원대리 자작나무 숲은 속삭이는 자작나무 숲이라고도 부르는 자연 생태관광지이다. 1974년부터 1995년까지 138ha에 자작나무 690,000본을 조림하여 형성된 이곳은 숲속에 7코스의 탐방로와 숲속 교실, 전망대, 생태연못, 인디언 집, 나무다리, 나무계단 등의 시설이 있어 산림욕과 힐링을 즐길 수 있다. 입구인 자작나무 숲 안내소에서 시작되는 숲길을 따라 걸어야 자작나무 숲에 닿을 수 있다. 숲길은 두 가지 길인데, 도보로 80분가량 소요되는 원정임도와 1시간가량 걸리는 원대임도다. 등산로를 따라 오르면 수령이 20년 이상 되는 자작나무가 빽빽하게 들어찬 숲이 펼쳐진다. 자작나무 숲은 하얀 줄기와 잎이 빛나는 모습이 마치 눈이 내린 것처럼 보이며 하늘을 향해 뻗은 자작나무 숲은 이국적인 풍취를 느끼게 한다.
원대리 자작나무 숲은 자작나무 숲만이 간직한 생태적, 심미적, 교육적 가치를 발굴하여 제공하고자 마련된 공간으로 이제는 인제군을 대표하는 자연 생태관광지로 자리 잡았다.
자작나무 숲 안에서는 다양한 난이도와 거리의 탐방로를 선택할 수 있다. 가장 인기 있는 코스는 순백의 자작나무 숲 집중 생육 지역을 볼 수 있는 1코스(자작나무 코스)로, 약 0.9km 거리이며, 약 50분 정도 소요된다. 다른 코스로는 아랫길 코스와 하드 코스가 있다. 아랫길 코스는 약 1.5km의 거리와 90분의 소요 시간이 필요하며, 나지막한 언덕길과 가파른 숲길을 거친다. 하드코스는 약 2.24km의 거리와 1시간 50분의 소요시간이 필요하며, 천연림과 자작나무숲을 볼 수 있는 지역으로 가장 가파르고 위험한 등산로이다.
겨울철에는 흰 눈에 뒤덮인 숲과 새하얀 자작나무가 어우러져 사진 촬영 장소로 인기가 좋다. 어린이가 있는 가족 단위의 방문객이라면 유아 숲 체험원에서 숲속교실, 인디언집 등 자연을 주제로 한 다양한 체험 활동을 즐길 수도 있다.
인제 원대리 자작나무 숲은 입장료가 없으며, 주차장도 무료로 이용할 수 있다. 다만 입산 가능 시간은 계절에 따라 다르므로 주의해야 하며 산불예방과 산림보전을 위해 일부 기간에는 입산 통제가 있을 수 있으니 사전에 필히 확인하고 가야한다.
인제 자작나무숲은 주차장에서 3.2km떨어진 산중턱에 있으며, 걸어서 약 50분~1시간 20분 소요된다.

The white trunks and leaves of the birch forest shine as if snow has fallen, and the birch forest stretching towards the sky gives an exotic atmosphere.
The Wondae-ri Birch Forest is a space created to discover and provide the ecological, aesthetic, and educational values that only the birch forest holds, and has now established itself as a natural eco-tourism destination representing Inje-gun.
Within the birch forest, you can choose from trails of varying difficulty and distance. The most popular course is Course 1 (Birch Course), which allows you to see a concentrated growing area of pure white birch trees. It is about 0.9 km away and takes about 50 minutes. Other courses include the lower course and the hard course. The lower course requires a distance of approximately 1.5km and a travel time of 90 minutes, and passes through low hills and steep forest paths. The hard course requires a distance of approximately 2.24 km and a time of 1 hour and 50 minutes, and is the steepest and most dangerous hiking trail in an area where you can see natural forests and birch forests.
In winter, the forest covered in white snow and the pure white birch trees come together, making it a popular photo location. Visitors with families with children can enjoy a variety of nature-themed activities, such as a forest classroom and an Indian house, at the Children's Forest Experience Center.
There is no admission fee to the Wondae-ri Birch Forest in Inje, and parking is available for free. However, you should be careful as the time you can enter the mountain varies depending on the season, and there may be restrictions on entering the mountain during some periods to prevent forest fires and preserve forests, so be sure to check in advance.
Inje Birch Forest is located on a mountainside 3.2km away from the parking lot, and it takes about 50 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes to walk there.
