Rescued an injured pigeon in September 2021. Nursed him back to health. He flew away and to our amazement, he returned to our home and visited us everyday for 2 months. We put food and water out for him. We sincerely hope he is OK in the wild.
Please tell me if the peigon have injury on neck area can we apply oil+turmeric mixture to it?
And what feed we should give them?
It is really heartening to read the many kind humans who go out of their way to help our injured wild life.
I found an injured pigeon in my lawn I watched your video and now I have helped him. Thank u sooo much

Hi bro an injured pigeon is in my house there is small injury or cut on his right feather his body is ok what should i do
I found a pigeon with his WHOLE legtside broken and he struggles to walk. He's so cute and I really wanna help him. This vid helped a lot. THNX!
I'm so glad to hear that the video helped you, you can also read comments for more tips, good luck!
Me also he is baby and injured by his head plz god he is struggling too much 😭
thank you for being so kind
Found one floating in the lake today, a mourning dove, that looks just like this one. It had been attacked, some damage to a wing and some side feathers missing, but no bleeding. I put it in a large box on some towels, along with ramekins of water & bird seed. Will also put some bread crumbs & crackers in there, feeling it needs some serious rest and recoup. Hope it makes it thru the night and will do whatever I can, maybe get a bird cage tomorrow. This past spring I rescued a few abandoned baby wood ducks (sadly they did not make it) and a baby goose (untangled fishing line from its leg). Trying to get that karma level up there, and love all living things, especially the helpless.
U r a very kind soul. Please keep up ur good work.
Friends:"Do you prefer a cat or dog?"
Me:"Bird"
Alhamdulillah, it's a lovely pigeon! I love pigeons, parrots and sparrows very much.
I have a pigeon in the backyard with a hurt wing I don't think it's broke, maybe sprained (it droop's). It appears that he is eating. I just don't know what else to do, any idea's??? I did call animal control & fish & game they both said the same thing they would just end the pain without looking at him. That didn't seem right you got to give him a chance... don't you???
Terri Romero Hello,
I hope it is not to late.
Obviously you don't just end the pain, always give another chance!
Let the pigeon stay with you, if possible, a shoebox is even a good enough "cage".
The old and known method of taking care of a broken/sprained wing, is to tie a stick that is the same length as the wing.
The best thing to do is to prevent the poor bird from further harming her wings.
The pigeon should stay with you until you see an improvement with it, if it is actually a sparin than it should heal by itself after a while (let's hope it is).
You need to feed the bird like it says on this video, also leave a bowl of water or any sort of drinkable flat container.
It is not too much of an effort taking care of a little and poor bird.
I really hope that it is still alive, please let me know.
Update us!
Thank you!
We found a pidgeon with a broke arm and some sort of parasite a few days ago. It looked like it was getting a lot worse and he could walk and he was gasping for air we didn’t want him to suffer. So today we gave the little fella some medicine to pass calm and feeling happy.
My cat attacked a pigeon and I have no idea what to do. It’s trembling and has some of its feather ripped out. Hopefully it can survive so maybe I can take it to a vet tomorrow.
Please protect ur birds from predators like cats. Birds r very innocent and naive while cats are....
I’ve just had the same thing happen to me. Its wing is bleeding. I have locked him away in my bathroom and will give him water and food as he suggested then call the Vet tomorrow. It’s Sunday here. I love my cats, but boy I hate it when he brings me presents. He has a cat bell around his neck too 🤷♀️
Thank you.
I just found a Ring-necked Dove last 2 weeks, but it crashed into a wall, but I thought it was injured, but in reality it was just dizzy, before I realize that it was just dizzy, I fed it Sesame and Seeds (uncooked rice) and also water. And after flying, it wants to meet me at the next day, and 2 days later, it was gone.
Please don't give them rice. Green millet is good for them.
i found a mourning dove with an injured wing, but when i try feeding it, it gets scared and flaps crazily. what should i do?
AMG Girl 💀?
Same i just found one today and everytime i try to feed him he g3t scared. Any tips?
Same I also just found a dove and it’s so young my cat got to it
I think you should leave food in there with it it should start eating it’s what I done to a wild wood pigeon with a broken wing and he flew off
I got a bird she is seek.. i can't catch her.. she can't eat what should i do?
Very helpful video!😀🐦
Good job
I found a pigeon that must've been clipped by the side of a car or something (i live on a main road ;-;). Me and my mother put it in a large picknet hamper with towels and tissue, as well as some mealworms and a bowl of water.
She seems to be doing okay as her wings weren't harmed, but she has a leg (half of her left foot is practically smashed) and head injury (we think she's lost her left eye) so we're keeping an eye on her.
She seems to be drinking every now and then, and we believe she has eaten a few mealworms. Plus, she's been cleaning her feathers so we think she must be one of the luckiest birds to survive being hit by a car (!)😅
We're going to keep her here for a few days while she recovers, and when she looks as if she can fend for herself, we'll release her again.
I found a very injured 🤕🤕baby pigeon..🥺🥺 Which has been hunt by a eagle 🦅but it was alive... So we bring it home
Thank you so much for your video

It's the second time I take care of a baby pigeon that fell of his nest. This time this baby has injuries on his wing and on his neck. It's not deep and I rinced It with water and he bled a bit while that. I'm wondering if that's enough or if I should use soap to desinfect It and bandage his injuries
I found a red banded pigeon today. I noticed it wasn't flying well and is missing tail feathers. I got a towel over it as it's not shy. Now in an animal carrier. Not sure what to do next. I own chickens, never pigeons.
My brother bring a injured baby pigeon. It's one eye is injured. So please tell me what can i do. It's very difficult to treat him because in our area has not any vetnery
hi there was a pigeon lying outside my window after being attacked by a bird of prey, she has an opened wound near her upper belly, under her neck, she seems okay, just very much in shock, is there any way of disinfecting it? or anything. The wound is not bleeding too much and she is resting with some bird seed and water at the moment. any help would be appreciated. tysm!

bro, I got a wild pigeon which got attacked by a cat.
he can't fly but can walk pretty fast
I put food (grains, seeds) and water in the cardboard box, but he keeps tripping the water container and walks and sit on the food.
what am I supposed to do?
he doesn't eat or drink.
but when I let him out from the box he was walking like crazy, but I am pretty sure he was not that scared but he only starts to make a sound when I hold him (not too tightly) becz he is injured on both sides under his wings.
You need to treat it's wound first, apply antiseptic on the wounds once a day for 3 days.
Another thing, maybe the pigeon is still a baby and doesn't know how to eat on it's own?
@@Bird-Nuggets yes maybe, but I tried feeding it but he doesn't open his mouth.

I’ve got a pigeon in my garden. She’s been there for 5 days now , the problem is she can’t fly , been giving her water and food. Any tips please
We found a pigeon in our garage when we left the door open for a while and we saw that it couldn’t fly. Later found out that its right wing had literally been burnt! We guessed someone intentially did it either with a match or something.
I tried holding giving it food and stuff but it wouldn’t eat or drink no matter what! We guessed it was probably too scared to eat in front of us so we left and put some food near it. Yet it still won’t eat! I don’t know what to do to help it trust us so we can feed it 😕

I found a pigeon in my dogs house, my dogs got to it, it was bleeding on the back and beak, so i cant feed it, it would only drink tho, what should i do?
Can you take it to an avian vet? you should put antiseptic on the wounds
Just found a pigeon on my walk to the store. It was laying on its back with its belly & feet sticking up in the air. I helped roll it onto it's stomach & it stood up. But it appeared to be hopping and limping so I assumed it may have a broken leg. It was also stretching it's wings like it was trying to take off but couldn't. So I thought it may have an injured wing too.
I finished walking to the store and told myself if it was still there on the sidewalk on my way back I was going to bring it home until Animal Rescue/Control open tomorrow morning because today is Sunday & it's Easter so they are both closed.
On my way back it was still there so I picked it up. It tried walking away but it didn't fight hard or anything to stop me from picking it up. So I picked it up. I didn't hold on to it because I didn't want to hurt it. So I just had it gentle resting on my hand. It could have jumped off or flew off but it didn't try.
I got home and put it in a box with some broken up bread and water. It wouldn't move at first. But now it's moving around in the box. But the thing is, it doesn't appear to be limping anymore. So now I am confused and I don't know if it's leg is actually injured.
However, I am still going to keep it until theorning when animal rescue/control can pick it up. They are alot more qualified to determine if it needs any medical care or not.
I don't want to release it and then it ends up dying from something that could have been easily cared for with minimal medical care
If it does happen to be okay than I don't think just one night will cause it any problems. I am not going to touch it, pet it, play with it, or just handle it in anyway whatsoever.
I have gone through something similar with a baby squirrel my aunt found an injured baby squirrel and tried nursing it back to health. But the problem was that she was always holding it and petting it and stuff and when it finally came time to release it she wouldn't let it go because she became attached.
It got to the point where I had to literally call animal control on her so it could be released. She had a few cats. So if she wasn't holding it than it was stuck in a cat carrier so the cats wouldn't kill it. I didn't think that was right and that it needed to be released back into the wild.
The animal rescue lady told me it's not good to handle them because they lose their nature fear of humans and that can cause problems and be dangerous for them so I am not going to handle the pigeon to avoid that.
I don't agree. Gentle petting, stroking makes them feel loved.
There's a pigeon that's been in my backyard for two days now, i don't think he can fly and I'm not sure how to take xare of him
Is it normal for pigeons to not eat for one day in the wild?
hey, if anyone knows a thing or 2 about birds, please reply ASAP
a pigeon came in my balcony (specifically a blue rock pigeon) and my dog pounced on it and caught it (he was an adult shih tzu, a smaller breed). my father quickly picked him up and put him in a tub we use for bathing our dog, but the pigeon flew and sat on our balcony, so its wing is fine. we gave it water but it doesnt seem to be drinking it and has been sitting on a perch in the corner or our balcony. what should i do? taking him to a vet isnt possible as covid situation is pretty bad. but if you think its something serious, we might consider taking him to a vet.
Well now can u take him to the vet?

Poor thing was attached by a cat and he was a wound on the back of his head close to his ear I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and then with salt water but I have no idea what to do next so I have him now in a box with food and water. What do I do next? How many times a day should I clean the wound? And I think he’s a baby because he’s not eating rice I gave him
Hello,
You must put antiseptic (polydine/Iodine) on where it is injured.
Just no more than 2 times overall, for example, apply it tomorrow, and apply it again two days later.
Antiseptic could dry the spot and cause more harm than now if used more then needed.
No need to use anything else than antiseptic.
You can go through all the comments here and find more tips.
Good luck, I'm here for more questions.
Hello i found a pigeon SOS ....she does not move ...... her wing is injured ...what shpuld i do pls ??
I mean a few days newborn baby pigeon he fell off and blood came out of his wings, and I think it broke it I still don’t understand how to fix it
I hope it is not to late.
Let the pigeon stay with you, if possible, a shoebox With holes is even a good enough "cage"
But do not leave her in the dark all the time, she'll die.
* About the injured wing, you will need to use an antiseptic or polydine for two days, once each. (Apply it on the wound)
* Don't apply more than that because it might dry the wound and make it worse.
The old and known method of taking care of a broken/sprained wing, is to tie a stick that is the same length as the wing.

You need to feed the bird like it says on this video, also leave a bowl of water or any sort of drinkable flat container.
* If it is a broken wing, take care of the wound first. After that, take a popsicle stick and place it in a straight way of the natural wing's position, use plaster to set it. (Search about it as well!)
I really hope that it is still alive, please let me know.

About the injured wing, if there is a wound you will need to use an antiseptic or polydine for two days, once each.
Don't apply more than that because it might dry the wound and make it worse.

Salvador Budgie my mother is worried about handling it in case it has a heart attack
Lola Field Just keep it in a quiet place, not dark and not too bright as well.
Do not disturb it, only when you have to feed it or take care of it.
It won't get an heart attack as long as you won't frighten it to the level of such an accurance.
Everything will be alright, you are doing something good, so think positive while doing so as well and everything will come out fine.
Good luck!
Salvador Budgie Thankyou very much I will let u know what happens
I’ve been looking after these 4 pigeons at my job and first started to feed bc 2 of them had mangled feet and I felt bad for them. They come out of hiding when I make whip who sounds and they know it’s feeding time.
My manager don’t know I feed them and one of the four pigeon was hatched from an egg. And now found a partner and has a new baby chick. Was 2 but one died and one day saw moving slowly outside the nest and I scraped up and put back in the nest. Then when o came back to work a few days later that chick had died so I took out of the nest and disposed. Then my manager told me that they were going to have ppl. to clean up that area and put up some pigeon detergent. So I got worried and I know the cleaners will just throw out the baby chick and start cleaning. So I called the animal shelter and they told me it’s against California law to tampered with the nest. But I said my job don’t care about that and know they’re a neat and still made the appointment for the cleaners.
So they said there’s nothing they can do and it’s also deadly for the young chick to be moved. So I called back again today to clarify the situation
I have a pigeon on a plant basket previously used by other pigeons. It doesn't want to eat or drink. I don't see anything wrong with him, he just doesn't fly. Help????
Should I look more closely to him for injuries?
It could be sick, I would advice on putting it in a different location and not with the other pigeons as they could become sick too. And trying to take it to the vet can also help.
Yo this helped
What did u do
I found a pigeon with his whole left side cut and it’s just sitting in the corner of my garden on. Top of leaves and when I try to Feds him he he/she gets really scared and flaps idk what to do ?
Hey, you need to grab it gently, whether with your hand or with a towel and use antiseptic/polydine on the injured area for 3 days straight, it's ok if it's flapping it's wings, just get a grip on it since it needs a treatment otherwise it won't make it.
And of course improvise it a place to stay, maybe some box with holes
@@Bird-Nuggets ok and also it had bugs going in the cut and I don’t know if it’s gonna make it but I will do it now and thanks
It's ok about the bags, wild bird almost always have bugs, just make sure to clean your hands before and after handling the pigeon

Hello,
No it will not hurt it.
You must put antiseptic on where it is injured.
Just no more than 3 times overall, Antiseptic could dry the spot and cause more harm than now.
currently I'm just giving him warm water and sugar mixture..what else can i feed to him?
Samridhi Singh
Do not give him a sugar mixture.
Instead of that, give the pigeon bread that is cutten to tiny pieces, or any type of millet that you might have. Soaked cat food can also be used, in case you have it.
Do not exaggerate with the food, just like told in the video.
If the weather is not cold at where you live, there is no need for using warm water. Room temperature water will be enough.
Good job and keep updating us!

Hey,
Can you take it to the vet?
You must put antiseptic on where it is injured.
Just no more than 3 times overall (3 days), Antiseptic could dry the spot and cause more harm than now.
About the broken leg, its best that an avian vet will take a look, but if you don't have the option you should fix the leg by attaching a little stick with a medical tape or bandage to make the leg go straight (you should leave it no more than a month) the broken bone should heal in that way. You can search for more info about how to fix the broken leg, i believe there's videos about it too.
Good luck!

The pigeon u hv in cage is same one I found… some kid must hv hit the pigeon with stone. It has broken wings… i live in place wr no such things as animal rescue or birds clinics… I don’t know how to help his broken wings..
i'd suggest foods other than bread like seeds and other grains etc. Bread isnt very good for birds nutritionally.

Good luck!
These birds are found lot near my house there are 2 such nests just in my house.
Once it flew with its mother and then crashed a wall and fell down, I took it and putted again it into the nest. It's wrong to put them in a cage.
If the nest is reachable. In my case ut's the third time a baby pigeon falls of his nest, unreachable and for the 3rd time I'm taking care of the bird until he reaches adulthood

All pigeons are doves (Rock Doves) but not all doves are pigeons. The bird in this video is a dove.
Yes, its a laughing dove, but it's easier to say pigeon and unfortunately also more commonly known that way.
We have captured a pigeon and now he is all good again and we called him Paul
I found a ingered bird i cant open its beak
You need to search the internet for a way to open safely its beak.
But first you also need to understand if it can or can't eat on its own.
I found a baby pigeon today who is injured so bad i feed her what you said (white bread) but she is not eat it can you please tell me what to feed i keep the poor baby warm and feed her water 😔
Helin aziz hello,
The pigeon might be too small and can't eat on itself.
Does it have feathers? Can it fly? Where is it injured and how did you treat it?
+Salvador Budgie i feed her barley today and she is feel better and walk in the garden she is try to fly 1 time but she can't her left arm have an open wound i treat it with a cream and i don't no what to do did i have to cut the feathers or bandage it ?
Helin aziz
You need to use antiseptic on the wound, apply it one time for 3 days and no more than that.
It might dry the wound and that will do no good, so no more than 3 times, once a day.
To feed her, you need to apply very little pressure on its beak with your thumb and index fingers just like it showes in the picture in the video,
Don't pull the beak or anything, just open it gently because it might break and then the pigeon will die.
Feed the same amounts we said in the video, don't exaggerate.
Good luck.
If you need anything else we'll be right here.
Salvador Budgie one more question is it okay to apply chicken antiseptic to the wound ?
Helin aziz of course.
1:25 - always pet the pigeon.

I found a pigeon on my balcony where I and my family used to give their food. I found that pigeon on the plate where he was sitting looks like he is injured from his head or maybe he's gonna die soon because of his condition. I and my little sister feed him some water. But for now, he is on my balcony, and let see what's gonna happen.
Please take care of it

That’s not a pigeon that’s a morning dove bird
It’s not a pigeon. it’s Dove
Thats a grown wild dove
Title says "Injured or baby pigeon" in our case, it was a grown wild injured dove, obvisouly.

Please guys, never ever EVER feed pigeons with bread! They need nutritious food. Soak seeds instead.
As said in the video, bread isn't nutritious for birds, but if you found a pigeon and have nothing that might work better for them, such as cat food (which people might not have), the best option would be to use bread.
@@Bird-Nuggets It gives them diarrhoea. There is always an option to buy seeds.
@@basialarossa Baby pigeons can't eat seeds on their own, they are used to their family regurgitating.
Actually its not a pigeon its something else and it "she"
