Hi, Thank you so much for trying to keep this pigeon baby alive. Newly hatched pigeons, up until about 5 days old get valuable milk from their mothers, from a gland at the front of their chest. Baby pigeons can actually suck the food themselves through their beaks, their beaks act like a straw initially, and then as it gets older it starts to open it's beak to receive the food. more quickly. So if possible let the pigeon baby suck up the food it's self, as it's less hazardous to the pigeon if you let it try to do that. It can be dangerous to the baby if it takes too much and it goes down the wrong way. Hope this helps anyone who has tried to help an abandoned chick.
Yes! I recently took in some abandoned dove eggs and yesterday they hatched. I've been using the Kaytee formula in a syringe with similar tubing this guy is using but I just put it near the end of their beak and they drink it right up by themselves. They will stop eating when they are full, as well, so there's less worry about over feeding.
its probably 3 weeks or so old. feathers are almost fully developed. the underside of wings has some white crisscross stuff, and the head still has some yellow down remnant hairs here and there, its big but smaller than adult. but problem is, it still chirps/squeaks, and still fed by pigeon crop milk. now it seems its parents abandoned it and any random pigeon that sits nearby it begs them by putting his beak against theirs but they don't have milk or are disinterested. What can be done?
Very sad indeed 😭, but we believe in you Maney you got this 💪💪💪💪 Just a quick note, I noticed when you were checking if the eggs are hatching, that they had some pigeon droppings stuck on them. The droppings can get quite solid and if the baby pigeons happened to start cracking the eggs from the dropping covered area, it will be hard for them to get out. I always clean the eggs to avoid any hatching issues 😉
With your good care and a bit of fight in the squeaker there may be hope. I followed a story recently where somebody raised a premature squab from a broken egg. The tiny little baby still had a yolk sac but with love and determination has grown into a beautiful fully fledged pigeon.
A baby pigeon just died 5 minutes ago next to me. It was abandoned by parents, i waited for 3-4 days since i thought they would return but when one of them died i took the other one so maybe i can save it. It was already so weak and i guess also very sick. The last 40 hours i slept only 2 hours to learn whatever i can but no, it just died 5 minutes ago. F pigeon parents honestly i am so sad.
Pigeon laid eggs in a galvanized railing basket which had turtle vine plant in it. and everything was alright until yesterday the basket overturned maybe rain or wind. Tbh, I don't know why the pigeon laid the eggs in it Coz it was really unstable basket. They were badly tangled in the dried vines. I didn't touch them but I removed the vines and used a dust pan to pick them up back in the basket. I am just glad that the basket didn't fall on them it would have crushed them. Now obviously the nest is distributed and moved after this incident. I cleaned my very very small balcony. Now the babies are actually in fledging and they are scared of any kind of human presence. They have lots of yellow hairs and visible black wing bones which don't have fathers in on them yet. It has been more than 24 hours and maybe 2 days, the mother hasn't attended them. Usually on our balcony she'd I will hear their parents and other pigeons flock and flutter. All of a sudden as if all of them have disappeared. I do spot other adult pigeons in other nearby buildings. And I have no idea what to do. Babies are screaming, pushing each other. They are surely hungry. I don't think they will make it Coz they are too much traumatized by the fall.
It is sad, i have never had to hand raise baby’s but one day if the opportunity comes i well for sure give it a try, better to gain experience and try to save a life
Sometimes the parents know there is a problem and walk off the job and sometimes they are just too inexperienced or just bad parents. I always have some hand raising mix available just in case. It is bloody hard work but very satisfying if they make it. The hardest part is when, despite your best efforts, they still don’t ☹️. He is in good hands and has a fighting chance. Good luck

What can be done?
You should blend the seeds up and mix with water to make a slush type consistency and use the syringe to feed it. Hope he makes it and you are the best Kurt.
So if the parents didn’t abandon the baby and they are still with them. I don’t need to hand feed the baby? Does the parent feed it by themselves? That’s what I am concerned about my pigeons
I'm sure that you'll succeed to keep the poor little pigeon safe. Dont forget the powder milk and électrolyte. That's necessary. Thank you. Your action is very human.
Because it’s so young ( normally the parents sit on it until it’s 10 days old to keep it warm as it can’t regulate its body temperature) it will need to also be kept warm until it’s 10 days old , hot water bottle if it’s not kept outdoors will do the trick
Have you tried getting the chick to be nurse by other pigeons you have? I do that when my pigeons never came back and we just put the chick with the other pair pigeons with chicks.
Hello Maney . It's very sad to see that this chick's parents abandoned him . But more importantly I would like to share a easy method of feeding a chick of this small age . In my opinion the syringe and the pipe in front of it can harm the esophagus of the chick . I have hand raised 2 chicks by myself and found a easy way of feeding and would like to share it with you.
I’m doing this just now….wee squab is 2 weeks old now….going strong. Same thing happened with me foster parents hatched it raised it so long then rejected it
I've done it. You can do it. Actually, im still doing it. Bloody annoying. Better than seeing birds die at this point. They usually killem if they smell bad. They smell bad from canker and salmonella. The adults immune system can mask disease much better. Im sure you know this, its for the beginners I say this. It can be so disturbing when your birds do cataclysmic stuff or die. Im giving my loft a 2nd hit of fluconazole today. With two great weeks of nutrition and flying between this first dose and todays, I hope we are set for fall. The birds sense the season change andnare going into a breeding frenzy. Note to self:order even more dummy eggs 2nite!
That's so sad All the best for the surviving chick But egg yolk for pigeon's? I thought they are vegetarians... U think their digestive system will cope up with egg?
I have Hurd that some people use the baby parrot formula you can buy it in pet shop for feeding very young pigeons people use it to hand rare baby parrots to get them tame it is very good stuff it has all the vitamins the babies need try that Maney
Hello! I found a baby bird left at my apartment so you know a place I can take it to or how would I take care of it so it can’t grow up and leave on its own
My racing pigeon parents the mom left or lose never came back but lucky i move the eggs to my rollors pigeon to take care of the eggs plus it hatch so they feeding them. They setting on four eggs 🥚 lol. Planning on moving the rollor pigeon eggs to the other pair to see if they sit on it.
Hope he or she makes it... regardless of him being a tiger grizzle or not should you give this one away I'm hunting you down🤣.. love your channel bro all the way from SA
Hi i have a just hatched baby pigeon and I don’t have wheat picks! What should i feed it ? Can i just put flour and water? Please respond as fast as possible! I want to save it
My brother, buy a can of mayonnaise, and if you have it very good, pierce the cap from the top and put a very thin tube in it. Then put the selilac milk and feed it to this poor little chick If you have birds that have chicks as old as this chick, put it with them, and they will feed it, God willing
If your best isn't good enough than you don't deserve to raise pigeons ! Make sure the baby's pigeon food is warm so that it feels like it's coming from the mom's crop !
Hence it is reqd to keep pigeon pair separately. Also Karma comes back, discarded their original eggs, they discarded the foster babies....... Learning lesson of life

I didn't pet the pigeon it was just that the parents had managed to lay a nest in my house and I only learned too late.
Very sad indeed 😭, but we believe in you Maney you got this 💪💪💪💪

Usually the thing is to care for the babies isn't that is particularly hard it's just that it takes a lot out of your day and time in general
Have you tried getting the chick to be nurse by other pigeons you have? I do that when my pigeons never came back and we just put the chick with the other pair pigeons with chicks.

I’m doing this just now….wee squab is 2 weeks old now….going strong. Same thing happened with me foster parents hatched it raised it so long then rejected it

My one pigeon coughs weird I hope she don't hafe the Corona Virus😅😢😐. I am from Germany and my English is not so good sorry.
How to you hand rear when you’re at work
Sometimes pigeons don't like humans toughing their babies.
Hi Kurt try some porridge oats with full fat milk and raw egg in it. That should give it a chance of survival. GOOD LUCK
Hello! I found a baby bird left at my apartment so you know a place I can take it to or how would I take care of it so it can’t grow up and leave on its own

do you know what it means when a pigeon has raised its ass up and pushed it against a wall? is it trying to lay eggs?
Never mind that pigeon just left without laying eggs or doing anything else. But my main problem remains: the abandoned pigeon chick
ASM,
Mashallah,
My pigeon not laying eggs what should I have to do
Did the other one die? Sad to hear about the sad news😭
yes it did :(
Maney Lofts sad to hear. Good luck with the survivor!
Nice
If your best isn't good enough than you don't deserve to raise pigeons ! Make sure the baby's pigeon food is warm so that it feels like it's coming from the mom's crop !
What do I feed it
I don’t believe in cleaning the crap from the eggs it can stick pretty solid ,and you could crack the eggs trying to remove it.
This is what I fear to happen, if to much disturb. Always holding the eggs or chicks. Some birds are delicate
I didn't pet the pigeon it was just that the parents had managed to lay a nest in my house and I only learned too late.
Hence it is reqd to keep pigeon pair separately. Also Karma comes back, discarded their original eggs, they discarded the foster babies....... Learning lesson of life
👍👍
Thanks!
You can take thinner pipe to feed him that will be easier for you ,,,,, so that you can through pipe to his stomach i have tried this
Very sad. Hope for the best. 🙏
Thankyou
May need to get some squab formula.
