around. Am I better off going with that on an FPV setup? I've heard some people say the 2.4 was locking out due to the 1.2 transmitters for the camera. They actually had another video about this basic FPV setup that already works! You just have to construct it. Its by HobbyKing. :D Have fun flying!
How does the SUMO compare to the Versa Wing?
Do you have any suggestions for a really compact, high resolution FPV display for under $300?
im thinking about getting into fpv. i need a simple and cheap fpv system and will probably use it on a quad. it has to be reliable and an ok range. is this the right system for me?
Jobe tossing!!! Quite a popular sport in the uk!!!!
@flyhalabi It was indeed a prop accident, and they ran out of stitches in the ER. :)
-Joab

God made everything. He spoke it into existence.
What is a good Battery for the Tx & Rx? and is that all i need to start? Thanks
Can you do FPV on the bonsai or is that too much weight for it

David windestal!!
One question

On your website you say there will be more detail but it is mostly brief.
I hope you guys could fix it!
Thanks
Jobe was pretty good at that :) Sorry if I spelt it wrong
how far does your transmitter go with those planes

Ikr I had a this idea there could be a huge stadium used for hell and quad dog fights!!
just feed it 22lr
can you put a link in for your wing set up?
what fpv sistem was that and what antenas did you use
@cod4madass Most likely it's the Spektrum transmitters and DSM2. DSM2 can do funny things, locking onto 2 channels, but using only one. Interference and shadowing can get planes down quickly. Hi! Whats the setup on te teck sumo if I may ask? :)
Where to get these tiny antenna?
Hey josh can post the exact link to hobbyking for the transmitter cam setup
I'm guessing the reason you had so many signal losses is because back then it was dsm2?
Where is are Swedish friend at have not seen him in a long time?
skullboi2012PlaYs 2 he went back to sweden
+skullboi2012PlaYs 2 It's "our Swedish friend" btw.

Im fpving The easy star 2 glider but i dont kno wehere to attach The transmitter does anyone have an advise?
Hi great film can you provide information on the FPV system so I can order one
Thanks
Can you give us a link to where to find this FPV setup?
-Sky
Where to get these little planes?
where can i find that beacon?!
