I live below the Ohio River down between the Big Sandy River and the Little Sandy River!!!! You talk about flooding!! We had to close off flood gates and they still didn't help in some places!!!✌🙏
I recall driving to Burlington and Davenport IA with my Grandpa when I was 10 to see the then-record flood waters, areas much further North than what this video included were devastated as well. The Flood of 2019 broke the record in that area from '93 and again, inundated Davenport, IA and surrounding communities.
Red Star native that slung bags, and fished right off main and 4th street. The huge crawdads and turtles, giant worms. the constant smell of water, and sound of it lapping up on the bank. This was a sight to behold.
It was bad all over the midwest, we lived along the kansas river on a lake and it was so bad we couldnt leave. We were lucky we lived on a hill overlooking the lake or else our home would have been gone
This was thirty years ago and I remember it like it was last year. Especially when the levee failed and miller city and olive branch went under water. I was only 27. Still can’t figure out where the time has gone
The same year when the Storm of the Century happened in March, a storm the brought severe weather with 100 mph straight line winds through Florida and Cuba to a superblizzard with up to 4 feet of snow from Georgia north to Canada.
Some areas there had over 60 straight days of rain in the spring and early summer. It looked like an inland sea. Some towns were completely abandoned and today, they're ghost towns.
Jackson County Wisconsin Lake Arbutus damn broke about 12 miles north of Black River Falls Wisconsin that is were from are downtown was washed out back in 1993 Father's Day it happened 40% of the water came from the Black River that flows into the Mississippi in La Crosse Wisconsin they did not mention it at all WOW 774 acre lake Maximum depth 50 that's a lot of water all that spring rain that we got that year and that whole Lake arbutus drained out 😮😢
Was a great experience for me didn’t lose my house or any other property to the flood but my sleazy landlord took the roof off during the flooding rains then robbed us when he vacuumed out the rainwater. Damn felon.

😢 It is so, hard to believe this has been 30 years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday.
How dare you attack us like that? 1993 was only 20 years ago. (Let me live in denial, ok? lol)
The 90s and 00s will always be 20 years ago, ok? Ok.

When the Levee Breaks, like the song by Led Zeppelin. (1971)
Stacked many a sandbag that year all for naught.
