WOW, THIS is one heck of a really good movie, especially when he grasps the reality of his own feelings, and compares it to them Defendants case. I've never seen any other movie have this story in it before, and it is truly gripping in its reality!
I hate this lousy SPACEBAR THAT REPLACES YOUR WRITTEN WORDS, WITH WORDS THAT MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE AN ILLITERATE IDIOT. IT JUST REPLACED THE WORD OF (THE DEFENDANTS) WITH (THEM DEFENDANTS) !!! I'M SICK OF THE INCORRECT GRAMMAR CONSTANTLY BEING INTERSPERSED FOR THE CORRECT ONES.

Lillian Yarbo as the maid stole every scene she was in and caught the attention of critics of the day as well as special awards. Frank Capra hired her for You Can't Take It With You. Before that she was a well known singer and dancer
I absolutely hate how the "maid" character is portrayed. Yes, I get it. The bigotry was right out in the open in those days. What I can't get over in that nobody commented about it. They only remarked about her performance. I liked it too, but the injustice is hard to pass up.
The maid character is very important to this film, she is what you call comic relief in an otherwise dramatic movie. She was playing a PART, she was an ACTRESS and yes her character was made to look silly as a counter to the seriousness of the other parts. But if you've seen as many classic films as I have, you'd realize that her exact part could have been played by a white girl portraying someone scatterbrained and a little lazy and in fact there are many examples of that very thing in other pictures. There was nothing degrading about her part, she showed good comic timing and I'm pretty sure she was proud of her performance and glad she got the part. Not EVERYTHING is racist or "unjust". Maybe these classic movies aren't for you.
@@ladywisewolf3942 I have seen many classic films as well. I have also looked at how they were made. There is a difference in how that character would have been developed based on race. The majority of white cinema back then typecasted blacks stereotypically in all genres. They would not have cast Lena Horne in the role because she did not fit that stereotypical look that was expected for those roles. In a piece like this, the white maid would not have been directed to portray the character as lazy and ignorant because it wouldn't align properly with the development of the white female characters. The women are witty, not witless. A ZaSu Pitts portrayal would not work for this. That black maid role if portrayed by a white actress would likely be seen in a comedy or musical. That type of role in a movie of this sort would be a male sidekick in some law enforcement capacity. And there were a handful of black actors back then who could have handled a dramatic speaking part. It is more than viewing classic movies that makes one a fan. Maybe you need to learn more about them.
Oh, yes, - " one of those sensitive murderers' ". 😂 Schwarze Humor. I don't think you are supposed to laugh there but the idea is so preposterous that it's funny. The Description/Beschreibung is outstanding. Thankyou.

He finally saw the light- or the log in his own eye! 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼❤️
What a difference 84 years make in the rights of the accused to have counsel before and during questioning! 😳
Always a pleasure to see Warren Willam. Interesting story and many good actors. Thanks Artflix.😊
The housekeeper is the smartest one of all😁
And the only one who could act in this programmer.
I liked Sharply
Absolutely. And the best actor - despite the obnoxiously racist role she had to play.
Love your material!! Thank you!!

Great ending!! Surprise!!!
Directed by the great James Whale

I agree. The stereotype is disgusting.
