I wanted so much to hear her play but when she said it would hurt her, I realized I'd have to wait until we are in Heaven together to see her pick because I'd never ask her to do anything that would cause her pain. I fell in love with Mother Maybelle when I first heard her as a small boy , I sought out albums of hers and the Carter Family ,, I've been a country artist and do a lot of these songs and instramentals in my shows. Never did spell worth a darn.
This is amazing to see the Carter sisters doing this tribute to their mother.I read a wonderful biography of the Carter family years ago,and learned a lot about them. They had a ton of talent, and a lot of boldness to become recording artists in the 1920's. What a great set of circumstances that cousins Sara and Maybelle married Carter brothers and created this legacy. The bio was called "Will you miss me when I'm gone" by Mark Zwonitzer. That Gibson L-5 guitar is in the Country Music Hall of Fame. She played it for fifty years.
Just spent 4 days in southwestern Virginia home of the Carters visited the Blue Ridge Parkway music center and heard live old time mountain music so it’s great to hear this in the place where it’s from
Thank you so much , I fell into a rabbit hole so to speak and went on a journey and the more I discovered the better the story got. Their life story of a mother and her 3 daughters traveling around entertaining people, singing their songs, making people laugh, helping others along the way is a heartwarming story. Its amazing really. Look for the book hopefully early 2024.
I’ve knew a little about Johnny, June and Rosanne Cash. But I didn’t know anything about the influence of the Carters. What a talented family (singing and instrumentally). The Carter Scratch is something else! What a legacy for Mother Maybelle.
Oh I just recall so many of the old Carter Family songs. I love Country Music, and They’re as much a part of it as Johnny Cash. Another favourite Country Music Family of mine, is The Stoneman Family . They are another very versatile family.
I loved seeing this so much. I just finished reading the book "Will You Miss Me When I'm Gone" The Carter Family and their legacy in American Music. I had no idea that they put together so many of the songs that our young Jam Pak Blues 'N' Grass Neighborhood Band sings. This is truly epic.
I have been working on a book that answers the question "Will You Miss Me When I'm Gone" for over 4 years which focus's on mainly Helen, June and Anita Carter along with their mom's band - "The Carter Sisters and Mother Maybelle" They had a great career and life's story. My book follows the Carters through 7 radio stations. They were such a unique and most talented all-female family band that rose to be a household name that filled every venue they played. The first band to really tour almost all of America from Maine to San Antonio by the early 50's. Heck they were the only band and females that Elvis Presley opened for and was billed lower than on the Opry tour for over a year. They helped all these great artists in different ways along the way, Chet Atkins, Hank Williams Sr, Elvis Presley, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash and even Waylon Jennings later.
I just finished the book. Hadn't even sought it out but found it among things people had donated to my band Jam Pak. Due to the isolation of corona I've had more time to read. Absolutely the most wonderful story by Mark Zwonitzer and Charles Hirshberg and a sequel would be great. Really I am so amazed at all the details of their lives, musical and everyday.
@@jampakbluesngrassneighborh4325 I am having a great journey putting together this sequel. My book will make a great movie or 5 part made for television movie. imho

@@CindySweetwater unfortunately I am too late, the account has been terminated.
She probably had the most beautiful voice in the family.
I have always been a fan of Maybelle and the Carter Scratch.
I had no idea how significant the Carter family was on country music, music in general. They were fabulous.
Love this video and the Carter family! Hopefully the Country Music Hall of Fame will induct the Carter Sisters someday
Long overdue but I agree they should be inducted asap and join their blue eyed mom
It truly is time, I agree.
If tgey have not then it's not a legitimate hall of fame. Like the poor commercial driven so called rock hall of fame.
The Carters were beautiful.COULD SING BEAUTIFUL ALSO.CARTER FAMILY WE NEEED MORE SINGERS LIKE YOU❤❤❤❤❤RIP..
What an amazing Musical Family!!!!! CHEERS!!!!
Helen and antia carter had the most beautifull i ever heard
I miss these beautiful people.
Such an amazing group of diverse talents. Brilliant documentary, thanks so much for sharing.
You're so welcome and I couldn't agree more.
What a wonderful documentary with the Carter Family!
Hi Bonnie
I fell in love with Mother Maybelle when I first heard her as a small boy , I sought out albums of hers and the Carter Family ,, I've been a country artist and do a lot of these songs and instramentals in my shows. Never did spell worth a darn.
Thanks for your story !
is your music on apple or Spotify?
I always get around to this little film every few months i love it, The Carter Cash legacy will live forever i think.
I hope so.
Too great for words.
Mother maybelle was absolutely gorgeous!
Four amazingly talented women.Learned much from this post.Thanks.🎵
This is amazing to see the Carter sisters doing this tribute to their mother.I read a wonderful biography of the Carter family years ago,and learned a lot about them. They had a ton of talent, and a lot of boldness to become recording artists in the 1920's.
What a great set of circumstances that cousins Sara and Maybelle married Carter brothers and created this legacy.
The bio was called "Will you miss me when I'm gone" by Mark Zwonitzer.
That Gibson L-5 guitar is in the Country Music Hall of Fame. She played it for fifty years.
THIS IS THE HEART AND SOUL OF WHAT THIS COUNTRY ONCE WAS. NEVER TO BE AGAIN.
IT WAS SAID IT'S NOT WHO VOTES, IT'S WHO COUNTS THE VOTES.
Just spent 4 days in southwestern Virginia home of the Carters visited the Blue Ridge Parkway music center and heard live old time mountain music so it’s great to hear this in the place where it’s from
Wow! Great musical talent and everyone can sing. Great documentary.
It’s amazing how colorizing these videos really bring them all to life.
Thanks for keeping this music and memories alive Tony. This is the best hour I've had in a long time and it conjured up some tears.
What a legacy for Mother Maybelle.
missing them dearly .. sweet memories always cherish
Hey Mary how are you?
Mother Maybelle had the most amazing eyes.
Hey Jeannie how are you doing
Oh I just recall so many of the old Carter Family songs. I love Country Music, and
They’re as much a part of it as Johnny Cash. Another favourite Country Music
Family of mine, is The Stoneman Family .
So thankful I can watch this, I love this so much.
My book will make a great movie or 5 part made for television movie. imho
Merci de réaliser le vœu de tous les 'Fous de country music" Et elles étaient belles aussi . Je reste béat d'admiration. Bravo les filles!!!!
This is precious stuff!!! Thanx from Italy....can you believe that someone is playin' these songs there in 2019 :) Oh and yes Anita was a real beauty and Maybelle had the saddest eyes I've ever seen
He's solid gone ,, love how she talks as much as how she plays and sings .. thanks too for the little lesson on picking
Hi there👋👋👋👋how are you doing and I really hope you don’t mind me texting?
Wonderful musical heritage never forget I am Scottish and my great granparents had a piano an organ piano accordion and violin with 10 children making melody in their heart to the Lord
Much respect to all these ladies.
Just found it.😅I feel blessed. Andrew. Perrsimon tree in Alabama,
This was a great upload, there’s something new to learn about the Carter’s even years after the events themselves. Truly gifted and humble talents.
That is SO true!
Around 1956 as a young boy in a small cowboy town outside Edmonton , Alberta , in Canada my Great Grandma would turn the radio on and I remember listening to the Carter Family , I was around 4 years old . Now in 2020 I'm watching the people I could only hear on the radio and now see all of them in this great story about their lives . It's been a long road !
wow her eyes in the hummingbird song are mesmerizingly beautiful
Hummingbird song By the Carter family
I love the Humming Bird Song. Mother Maybelle's eyes and voice are the best. June inherited her blue eyes.
@@daylewashington2482 .
You are my Flower is my favourite Carter Family song among all their wonderful songs .Great documentary. Beautiful guitar player was Mother Maybelle
Whoever said RUclips is the closest thing to a time machine was right
Thank you so very much for sharing this outstanding video. Tears of joy are falling in appreciation.
Hello, how are you doing my friend?
Absolutely wonderful too hear. My parents loved the Carter family,@ I guess I did to. Only thing was I was too young to realize it, at the time. The Duc. I probably heard or watched, before but alas I had forgotten it. Thanks for the memories, you brought back. They are golden ones. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yes! She sure did have beautiful eyes!!
Absolutely fabulous. So glad I caught this. Thanks for sharing it.
Absolutely amazingly beautiful.
Mother Maybelle's eye were absolutely stunning.
Sure were. Million dollar eyes.
Mother maybellescarter play
Lillian Galle, I agree.
I’m thinking tonight of her blue eyes
I was just noticing this. My sister-in-law has the same color eyes. They just grab you the second you look at her. My lovely niece has them as well. My eyes are blue, but nothing noticeably different about them. Miss Maybelle's eyes were just incredible!
I'm one proud Virginian watching the story of my state's legends.
As you should be !
Anita has the sweetest voice if she wanted she could have become the top female artist in her time but she didn't want that fame she knew she would have had to give up her family group and go out on her own she didn't do that she stay with her mom and sister very humble lady and very pretty miss all of them
