Several years ago I pulled into the local convenience store and parked next to a 1946 Indian Chief with original Indian sidecar. This thing was rusty and beat looking but completely stock and original. The owner came out while I was looking at it and he looked about as old and original as his bike. He told me it was a 46. He kicked it over a few times and cruised off down the road on it. I loved your story about your ride home. Modern bikes are great but not the adventure that something like this is.
Thanks for your channel. My wife left me almost a year ago now. She had retired me from motorcycle riding (how could of that type of relationship failed? lol). Well I purchased a bike about a month or 2 after she R U N N O F T. I wouldn't say I'm happier, but I definitely love riding my motorcycle again. Your channel is very inspiring, it cheers me up, it makes me want to do silly things at high speeds (I mean at the speed limit) and most of all just stay a good person and father. I love the bible verses thrown in (now I don't even have to feel bad about not going to church on Sunday) it's church everytime you drop a video. Anyways, Thank you! I hope your videos help the other million subscribers as much as they have helped me. Keep up the good work, y'all are amazing people.
hey brother sorry your wife left you and glad you were able to get back into riding. do your best to be the best Dad you can be, but one loosely put bible verse in a video per week is no replacement for a good church. Go find your self a nice community that can help you raise those kids and be the person that God wants you to be. Gods got big plans for you my friend.
Mine left me in 2020. Just got remarried to someone who actually loves me and rides with me. Divorce isn’t ideal or fun, but I’d say it always ends up better. Be free brother!
Sorry to hear about Mrs. Hoggwollop
Sounds like You are more happy now, congrates on the bike ,enjoy Your life!!
Find a woman who loves and respects who you are,my wife had seen me languish about for years not having a bike,so last year she bought me one for my birthday,(the bike I have always wanted from my teenage years) unknown to me she set it all up to pick up a "sofa" for the basement ,when we got there it was an awesome 1986 600cc yamaha radian,I love that bike, but love her more,a great woman is out there for you as well, don't give up on it.
On these era bikes at highway speeds, you have to snap the throttle off ever so often for the oil flow.
14K is ALOT, but I like it. Frame, heads , cases and front end look right. All the rest of the bolt on could be anything. The clutch is "toe to go". Your shift linkage is gone, but everybody messed with that stuff long ago. The header looks close, but, obviously the the fishtail got added. People used to love those things. Great find man, I love it !
Sean! I copped that same agv k3 sv with the snowman in honor of you and rossi. Love the content! Stay blessed!
Got the Best Laugh so far this year! Shawn is now the Official Haed Azz Rider!
I’m so excited for this, I don’t have plans ever getting back on two wheels unless I get a 40-50s Indian..
You bought and purchased a great bike and part of history....
Yes I did
super cool bike! If you ditch that 10cent horse-ride saddle for a proper spring post and solo seat you will be amazed at what a comfortable ride the old Indian is. Let hand throttle and right-hand hand-shift is actually quite comfortable and intuitive. The layout mimics cars of the era.
I plan on it
his mechanic trying to tell him how to operate the brake as he rolling out the garage. lol
You just made me eyes wet naming it after Burt Munro, thank you, from us Kiwi's who are still extremely proud of the worlds fastest Indian.
What a comedy! Bikes are meant to be ridden, not hung in galleries (neither should Warhols in my opinion - he was a superb self-promoter but no great artist), so good to see you out there; though I think the seller ‘saw you coming’, and I’d probably have put it on a trailer given the condition of the bike and the weather.
Surprised you were so poorly prepared to ride in the cold. Aren’t you in Pennsylvania? Not sure if this vid was dramaticised for effect, but maybe next time make sure your support vehicle actually supports your ride.
i literally did my best possible job to prepare for the cold and the only thing that was an issue was my hands, and i tried 5 different pairs of cold weather cloves , including some snowmobile gloves.
A word to the wise my friend a battery quilt switch is a very important piece of machinery for the old timers it's best to hit a kill switch and kill the battery then it is to watch the whole motorcycle go up in flames remember that once she starts it's all over with but the crying!!!!
Love it, bought my first bike because of your videos, now I'm on my second (a FatBoy) because of you. Keep it up. Thank you.
Love the Fatboy
@@BikesandBeards oh and it was the 2017 fatboy s, needed it as blacked out as possible lol
in 1951 my dad drove one from Fort Hood Texas to Washington, DC.
hopefully it was in summer time
That looks very similar to this cool painting made of steel or something my mom has and its a fancy motorcycle it says indian on it and behind it a shop called navajo cycle shop
I'm a high school kid but I really love riding a bike 💞
Really 😎 I know keeping shit original as possible is preferable I would think having some steal branded lines made for the fuel lines.
Cake bosses mother would have loved you guys channel.
😉
When is the video with MORR?
I'm 1/3 into the video and already wondering if you ever figured out how to get on 45 instead of 322
Haha
1m...🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏👏👏👏.
are those tacos ? i love tacos
I had a wife before who hated motorcycles and that was a horrible relationship. I found that my motorcycle is good for the soul and better than therapy. Love isn’t enough anymore. You must share the same vision, morals, goals and enjoy similar activities or you might as well be single. I have a good woman now who went through a rider safety course, got her own license and has her own bike and rides with me on shorter jaunts. Win, win!
💯👍
That’s win in my book🙌🏽
These “drive it home “ episodes are the best !! That’s the perfect bike too , thanks guys !
Glad you like them!
Did a lot of sub-freezing weather riding on a Harley Sportster, and a Triumph Bonneville back in the seventies. Once the hands go numb it's hard to work the clutch or throttle, especially with"three finger mitts". Today you can get heated gloves or throttle, so you might get to your destinatio, without stopping to unfreeze the hands.
This was awesome! Doing awesome stuff man! Keep it up
Thanks! Will do!
I just don't like it when he quotes the Bible and at the same time stages the video's, just make the video's completly honest. There not suppost to be partially made up just to make them interesting! Choose honest or maidup or quit quoting the Bible at the same time!
the classic indian chief is one of the most beautiful bikes ever produced. Love it.
I took a 3 year break from riding a motorcycle due to getting t-boned, but found your videos and ended up back on 2 wheels.
Thank you for reigniting my passion for motorcycle riding, and God bless.
Glad I could help!
True inspiration.. congrats
Rubber side down
Welcome back to the Highway Brother
Glad you’re able to ride again
With those old bikes you really feel the bumps, from taint to teeth. My uncle rode his 59 Panhead from Richland WA, to my place in Boise ID, and back. It ran like a dream but broke down the day after he got home. He got it running again, and rode it a couple more times before he passed away. His son has his bike now.
That’s beautiful.
Burt Munro was truly a great man. I'm glad you decided to name the bike after him. Oh, and the movie was great too.
The Indian chief was my mom's first bike back in 19 56!! My dad drove the electrics and the duraglides! When he retired from the Air Force army Air corps he brought home is WLA from the Air Force Base in California! And turned it into a barber in his flight buddies that made it back they started a motorcycle club called the LA beachcombers!!! He was into flat tracking and midget racing I was still working as an aircraft engineer!! I have lots of stories I could tell about my father my mother and my brothers perhaps I will save them for another time if the interest is out there to want to hear them peace and God bless to everybody my dad flew the p38 lightning and was quite a daredevil with the damn thing but he started out in the liberators and saw a lot of hardcore action anybody wants to hear more or would like to hear more just give me a shout back I like talking about it peace and God bless to everyone 🙏✌️🇺🇸
The question is not if you can make it home, is if your wife will accept your explanation on how much you need another bike.
hahaha she doesnt know about most of my bikes. i have a secret bat cave
....like...that matters?
You can never have too many motorcycles. Especially Indian motorcycles. That’s like saying I have too much money!! A good woman who supports your passions will accept a bike like this. A working driving well maintained 1948 Indian. Hell yeah!!
The perfect number of bikes is how many you currently have plus 1 more. Works wether you have 1 or a 100!
I don't have a wife, so I can do what ever I want. I own 4, but only 1 is ridable at the moment. The others in various states of rebuilding. Picked up an ebike, which is pretty fun, almost as good as a small dirt bike.
My dream vehicle is here!!
Btw, Am thinking of getting into Crypto currency investment and I'm planning the future cus I'm investing $2k into it.
@Chaboya Chaboya Wow!! You know him too? Well his well known in the UK and his stratagies are really good...
I really what to do work with him how can I get his number if you don't mind sharing it with me please 🙏

Loving these old bikes boys! Glad you made it in one piece. Looking forward to seeing how this and the WLA turn out. God bless from Wisconsin!
You and me both!
World's fastest Indian was one of the best movies ever made,I personally have seen it multiple times and will again,it's an awesome story of a man's aspirations to break the world speed record in his class, with a heap of his personal life thrown in,single best bike film I have ever seen.
i met the kid that he told to pee on his lemon tree when he was gone his name was tommy
Nothing to say, it's like a real ghost rider motorcycle, abandoned as a curse 😂😂😂😂
Man I love your videos. Just pure enjoyment. Especially these projects. You guys are such good people, and I just want to say thank you for that.
Wow, thank you!
9:28 - These 80" bikes were very fast. Not far from where you guys are at over in DelCo. (Delaware Co.) after WW2 my grandfather and his band of idiots raced these bikes down McDade blvd. every Saturday night all year round. He told stories of wrecking 1 day old Indian Chiefs and 80" flatheads etc. Wore out quarter inch leathers. They all rode to work down on the river at the shipyards, Baldwin Locomotive. etc. worked on their machines in the shops. After midnight on Sat. nights his brother who was a Ridley cop would shut down the blvd. and they'd race these big bikes, Model A hotrods etc. He said they'd easily do over a hundred mph which was pretty fast in those daze.
Those are gettin' few and far between. You should keep that one. Thx. for the videos. There's 4 ft. of snow here in N.W. Mt. but Spring is comin".
I figured it was converted to 12v when I saw the head light come on nice and bright. I like that you're getting into vintage bikes... nobody would have judged you if you had just put it in the truck. Riding an old bike you've never been on in the freezing cold...that sounds rough. I bought my first vintage Triumph last year and rode it home about an hour and a half, but a 64 Triumph is practically a modern motorcycle compared to the last 2 vintage bikes you've picked up. : )
it's fantastic you have more time to release more videos. Hope it's working out for you as well as it's working for us viewers. I'll be going to the US (i live in France) on the last week of april for holidays and I would love to meet you guys, if that is possible. As an excuse to go out of my way from NY, I told my wife we need to visit Pens. because of its historical value. do you receive visitors?
we do from time to time
@@BikesandBeards Great!. I'll get back to you closer to the date to see if you are available. Thanks
@@BikesandBeards Dere er drittsekker, Dere er ikke annet enn respektløse, selv ikke for de som støtter dere hele veien. Dra til helvete alle sammen. It's the truth about you all of.
It's funny watching you learn about old motorcycles the same way my friends & I did - The Hard Way 😅.
Hope to see you guys in Oley 👍
I really like the idea of the throttle being relocatable to the left grip.
When on the 49cc scooter with bulky gloves for the cold it can be occasionally tricky to get off the throttle and use the front brake.
Meh. Winter's almost over.
Thankfully, i got a B09R scooter and boy it doesn't like the cold.
The side of the throttle was optional, with a HAND shift and a FOOT clutch to boot. confusing, I know, No wonder generations of people were scared of the "dangerousness" of motorcycles.
The worlds fastest Indian is definitely a movie that every motorcyclist should watch. It’s such a good story and it definitely makes you feel proud of the history that motorcycles have and that you are a part of it. 👍🏼
Sean this year seems good for you, buying some beautiful bikes and keeping us entertained
God is always good my friend
@@BikesandBeards amen
The previous owner gave that bike so much character, glad to see this classic cared for
looked like a cpx2 in holster .. love these vids you guys r a big influence and big reason why i just got by first bike and started to ride thank u
Right on
Burt? Thanks for the tribute to a fellow Kiwi. Burt Munro is a legend. FYI My son in law has a credit in the movie for building the tailfins of the movie bike streamliner. He also received 2 tickets for the premiere!
That's awesome!!
Also congrats on 1 million!
thank you so much,
Early congratulations on 2 million!! Goals and beards
A million subs but where’s all the traffic? Wrenching/buying bikes can get expensive. They must all must be working to support their habits/money pits.
hahaha very cool !
Being your in Australia have you heard of the rock band FuzzPilot? Their co-founder/lead singer Shawn Trainer is an old friend of mine.
Like most, you have no idea what prodigal means. It doesn’t mean leaving and returning. It means recklessly wasteful or extravagant.
This is the one you should restore to mint stock condition from its current rat-bike status. I'd leave the modern ignition though.

Let's give the WLA a name for when they 1vs1 Burt vs. WLA.

This has gotta be the coolest motorcycle ever. The character it has makes the bike.
This was a really awesome and fantastic episode and I absolutely love the older bikes! They are just so fascinating (although I've never seen one up close in person or rode one - like prior to 1960) and I'm a huge fan of the older vintage motorcycles! Thanks so much for sharing this and I've ridden plenty of times in 40-degree weather so I understand how cold it can get, especially your extremities (hands, feet, etc) so you certainly deserve a HUGE kudos for putting yourself through that and making it! I'm glad you're safe and you made it! Thanks again for sharing and keep the content of old vintage bikes coming! Thanks for all you do for the motorcycle community, as others have said you have made a huge difference in peoples' lives and mine included! God Bless you guys and your families!!!
If you ever get the chance go see the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum in n Maggie Valley NC, you won’t be disappointed.
Sean, great content man! I’m sad I missed out on my window to buy a bike from you. Now that I’m back in the market for a touring bike, your video reviews are suggested repeatedly and I keep watching. Hopefully you make it back into the dealership game one day!
im sure i will

"To live life in the fear of losing it is to lose the meaning of life" Malcolm Forbes.
I like the idea of being able to switch the throttle grip on long bike rides to be on both grips if I were to rest my hands, or keep them warm with freezing temperatures, interesting that you mentioned how the Indian Motorcycles were modified for police to maintain a dominant side arm.
Another outstanding road trip Sean, absolute compulsive watching - “will he, won’t he” Keep up the good work!
I love the constant content hope you can find more nice projects like this that you guys enjoy. God bless you guys
Repeating others here - but AWESOME. Loving this vintage "will it run" content!
34° F is not even below zero in C but wind chill does make it colder
The World's Fastest Indian with the story of Burt Munro got me into motorcycling. I remember being 17 and watching it really late at night and my mind was blown by that man's knowledge and perseverance. Life is truly what you make it. Get busy living, or get busy dying!
I have been on my Suzuki SV650 for the past 8 years but ready to get my Scout now that I can afford it.
Thank you for giving us all quality videos and letting us feel like we’re hanging out with you guys in a sense, you’ve all got such pleasant energy
glad to be in such good company
Instead of Burt, it was almost Burnt!
That is one hell of a cool bike! Love it!
It sure is!
My first Indian was a 1923 Powerplus which I rode regularly, no front brake and 1000cc engine on clincher rims, thinking back on it, it was more luck than design that I survived that experience, my next Indian was a 1946 Chief that was my daily rider for many years, it was very comfortable and reliable, I had no hesitation taking it on 3 day interstate rides, the only reason I sold it was that I was hitting the service intervals monthly and so I opted for a Road king to get more miles in the saddle between garage stops.
Dude your channel
Has come a long way Sean. I really dig the Doc- style edits and humor here. God bless brother
I absolutely love that you are collecting these old bikes. Someone who really cares about them definitely needs to. I also can admire your fortitude for riding in the cold. I've hit my sixties and I still haven't learned my lesson about cold weather riding, but that day is coming! Remember to keep the shiny side up!
That Burt Munro movie the world fastest Indian is the movie that inspired me to ride motorcycles 👌🏻 amazing movie even to this day i still rewatch it.
I just bought a 1946 all matching numbers it's all there and it has a title. Now for about a two year restoration project.
Love this channel and the things you both get up to, wishing you more crazy adventures here from the UK. Cheers guys
"..it's a very well known fact, especially amongst mothers, that motorcycles are indeed the safest way of travel.." Bro know how things work here.
That's awesome!!! Hope you can restore it some. I know parts are rare. But old bikes deserve a second chance
That's the plan!
@@BikesandBeards YYYYEEES!!! I can't wait for the future videos.
Truely enjoyed getting to experience the ride, o. A old Indian “Burt”and the COLD factor …Looking forward to more interesting videos …
Take care my Friend 👍🏼
Sean and Team, this content is good! Been really enjoying more frequent videos, keep living this dream of enjoying motorcycles, and sharing it with us. Thank you for all of each one of your efforts to bring us this content! God is with all of you!!!
great looking ride fella, never sell it ever..but get some foam for that seat ....i was hurting watching you ride it,
Well done, you should look for the OME oil tank cap "it has OIL stamped on it" and when you start the bike check the oil tank for a return feed "And Please change the oil now you have gas in it"
Yeah what was that all about. They are just trying to clean the cylinders out by washing....I'm guessing LOL
When the pandemic is over and you can travel you need to come to nz and join us in invercargil for the burt Munro week.
Awesome. Love the lines of those old 40's era bikes. My grandad was a state trooper from back then, and they initially used Indians and then switched to Harleys. The thing about the throttle on the left and being able to shoot was correct, and something he had told me years ago. He stopped riding their bikes when they went to Harleys.
I am a bike lover , and hve travelled far and wide in Inida, loved to see you riding with all these troubles on the way.. this is what bicycle love is...
Soon nobody will ride these museum pieces except possibly in a parade....they just don't cut it for even the Harley purist ! I ain't no fun
It was plenty of fun, and once I fix the seat it will be more fun
I have never cared for Indian motorcycles, but I was genuinely cheering for both bike and rider to make it home. Well done on all counts!
When I was 23, I had a 1984 Softail that my then girlfriend nicknamed Babydoll. I still have the Softail.
Thanks for the movie recommendation. It was an excellent watch.
Love it, but that Indian head ornament could castrate you during a collision.
Kewl bike there's a movie with Anthony Hopkins he uses this bike it's an awesome movie just like yours it's a big thumbs up from 👍
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video Thank’s
First of all hella nice bike but the second thing is fixing itvup
Never saw the reason why you avoid buying Indians ,it got you home didn’t it ? Maybe it was the opposite, the Indian didn’t want you buying it
I love indians but I have had some strange circumstances with the ones that I got. But I Love this motorcycle
This bike looks really HOT. Loving it 💕😻
0:32 "Don't pull the pin, I don't know if it has a shell in it" lol..a little absurd to an Aussie. This bike is amazing though
Hahaha America 🇺🇸
I feel your pain in the cold. A week ago today I rode 258 miles round trip to trade a V-Strom for a H-D Wide Glide. The high temp for the day was 28 degrees. There was only one stop for gas. It is so good to see a guy as adventurous, maybe crazy as myself to prove to my wife that I am not alone!
You should come check out Springfield Indiana in Massachusetts
maybe when it gets warm
it was a blessing that you fixed the coil wire. it could of sparked.
Buy royal Enfield bikes and ride it it's goooood
That speedometer nacelle is for a 47 or earlier Chief, it also contained an ammeter . Your Chief runs a lot better than it looks. It even has working brakes . A correct seat is attached to a shaft with a spring that gives some comfort. With some luck, and help from Jerry Greer Indian parts, you could have a decent Chief but then, it wouldn't have the comedic value.
Get a 60s British motorcycle next!
watched until the bible verse came out then i unsubbed

I really like vintage bikes. Sean, you're riding much better. Keep up the good job and stay safe.
Thanks, will do!
