"It's battery operated. Your friends are sitting around the campfire with acoustics playing Kumbaya and you bust this out." Haha. that one made me laugh out loud. Sounds great.
I offered mine to myself on Xmas 2012. Ordered it on november, got it in march (BIG shortage). I understood why, this thing is just THE practice amp. Every guitarist that saw it at my home bought one just after ! Maybe there is a better thing now, but I don't care, love this little thing.
I have this amp for at least three years...It is awesome. You can bring it everywhere and play. Out on the Patio, In the living room, Garage, Attic...batteries or plug-in...Anytime anywhere just awesome! Thanks for the demo...
There are a hundred patches with your computer and the USB connection but only five patches stored in the amp. It's also really good to use as your computer speakers. It also has an aux in for you phone or other devices so you can jam along. I swear I don't work for Yamaha. I just like the THR10.
I took mine back to the store and got a Champion 100 because I could not set it up to record with the software package and the batteries did not work. I gave up and got the Champ. Kind of kicking myself a little for that one, but now I am looking at the Blackstar ht5r.
Interesting, been looking at this amp for a time & couldn't believe it was as good as they preached. I'm am now a believer, sounds awesome, I want one!
I'm seeing double! I have this same amp sitting next to my monitor. lol. Dig it a lot. Keep thinking I might sell it, haven't yet. :) Had it for years now. Played a LOT of bass and guitar through it. Not the worst 'bass' amp I've ever played through ....
Crazy stuff...i just bought this amp last week and thought i must be the last person in the world to buy it...as it was launched 5 years ago..?!?...and here it goes...a new demo of the thr10...nevertheless..i can only confirm it is a great sounding small amp..and everyone says the same always..but this one is really really shockingly surprisingly great sounding...i had some other small amos..nothing compares to this..this one however compares to so many other bigger amps...really recommended..i got my new one for $239.. great deal!
..and there is this new Vox thing that competes directly with thr10... and it is probably very good too..but dude..wtf with the metro looking purse design of it...noone will ever buy it just because of the way it looks..whereas this yamaha thing looks and sounds awesome...
Down load the editor and enable the excellent built in compressor and tweak the verbs ,delays, and effects levels. tube feel , takes pedals extremely well too.
Brett, thanks for the demo. Wish I could play like that. Hi to Marty too! I had this amp on my wishlist on amazon so in a while I plan to try an purchase it. I'm into guitar and ukulele. Thanks for posting the tutorial links!
@@BrettPapa Was comparing that amp with the Bugera. This one sounds more wicked! Need to get back online with Marty's Bluesy & Hendrix course. Love your demo tho. You definitely rock the house! Thanks so much for the extra learning resources. If you do a tutorial on Van Halen's Panama, please send me some info on it. That's a must learn!
I sold my Marshall Dsl40 for this thing. Tubes are nice but the sound that this gives me at low maintenance, it can't be beat. I hope yamaha makes a 30 watt version with in/out and ability to use with a cab!
Hey great lesson. Definitely gotta get this amp. Have you done a lesson on how to make the guitar squeal harmonics? at 3:50 and 3:51, when you were doing Panana? How did you do that? I can't do it! Thanks.
It a combo of hitting your pick and skin of your thumb on the string at the same time. It also matters where you are picking on the string. If you have a start star around the middle pickup.
A+ Played it. Wish I bought it before my Fender Mustang I (which isn't bad little amp either). Why, I thought it had way more character and tones at low volumes.
Boss Katana is amazing and more versatile. It is a lot bigger though. The Yamaha is more of a grab and go anywhere little practice amp. Depends on your needs. If it is just for at home I would recommend the Boss. Go to your local store and try them both out
Thanks for the reply, yeah it's only for home use and I'm not too bothered about size, although I do like the size and look of the yamaha. I don't have a local store to try them out sadly so will be ordering online. As of now it's between the 10x and the katana 50.
"If your campfire buddies all have their acoustics out doing some kumbaya Bob Dylan shit, roll this out with your electric and throw down some Bon Jovi and they'll throw their bullshit into the fire!" hahahaha! I know I added some cussing for flair, but that was absolutely hilarious.
hey Brett ..could you please do a lesson on Crying in the Rain by Whitesnake...the main riff which I think is the first verse.... I have NOT once requested a song until now...thanks bro YOU RULE
Hey Papa, I just bought this amp from second hand following your video. But after turning on, I have a chorus/delay sound even if the effect knob is fully turned down... Any idea of what could be wrong?
World's largest ball of yarn??? You didn't say where man! Maybe I can Google it! Thanks Brett, that is a great amp, low cost, big sound. Great for busking!
You play some real cool stuff on this one, you really must have liked the amp... so do I, but I am having a lot of background buzz on hi-gain settings, when not playing.
Emre Emre noise gate when plugged with USB and using the controller, it's at the bottom of the setting screen. I have the same problem, it looks like a ground problem.
I know but this is too much buzz to be acceptable and dealt with with a NG. I think mine is an early production, and they appear to have changed the adaptors with these because of the noise. Maybe yours is the same issue. I would just get a new adaptor if I was in the States or UK, maybe you should check out amazon.com for that too.
Emre Emre I live in CA and if everything goes to plan we'll buy a house next year, I will set up a basement room for 🎸 and gear, something nice. For the moment I use THR with headphones mainly and with the Mac so I have the noise gate to help. But you're right with the power supply, it seems to be the problem, maybe some after market products could do the trick, I've never looked at it.
Great tones and skills. You're a top guitarist. May I ask why you took off the volume knob? Is it because you find it gets in the way of your chops? I have the same issue with strats. Keep turning em down as I play. Drives me nuts haha. Cheers bud. Good work dude
+Martin Jones Thanks! Yes that is the reason! Drove me crazy. I have seen people put a little rubber ringer on the pot shaft which supposedly keeps it from turning down.

I would check into finding a used Fender Road Worn, they are great guitars. Also the old tex Mex starts are great if you can find one. Not as familiar with the Epiphones but I have played a few and they have been great a well.
Going to buy one today. Looked at a lot of reviews, but cant decide on the THR10, the C or the X. I love blues, Hendrix, SRV, classic blues, but like classic rock. Every now and then I enjoy to hit some high gain metal also. UHG! Papa or anyone help me decide as a intermediate player?
The VH, " Talking About Love" anyone or Papa tell me how to get that sound? what pedal? Love this channel. Always dig the stuff I learn here. Got to check this amp out for an apartment like mine. Can you plug it into a/c?

Hi Brett Papa! Good Job dude!

Thank ya sir! See ya Saturday!
Thanks Brett! I love the Yamaha! Great amp, especially for the price!
I picked up the THR10X 8 months ago......kicks ass!!!!
Got to check that one out.
Jim L agreed. Have one myself and keep it in my home office to noodle in between conference calls.

Tons of features. Really is awesome!
Buying the THR10X tomorrow! Looked at a bunch of reviews. Should be great for my apartment.
Ya still have and use it ?
Digging those VH jams !!! That's a bad ass little amp !!

Was deliberating buying one of these for weeks.....your video closed the deal. It arrives tomorrow :)

How is that campfire story not in a commercial for this amp?
Just bought one a few weeks ago. Fantastic. I’m a LP player…..but thanks to you…..I now need a strat. Just subbed..BTW?..what strat is this?

Thanks! Don’t remember but I usually set everything between 4-6. I think it was on a British amp mode.
