    OK! So now I can play those old 78 RPM records. Might be an idea to try a battery motor of some kind or compessed air or something?

      Something with compressed air sounds good to me. I’ll keep that in mind👍

    Music sounds good, what record is that?

      This is a German shellac recording of Jacques Offenbach's "Barcarolle" from the opera "The Tales of Hoffmann". The song is played by the orchestra "Palais de Danse", Berlin. The record label is called "Beka" and I assume the recording is from the 1920s.

    Where does the crank/gear mechanism comes from? Did you made it yourself or you bought it?
    I'm trying to build a gramophonesque thing myself and I just can't find a feasable way to build the mechanism

      This crank/gear mechanism is a weird self-construction of mine😉
      The shaft that rotates the turntable (a wooden plate) is a hub from a bicycle front wheel. The axle of the hub is fixed in a piece of wood at the bottom. The wooden turntable is attached to the spoke holes on the “upper” rim of the hub using Spax screws.
      The crank (tinkered together with a combination of bolts, elbow-connectors and other parts from electronic waste) has a wheel with a “rubber tire” fixed to the other end.
      This “rubber wheel” touches the "lower" rim of the hub and friction (rubber/steel) causes the hub to rotate when the crank is turned.
      I hope I could help you a little bit🙂

    How to make?

    • @Professor_Sperrmueller
      @Professor_Sperrmueller  3 года назад +1

      Similar principle as here from this video: ruclips.net/video/HJa6Ik6xmiU/видео.html.
      I made the turntable out of a wooden disc that sits on a bicycle hub. The horn is a plastic bottle with a screw-on lid as soundbox and a needle as pickup.

      I've built similar things to this and the main problem is getting the rotation constant so you don't get the wow and flutter.
      Adding a heavy flywheel is probably the best easy solution, but even that is not likely to be perfect
