I actually don't have any personal experience with that because I only have level 80 characters, but my friends and guildies say that it definitely makes a difference and that you get better mats from the bags when you use a lower level alt. I'll try it when I have a character slot to make a lower level character with but for now all I have are 80s :/
@@Fayrah so I tried this last night and I'm confused. Do we salvage all the stuff we get from the bags.. does it matter what kind of salvage kit? Then we sell all the material?
@@h3xt0r63 I salvage almost everything, yes. If a rare will give me more than 50 silver I'll sell that straight out, and if I get an exotic that will give me about a gold then I'll sell that also. Otherwise I salvage everything. I'm not sure if salvage kits make a difference or not actually. I use the copper fed salvage o matic for masterwork and lower, silver fed for rares, and black lion salvage kits for exotics. If you don't have the infinite salvage kits I highly recommend them just because they take up less space and you never have to worry about running out. But if you don't have them and can't get them, I'd recommend making some of the mystic salvage kits and using those for everything other than exotics, then black lion salvage kits for exotics. The higher your salvage kit the better chance you have of getting better things from them (at least that's what I was told when I got them). Once i salvage everything I go to a crafting station and refine everything because refined mats (like metals, woods, leathers) sell for more than the components used to make them in general. Then I sell everything including the ectos that I got from the rares, the t6 mats I got as drops, and all the mats. I also make sure to refine all my sand at a jeweler and make glass mugs because those give you a bit extra as they're needed for guild hall upgrades.

yo boi mirage has a special mechanic called mirage cloak that replaces their normal dodge roll. It produces a special attack with the auto attack that varies depending on whatever weapon the mirage is using. Greatswords special attack is called split surge and it essentially sends out a crap ton of beams to a ton of different targets. It’s one of the best tagging abilities in the game, even better then a engis flamethrower because it has 1200 range

Hey, great video! I personally love the Silverwastes a lot, too, because the meta helped me to farm and adjust when I first hit Level 80 a few years back. It's nice to see that it's still worthwhile playing for the amount of gold you get out of it!

Save up nightmare keys & open chests with merchants in tow 6. Open loot bags inside inventory while still in silverwastes b/c of silverwastes buff
Fayrah: *makes 38g/hr in SW* Me: *makes 6g/hr in SW if I'm lucky* I honestly don't understand how people are getting 20+ gold/hour in Silverwastes and Istan. The Skritt tunnel thing was new for me though, but I don't know which tunnel you are referring to in order to head towards the labyrinth.
Thanks for the location info! Yeah, I'm completely salvaging/selling everything at sell price, but I've never made Istan or SW over 10g/hr. I've even tried opening bags on a level 49 toon, and even then it's marginal.

@@Fayrah Works pretty good actually. RIBA takes a lot of time, but you'll get many T5 itens for mystic forge, forge them into T6 and voilà, bonus gold.
Damn, looking at it like this makes gems look worth it. I haven't bought the expansions yet(returning to game after years), but I think I'll get the $80 one so I get 4k gems and a slot...
Commenting again after seeing this video three weeks ago. I farmed for few hours every Saturdays and just a few steps enough for a precursor. Aside from the things stated by the video, here are some things that I would like to share to those who only gets 6g-10g/hr: 1. Once you get the rares, check their selling price to TP, if it's around or more than the price of Ectos, sell it. If it sells too cheap, salvage it in hopes of getting some ectos, then sell the ectos at TP. 2. Exotics can either be sold to TP or straight up salvaged for Dark Matters. If you are crafting Ascended then weigh your options carefully. 3. REFINE THE MATS after salvaging them, then sell at selling price. :D

This is terrific, thank you! I'll watch it again and take notes. I played on and off at low level free game for 2 years, and just got myself the pay to play for xmas after reaching free 80 and had nothing else to do. Now I have people helping me, like telling me to take notes, keep a plan, and things like nayan timia just said. Now I'm driven, ambition and ego have kicked in and I'm having a blast.

@@Fayrah PvP while playing free, but getting my butt kicked immediately wasn't fun. Out weaponed, out armored and no one to coach. It and fractals are on my list, after I finish a few masterys I need.
Two things should be mentioned... 1) Indigo if you have a strong Indigo it makes the rest of getting to Breach much easier.. basically it can act as an anchor for the whole map and 2) the mid route in the Vinewrath Meta if you got a good crew that takes that down the first time it makes it easy to finish the Vinewrath. I've seen more map fall apart because of failure at mid than any other boss. Great guide by the way.
You're absolutely right. Mid is definitely the lane that fails the most and if mid fails half the time it doesn't bode well for the rest of the meta. I also totally agree that indigo is a great anchor/indicator of the meta in general. Strong group at indigo makes me really confident about the meta no matter what because it usually shows that the people know what they're doing so the whole meta should fall into place easily.
I've done this dang farm since SW was released, dumping hundreds of hours into it and have yet to loot the stupid queen bee. Was a nice guide, came here to check on how this farm was doing now that Istan got killed
I feel that infusion struggle honestly. I've seen a lot more activity in the Silverwastes over the last couple weeks, so that's reassuring. Hopefully Anet doesn't nerf this one also Q_Q
There's one thing I struggled to figure out about SW, so just in case anyone else is wondering... The mechanics of the events for gathering ammo are pretty obvious for the southern and middle lanes, but for the northern lane, what you have to do is dodge roll into the coconut trees - that's what makes the coconuts fall down, and those are the ammunition.
Coconuts. The best form of ammunition there is. That one took me a while to figure out also. And ammo is pretty important, so thanks for throwing that tip out there for everyone!
Instead of explaining everything in 30mins video, you could upload 1h full run with all the bags opening, so we can actually see your 25, 38 or whatever gold per hour profit.
I could do that on a stream, or make another video that's just a full farm run for this if that's something people want. The only problem with making videos that are longer is that people generally won't watch them for the actual content that I wanted to give. Even this one is pretty lengthy, honestly. But doing things like that could be better suited for a stream or even a secondary video where people know that that's what they can expect. Do you have a preference between a stream or a video?
I actually have a silverwastes stream planned for the 9th with one of my guilds that I'll be helping to run over on Twitch, so I'll be sure to open my bags and show my profit on the stream.
Honestly I didn't think anyone would want to watch a video that long. I'll be streaming a silverwastes RIBA farm on saturday though and I'll use the footage to make a video like that though.
I remember being really active in this meta back when it first came out, now a days I just harvest the wood and ore nodes. Nice to see some people are still participating in it. Might join in the fight if I get lucky enough to find an active map.

Good video, i would add that the tracking of the vinewrath can be bypassed when you are a ranged class with fast long range attacks. Mount up and s get atop the walls leading to the main chamber. Just before the spot you get teleported away from. Pop some speed cooldowns or teleports and jump in while spamming your fastest long range attacks. If you hit the mob once - you get all the loot. Every meta i get credit from all 3 champions.
I have all the expansion and honestly my best gold farming map is Auric Basin, you get more chests than Silverwastes and the meta is more profitable and more populated and you can farm mastery for your glider as well.
Very good video. I stopped playing right after this map was opened, sometime in early 2015, I think. coming back to the game now, it's super useful to have a whole map explained like this. Your explanation is clear, the tone is relaxed, humorous in good proportion. You clearly have detailed knowledge of the mechanics and mobs/bosses, so the tips are super valuable. I'm probably gonna have to have the video on while playing because there's no way I can remember all this great info. I'm subscribing in (selfish) hopes of other guides to other maps! Yeah, Silverwastes has been one of my go-to farms for years. It's really great, I just hate that some days you get really lucky with your drops and can make a ton of gold, but other times you make the minimum. I think the most I made was like almost 500g from farming all day, though I can't remember how many hours that was. That...also was the day I got my precursor drop though so that influenced that lol.
@@Fayrah That's lucky in my book. I've played this game for 5 years, farmed SW for hours on end since the beginning and yet I haven't had a single precursor drop for me yet. I have a deep and personal enmity with RNG.
It took me about 4 years to get that precursor drop, and it came from the skritt burglar of all things! I couldn't believe it. No luck on the Queen Bee though. I know someone who got that infusion twice and I'm just... shocked. I knew of someone else who got precursors spit out of the forge like candy. She literally just spent like 3-5 mins at the forge to get the precursors she wanted meanwhile I spent months at the mystic toilet trying to get the leaf of kudzu before I gave up and just used my debit card to get the gold and buy it. I have zero luck with the forge.
@@Fayrah I can completely relate. My friends always tell me to use the forge but I stay at least half a map away from the thing. I already lost a couple dozen exotics to that thing and the one time I crafted all 77 clovers for a legendary, I had to spend almost 2 stacks of mystic coins. Mystic forge and me? Nope. No way.
GOD Yeah. I just get my clovers from other ways because I hate playing Mystic Forge Lottery for ANYTHING. Unless it's guaranteed to give me something, like when using it to craft or infuse/attune things, then nope! My friends give me crap for it too, but they don''t have the bad luck I have. The last time I tried to make clovers I spent all my coins and got like...20 clovers. That's it. Never again.
it is better to spend crests on more keys, also buy the random extraction device and trade the parts for more crests so when u have enough keys and shovels, do the chest farm :-)
so after i salvage all the loot where do I sell them ? at the trade post or to some npc merchant? Also are those salvages really so costly that they give gold after selling them?

We haven't set a specific time but I'll probably pop into the map around 10 am pacific time. We wanted to do a day long farm and then people wanted to get the magic find boosts for opening their lucky envelopes.

I'm pretty new to guild wars. Just bought the two expansions a couple of days ago. I don't even have a level 80 character yet (64 rn). I do want to have a couple hundred gold to spare eventually, so I can use that to buy the living world seasons (kinda broke rn ngl). Can you suggest a good farm for me? I have around 3-4 hours a day to spare for gw2. Or should I just stick to pvp for getting gold?. Is the silverwastes gold farm, or that istan gold farm efficient for a new player?
it really depends on your playstyle and how bored you get with farming, to be honest. I don't think Istan is a very viable gold farm anymore, from what i've heard. If you have about 3-4 hours a day I'd probably alternate between silverwastes and PvP depending on if you can find a sw map that's going at the time, or what you feel up to doing that day. Doing the same thing every day will get really boring really fast, but both of those options seem to be good ways to get gold if you enjoy them :) Also, welcome to the game! I am in this exact same position.New player.Boosted my necro to 80 and having a lot of fun completing my personal story (upto lvl 70 atm) and I just want gems to get living world seasons but I can't buy more so I need to go farm somewhere.
I really don't get how people get 40g when I get like 4-6g roughly and like 15g if I played for 3 hours. Do you sell the rares or salavge them? Do you sell everything? Or salavge everything and then sell everything you get? I'm so confused.
These are both great tips if you're having trouble getting gold. I sell rares if they give me over 30 silver on the tp, and exotics if they're over a gold. Otherwise I salvage and then sell the ectos. I also refine the mats you get from salvaging because you get more gold for refined mats compared to the basic mats most of the time. I'm working on a video that shows me opening bags and selling things so that people can see that since that's been asked for a few times now.
so u do want to max out ur MF before the farm even starts ? or only when u open the loot ? And people say open them on level 48 charakter for more t4 loot and thus higher profit. What do u say about that ?
This is true. I dont know why it wasn't stated in the video. You should open your chests on a level 49-53 character to get the maximum profit. Openning stuff on level 80 will just give you mithril and useless just when you salvage. While the lower levels give you leather and woods more expensive than the ones you get normally . silverwastes.loltools.net/ Check the prices here.
I know that its common to mostly boost your magic find right before the vinewrath because of the chance to get the queen bee infusion from the big chest at the end, but I personally like to keep my magic find up during the entire meta, so that's what I do. I guess that just comes down to personal preference. As for opening bags on lower level characters, that's definitely what people recommend. I just completely forgot about it because I don't do that. I don't actually have a non80 character. I also always spend my gold almost as soon as I get it because of all the different things I want or need in game, so I never have enough gold to convert to gems to get a new character slot to dedicate just to opening bags. So that's why I didn't include it in the video, because its not something I do and it doesn't contribute to my personal profits. But if you have a lower level character to open bags on, I'd recommend it. Thanks for reminding me about that though, I'll include that in my next video and try to get a character slot to dedicate to that for testing purposes.
Opening your bags on a level 48-53 character gives up to twoce as much gold as opening on a lvl 80. Here's what you need to know: -Farm SW on a lvl 80 -When you are done, open all your bags of rare gear on the lvl 80 character. -Coin Purses, Bags of Masterwork Gear and Seed Pouches should be put in the bank -Switch to a lvl 48-53 character -Take the three types of bags you just put in your bank and open all on the 48-53 character. -Salvage all your loot from these bags but DO NOT deposit any of the materials to your bank. -After you open everything, sell all the salvage materials, lodestones, globs etc. to get maximum gold -Side Note: If you want, you can keep your globs/lodestones/materials if you need them but this usually impacts the amount of gold you make heavily
@@envytee9659 just another small question; when i open them on a lower character they naturally gain levels from it right. so is it possible to open them in the pvp lobby for not getting levels ?
yes, but not just from salvaging. I usually click "deposit all" while farming bc I'll get mats and whatnot while looting things and salvaging as I go. So check your material storage for anything that's worth selling. Usually you'll get some T6 mats or other things that are worthwhile if you've accumulated enough of them. My usual process is to open everything, sell any exotics that are worth about a gold or more, salvage everything else, deposit as I go because bags are dumb, then once I've gone through my inventory and it's clean, I go to a crafting station and refine all of my mats. The goal with this is to try and get enough mats refined to craft the ascended mats (deldrimor, spiritwood, etc). Once I'm done crafting, I look through my material storage and grab everything I want to sell, the bulk of which are the mats I just refined, ectos, and any T6 mats I picked up along the way. Admittedly, doing this might not mean that your profits are STRICTLY from silverwastes, but most of it will be unless you actively farm for mats/map complete/things like that. I'm currently working on skyscale guides, but while doing that I'm also working on a better silverwastes guide because this particular one is outdated now that there are the UnID gear drops. I made this guide before the Istan nerf and loot changes so all of that has had an effect and I'm not sure how accurate these numbers are anymore, unfortunately :/ But as far as how I make my gold, and how I usually farm, that's what I do. Good video, switching to silverwastes now. The Istan nerf was so painful because thats how I made my gold. Also I had fun while farming in Istan, now it doesnt feel right. I mean you can still do Pala and Akili etc. but Great Hall feels different. Thanks for the guide!
I got from 1h sw chestfarm 140 Embroidered Coin Pure . That was like 10-15 Gold. If i'm doing riba+cf i get like 100 coin pures und other bags =20gph. What am I doing wrong? (Sorry for bad English)
I'm not entirely sure, honestly. I know that it's pretty hit and miss sometimes, depending on your drops, but I think I ended up with just good drop days. I only had around 25g per hour on one day out of the three that I farmed it. And that was when I kept most of my mats because I needed them for legendary crafting. The other two days I didn't need the extra mats so I sold everything like I usually do.
I do know that after PoF dropped, and everyone got mounts, the time it takes to complete the meta decreased a LOT. I remember the first time I did the meta after PoF came out I was surprised at how fast it progressed. So that might have been a factor. The faster you can cap the forts, the faster the events spawn, the faster you get to breach and VW, the faster you can farm chests and get more chests, and so on. So that probably adds to the gold per hour increase overall.
@@Fayrah I see, now that istan was nerfed, maybe is a good time to give sw another go. Let's just hope Anet keeps their hands off sw meta, because if it's as profitable as your vid made it seem, they'll prob look into nerfing it. 300g a day is what I used to make in istan farming for like 6 hours. I've been doing the events and following the tag for about 4 successful runs (including the chest train) and also salvaging gears and selling mats but I only got 5-10 gold. Idk if I'm doing it right. You guys make 20+ gold how?
I haven't been able to dodge it, but aegis or protection might work. The way I got that achievement was by running into the chamber before the beam was shot out. Gotta go fast.
Though somewhat dated (Domain of Istan was totally demolished with Nerfs and bags are no longer affected by magic find) this is still a useful guide to silverwaste.
I really enjoyed the video. You should start a guild strictly for farming the Silverwaste a couple times a week. I would definitely join and I'm sure others would as well. With your knowledge of the meta I'm sure it would always be a success.
I actually don't have a guild slot currently, but my pvx guild started out as a farming guild and we're actually trying to start that back up so who knows! Maybe we'll be in farm maps as a guild more often! :D
I've been looking to find a guild that farms SW as i find this map extremely fun, even before finding this video and understanding how it works lol so now that I more or less know what to do, yeah would be great to find a group that farms it a lot, since it's hard to find a good map
@@barbitaa If you can get into a TML or SW (Sinful Wasters) map, you should definitely ask if they're recruiting. Those are really great farming guilds. Alternatively if you enjoy a lot of different pve content, my PvX guild is always recruiting. We don't do a lot of farms aside from special events but we do sometimes get people together to do a lot of different content.
3 hour farm without maxing my magic find and wasn't being as efficent as possible and made 73 gold profit. Thanks for the guide. gonna max my magic find and be efficent and farm for 8-12 hours tomorrow. Need that gold lol
@@Ravanin01 it varies based on what I have/get but usually I just refine my mats and try to make ascended items. I'm not sure how it is now that unidentified gear is dropped but I'll be farming and starting to work on the updated video this coming week. I'll show my crafting/selling process in that video since a lot of people have asked to see it
Very informative video. Does the Mordrem Extraction Device work on other champs, or they are only specifically made for the underground bosses during The Breach?
You can also use them on the vinewrath champions, but if you used one at breach then your next extractor (for about 30 minutes I believe) will be attuned to that same type of creature. So like, if you use one at amber for the troll, then the next device you pop will only work on other trolls, so you'd need to go to south lane to fight the bee keeper if you're using a second extraction device right away. If you just want to use one extractor at vinewrath then it doesn't matter, but that's just something to consider. So if you use one at blue and want to use a second, you'll need to go to mid lane, and if you want to use a second one at north lane you'll need to use your first one at Indigo. I...hope that made sense, it's really late for me lol. If not I can try to explain it better after I've slept.
The only problem with this is that most of the time, NOBODY is playing in this map Most of the time there isn't enough people to do it After playing this game for a long time, only yesterday I was able to go into the labyrinth (and I wasn't even trying, I was actually just doing the skyscale)
Yeah, that's the problem I have with the silverwastes. When I have time or want to farm it, it's a 50/50 shot whether or not there will actually be anyone running the map and then I may not be able to even get IN the map. That's why I say it's not consistent by any means. I wish it was. It goes by spurts and spells for sure. I also think that most of the time, people don't bother with the labyrinth unless they have a bunch of the keys saved up and then they just go to the middle chest. Right now especially everyone is just in the new map and I've not been able to record anything for my next silverwastes video because there's nobody around
to be fair check out the lfg tool as people mostly organize for the map. Also I do not wonder about this beeing empty not only are the earnings a joke that are told here but the actual lLS meta provides at least 60+ unidentified rare and even way more green and yellow items + a big number of champ bags which is also why prices are at the bottom right now for every mas level mats and gear. IF SW would be as good as mentioned no one else would care for any other event to farm gold which allready should indicate what to expect from those numbers here. It is a good guide to SW none the less but earnings are wrong.
@@kirasternenfeuer6198 I check LFG all the time and don't find squads running it :/ Bad luck I guess. I will admit that the profits are likely different now, as I haven't farmed the silverwastes (due to not having time, or being able to find a squad in lfg) since I made this video, and this video was made several months ago before the nerf to Istan. I don't know what my profits would be if I farmed it now, since there's been so many changes to how loot works, but I do plan to make an updated video for this farm. My focus right now, however, is on the new map because I love it there. So there's that.
GAH I didn't see this until now, sorry about that. To answer your question though, I'm not terribly sure. I don't often see tags going down to grab the nightmare key pieces, and I am really bad at it myself so I've only tried it a few times and never really got enough to make more than maybe one or two full keys. I feel like if you do it often enough you probably get faster and faster at it, so you can ultimately get more and more pieces, to make more keys, so you can open the chest more. And the chest gives the champ bags plus rare gear and regular gear for salvaging. From what I can tell, based on what the tags themselves do, it's probably more beneficial to go for the bandit chests, as you get not only gear and bags, but also obsidian shards (though admittedly not everyone needs those) and also bandit crests. But if those don't interest you and you dedicate the timeout period just to the maze, I personally think that might be more beneficial. Personally, when I go to the nightmare pod chest I usually have about 15+ keys, so less than the number of bandit chests I'd open during the time out period anyway, but I always end up with my inventory packed with loot before I finish with my keys. And you DO get a lot of those champ bags... Of course I can't say, because I've never actually tested it, but it might be worth looking into and trying it out. I'll have to do that and see for myself how the numbers compare. Is that what you do when you farm?

When i go to the nightmare chests I have a feel that is more profitable because of the loot. The champion bags and the quantitiy of rares is way more than the bandit crests run, but its like u said i can only farm 3 keys. So i don't know if it is or it isnt more profitable. Im backing to farm SW just now, when I farmed there in the past everyone went down there in the maze to farm the keys.
Yeah, I usually dedicate my last timeout session to the maze, because usually by then I have a bunch of nightmare keys. I wish it was easier to get more of them because then it'd definitely be more profitable for sure. I'll definitely try it out though, because I really do like the loot from that chest.
When you get a chance could you make a video of you opening, refining, and selling your stuff. I want to get a better idea of what I should just sell. What I should keep and what k should sell.

Secondly, I just want to clarify something regarding selling the loot I'll earn from RIBA. -Do I OPEN the Unidentified Gears, and salvage them one by one, then sell the materials? -Or do I SALVAGE the stack of Unidentified Gear itself? -Or do I sell the stack itself? I'm actually trying to figure that out right now! I'm comparing the profit from opening them vs salvaging them vs selling them straight. At the moment, I open them all and then salvage the loot, but if you open your bags on a level 50 it seems that you get mats straight away rather than more Unidentified Gear. Currently, on a level 80, it seems to be roughly the same if you open them vs salvaging them as a stack. Opening them seems to give a little bit more, but it's only a small difference in profit. But like I said, I'm still looking at all the different possibilities and will be releasing a new updated guide in about a week, so once I know then you'll know :)

You should be getting things that can be sold...that seems weird to me otherwise. Open your bags and salvage or sell the loot from the bags. You won't be able to sell the obsidian shards, but that's all I can think of that should be like that.
Hi, im not entirely sure how to make money from the loot i get, i get SO much green/blue loot boxes and like 15+ rare loot boxes, but what do i salvage, what do i sell? i salvage all the rare to get ecto or other stuff and sell that, and i try to salvage all the green and blue gear too. but i dont make alot, any help?

Probably not. A lot of changes have happened in the game in the past year since I made this video, and loot drops are a lot different now than they used to be. I also haven't been farming since I made this video due to time constraints and IRL issues, but I do intend to update this guide after the lunar new year festival is over so I can get better/updated data for you all! From my understanding, just talking to others recently, this farm isn't as good as it used to be.

I don't get it. I did it for 2 hours, got the bandit chests and salvaged everything for a total profit of..... 8 gold. wat. Not sure what I'm missing I got gold medal on a lot of the events and went with a squad + mount.
What's your magic find percentage? Are you using MF foods and boosters? Also check your gold find percentage. The updated data that I'm currently collecting indicates that those are both factors. My guildmates who have lower percentages tend to make under 10 gold no matter how long they farm with me, whereas guildmates with higher percentages tend to make closer to what I do. I'm not saying this is DEFINITELY the reason, but I'm curious if your percentages are also low.
I haven't farmed drizzlewood personally yet because I'm really behind in so many things, but I've heard that while it's more profitable than silverwastes that it's really complicated and drawn out, so it takes longer. That's just what I've heard, though. I haven't tested that yet.

I'm actually going to start working on an update to this video next week to cover the drop changes. I've been away for a couple months for various health reasons so I haven't actually farmed since the change, but I'm looking forward to seeing the impact it's had, if any.

When I say 'refining mats' I mean going to a crafting station and refining the materials you gained from salvaging all your gear. I'll be making an updated video showing this process since it wasn't as clear as I intended it to be :( But what I do is I refine them so that they're higher tier mats. Scraps into pieces, ores into ingots, that sort of thing. I saw your other comment about how little you were making also and to respond to that: I really don't know. I haven't farmed the silverwastes since I made this video because I got wrapped up in IRL things and haven't been around gw2 much at all in the past year, but I'm getting back into it and I know that there have been a lot of changes to loot drops and how loot works in general and I know that's most likely effected farms like Silverwastes. I'm not sure what the new numbers or standards are, but I'm going to be farming it for a few weeks to get as much data as I can so I can make an updated video which will hopefully answer all of these questions :)
I haven't tried it myself but from what I've been told it's definitely worth it to do that if you can. I open bags on a level 80 character bc that's all I have currently.
Its been a little while since i ran SW, But it was almost imperative to actually making a profit. It was like a 20 gold difference sometimes if you did not have a 55.(from memory) After a while of running with just 80’s i realised i had lost hundreds of gold in profit simply because i was too lazy to level a toon a little. Ide imagine it’s still the same now. If you have tomes or scrolls from bday boxes, theres not much excuse not too.

I actually don't have any personal experience with that because I only have level 80 characters, but my friends and guildies say that it definitely makes a difference and that you get better mats from the bags when you use a lower level alt. I'll try it when I have a character slot to make a lower level character with but for now all I have are 80s :/

@@h3xt0r63 I salvage almost everything, yes. If a rare will give me more than 50 silver I'll sell that straight out, and if I get an exotic that will give me about a gold then I'll sell that also. Otherwise I salvage everything. I'm not sure if salvage kits make a difference or not actually. I use the copper fed salvage o matic for masterwork and lower, silver fed for rares, and black lion salvage kits for exotics. If you don't have the infinite salvage kits I highly recommend them just because they take up less space and you never have to worry about running out. But if you don't have them and can't get them, I'd recommend making some of the mystic salvage kits and using those for everything other than exotics, then black lion salvage kits for exotics. The higher your salvage kit the better chance you have of getting better things from them (at least that's what I was told when I got them). Once i salvage everything I go to a crafting station and refine everything because refined mats (like metals, woods, leathers) sell for more than the components used to make them in general. Then I sell everything including the ectos that I got from the rares, the t6 mats I got as drops, and all the mats. I also make sure to refine all my sand at a jeweler and make glass mugs because those give you a bit extra as they're needed for guild hall upgrades.

yo boi mirage has a special mechanic called mirage cloak that replaces their normal dodge roll. It produces a special attack with the auto attack that varies depending on whatever weapon the mirage is using. Greatswords special attack is called split surge and it essentially sends out a crap ton of beams to a ton of different targets. It’s one of the best tagging abilities in the game, even better then a engis flamethrower because it has 1200 range

I personally love the Silverwastes a lot, too, because the meta helped me to farm and adjust when I first hit Level 80 a few years back. It's nice to see that it's still worthwhile playing for the amount of gold you get out of it!

I honestly don't understand how people are getting 20+ gold/hour in Silverwastes and Istan. The Skritt tunnel thing was new for me though, but I don't know which tunnel you are referring to in order to head towards the labyrinth.
Its just west of red rock. After vinewrath when you kill the champs? Its back against the wall behind the large champ tendril. Does that help at all?

Yeah, I'm completely salvaging/selling everything at sell price, but I've never made Istan or SW over 10g/hr. I've even tried opening bags on a level 49 toon, and even then it's marginal.

@@Fayrah Works pretty good actually. RIBA takes a lot of time, but you'll get many T5 itens for mystic forge, forge them into T6 and voilà, bonus gold.

Commenting again after seeing this video three weeks ago. I farmed for few hours every Saturdays and just a few steps enough for a precursor. Aside from the things stated by the video, here are some things that I would like to share to those who only gets 6g-10g/hr:
1. Once you get the rares, check their selling price to TP, if it's around or more than the price of Ectos, sell it. If it sells too cheap, salvage it in hopes of getting some ectos, then sell the ectos at TP.
2. Exotics can either be sold to TP or straight up salvaged for Dark Matters. If you are crafting Ascended then weigh your options carefully.
3. REFINE THE MATS after salvaging them, then sell at selling price. :D

I played on and off at low level free game for 2 years, and just got myself the pay to play for xmas after reaching free 80 and had nothing else to do. Now I have people helping me, like telling me to take notes, keep a plan, and things like nayan timia just said. Now I'm driven, ambition and ego have kicked in and I'm having a blast.

@@Fayrah PvP while playing free, but getting my butt kicked immediately wasn't fun. Out weaponed, out armored and no one to coach. It and fractals are on my list, after I finish a few masterys I need.
Fractals are one of my favorite game modes. That and wvw when I have guildmates to run with.
Two things should be mentioned... 1) Indigo if you have a strong Indigo it makes the rest of getting to Breach much easier.. basically it can act as an anchor for the whole map and 2) the mid route in the Vinewrath Meta if you got a good crew that takes that down the first time it makes it easy to finish the Vinewrath. I've seen more map fall apart because of failure at mid than any other boss. Great guide by the way.
You're absolutely right. Mid is definitely the lane that fails the most and if mid fails half the time it doesn't bode well for the rest of the meta. I also totally agree that indigo is a great anchor/indicator of the meta in general. Strong group at indigo makes me really confident about the meta no matter what because it usually shows that the people know what they're doing so the whole meta should fall into place easily.

I feel that infusion struggle honestly. I've seen a lot more activity in the Silverwastes over the last couple weeks, so that's reassuring. Hopefully Anet doesn't nerf this one also Q_Q
There's one thing I struggled to figure out about SW, so just in case anyone else is wondering...
The mechanics of the events for gathering ammo are pretty obvious for the southern and middle lanes, but for the northern lane, what you have to do is dodge roll into the coconut trees - that's what makes the coconuts fall down, and those are the ammunition.
Coconuts. The best form of ammunition there is. That one took me a while to figure out also. And ammo is pretty important, so thanks for throwing that tip out there for everyone!

I could do that on a stream, or make another video that's just a full farm run for this if that's something people want. The only problem with making videos that are longer is that people generally won't watch them for the actual content that I wanted to give. Even this one is pretty lengthy, honestly. But doing things like that could be better suited for a stream or even a secondary video where people know that that's what they can expect. Do you have a preference between a stream or a video?

Good video, i would add that the tracking of the vinewrath can be bypassed when you are a ranged class with fast long range attacks. Mount up and s get atop the walls leading to the main chamber. Just before the spot you get teleported away from. Pop some speed cooldowns or teleports and jump in while spamming your fastest long range attacks. If you hit the mob once - you get all the loot. Every meta i get credit from all 3 champions.
I have all the expansion and honestly my best gold farming map is Auric Basin, you get more chests than Silverwastes and the meta is more profitable and more populated and you can farm mastery for your glider as well.
Very good video. I stopped playing right after this map was opened, sometime in early 2015, I think. coming back to the game now, it's super useful to have a whole map explained like this. Your explanation is clear, the tone is relaxed, humorous in good proportion. You clearly have detailed knowledge of the mechanics and mobs/bosses, so the tips are super valuable. I'm probably gonna have to have the video on while playing because there's no way I can remember all this great info.

Honestly I get around 150g from 6hrs SW farming and I'm not even close to doing it ideally. SW has always been and continues to be one of the best.
Yeah, Silverwastes has been one of my go-to farms for years. It's really great, I just hate that some days you get really lucky with your drops and can make a ton of gold, but other times you make the minimum. I think the most I made was like almost 500g from farming all day, though I can't remember how many hours that was. That...also was the day I got my precursor drop though so that influenced that lol.
@@Fayrah That's lucky in my book. I've played this game for 5 years, farmed SW for hours on end since the beginning and yet I haven't had a single precursor drop for me yet. I have a deep and personal enmity with RNG.
It took me about 4 years to get that precursor drop, and it came from the skritt burglar of all things! I couldn't believe it. No luck on the Queen Bee though. I know someone who got that infusion twice and I'm just... shocked. I knew of someone else who got precursors spit out of the forge like candy. She literally just spent like 3-5 mins at the forge to get the precursors she wanted meanwhile I spent months at the mystic toilet trying to get the leaf of kudzu before I gave up and just used my debit card to get the gold and buy it. I have zero luck with the forge.
@@Fayrah I can completely relate. My friends always tell me to use the forge but I stay at least half a map away from the thing. I already lost a couple dozen exotics to that thing and the one time I crafted all 77 clovers for a legendary, I had to spend almost 2 stacks of mystic coins. Mystic forge and me? Nope. No way.
GOD Yeah. I just get my clovers from other ways because I hate playing Mystic Forge Lottery for ANYTHING. Unless it's guaranteed to give me something, like when using it to craft or infuse/attune things, then nope! My friends give me crap for it too, but they don''t have the bad luck I have. The last time I tried to make clovers I spent all my coins and got like...20 clovers. That's it. Never again.
it is better to spend crests on more keys, also buy the random extraction device and trade the parts for more crests so when u have enough keys and shovels, do the chest farm :-)

I'm pretty new to guild wars. Just bought the two expansions a couple of days ago. I don't even have a level 80 character yet (64 rn).
I do want to have a couple hundred gold to spare eventually, so I can use that to buy the living world seasons (kinda broke rn ngl). Can you suggest a good farm for me? I have around 3-4 hours a day to spare for gw2. Or should I just stick to pvp for getting gold?. Is the silverwastes gold farm, or that istan gold farm efficient for a new player?
it really depends on your playstyle and how bored you get with farming, to be honest. I don't think Istan is a very viable gold farm anymore, from what i've heard. If you have about 3-4 hours a day I'd probably alternate between silverwastes and PvP depending on if you can find a sw map that's going at the time, or what you feel up to doing that day. Doing the same thing every day will get really boring really fast, but both of those options seem to be good ways to get gold if you enjoy them :)

I really don't get how people get 40g when I get like 4-6g roughly and like 15g if I played for 3 hours. Do you sell the rares or salavge them? Do you sell everything? Or salavge everything and then sell everything you get? I'm so confused.

These are both great tips if you're having trouble getting gold. I sell rares if they give me over 30 silver on the tp, and exotics if they're over a gold. Otherwise I salvage and then sell the ectos. I also refine the mats you get from salvaging because you get more gold for refined mats compared to the basic mats most of the time. I'm working on a video that shows me opening bags and selling things so that people can see that since that's been asked for a few times now.

so u do want to max out ur MF before the farm even starts ? or only when u open the loot ? And people say open them on level 48 charakter for more t4 loot and thus higher profit. What do u say about that ?
This is true. I dont know why it wasn't stated in the video. You should open your chests on a level 49-53 character to get the maximum profit. Openning stuff on level 80 will just give you mithril and useless just when you salvage. While the lower levels give you leather and woods more expensive than the ones you get normally . silverwastes.loltools.net/ Check the prices here.
I know that its common to mostly boost your magic find right before the vinewrath because of the chance to get the queen bee infusion from the big chest at the end, but I personally like to keep my magic find up during the entire meta, so that's what I do. I guess that just comes down to personal preference.
As for opening bags on lower level characters, that's definitely what people recommend. I just completely forgot about it because I don't do that. I don't actually have a non80 character. I also always spend my gold almost as soon as I get it because of all the different things I want or need in game, so I never have enough gold to convert to gems to get a new character slot to dedicate just to opening bags. So that's why I didn't include it in the video, because its not something I do and it doesn't contribute to my personal profits. But if you have a lower level character to open bags on, I'd recommend it.
Thanks for reminding me about that though, I'll include that in my next video and try to get a character slot to dedicate to that for testing purposes.
Opening your bags on a level 48-53 character gives up to twoce as much gold as opening on a lvl 80. Here's what you need to know:
-Farm SW on a lvl 80
-When you are done, open all your bags of rare gear on the lvl 80 character.
-Coin Purses, Bags of Masterwork Gear and Seed Pouches should be put in the bank
-Switch to a lvl 48-53 character
-Take the three types of bags you just put in your bank and open all on the 48-53 character.
-Salvage all your loot from these bags but DO NOT deposit any of the materials to your bank.
-After you open everything, sell all the salvage materials, lodestones, globs etc. to get maximum gold
-Side Note: If you want, you can keep your globs/lodestones/materials if you need them but this usually impacts the amount of gold you make heavily

yes, but not just from salvaging. I usually click "deposit all" while farming bc I'll get mats and whatnot while looting things and salvaging as I go. So check your material storage for anything that's worth selling. Usually you'll get some T6 mats or other things that are worthwhile if you've accumulated enough of them.
My usual process is to open everything, sell any exotics that are worth about a gold or more, salvage everything else, deposit as I go because bags are dumb, then once I've gone through my inventory and it's clean, I go to a crafting station and refine all of my mats. The goal with this is to try and get enough mats refined to craft the ascended mats (deldrimor, spiritwood, etc). Once I'm done crafting, I look through my material storage and grab everything I want to sell, the bulk of which are the mats I just refined, ectos, and any T6 mats I picked up along the way. Admittedly, doing this might not mean that your profits are STRICTLY from silverwastes, but most of it will be unless you actively farm for mats/map complete/things like that.
I'm currently working on skyscale guides, but while doing that I'm also working on a better silverwastes guide because this particular one is outdated now that there are the UnID gear drops. I made this guide before the Istan nerf and loot changes so all of that has had an effect and I'm not sure how accurate these numbers are anymore, unfortunately :/ But as far as how I make my gold, and how I usually farm, that's what I do. Just did 1 RIBA run through and a lost bandit chest run a little while ago and netted a little over 12g.
whait, on what lvl should I open the bags? You didn't mention anything about that and everybody tells me to open them on a lvl 49 Char.
Last I remember sw was only around 25g per hour, did anything change?
I'm not entirely sure, honestly. I know that it's pretty hit and miss sometimes, depending on your drops, but I think I ended up with just good drop days. I only had around 25g per hour on one day out of the three that I farmed it. And that was when I kept most of my mats because I needed them for legendary crafting. The other two days I didn't need the extra mats so I sold everything like I usually do.
I do know that after PoF dropped, and everyone got mounts, the time it takes to complete the meta decreased a LOT. I remember the first time I did the meta after PoF came out I was surprised at how fast it progressed. So that might have been a factor. The faster you can cap the forts, the faster the events spawn, the faster you get to breach and VW, the faster you can farm chests and get more chests, and so on. So that probably adds to the gold per hour increase overall.
@@Fayrah I see, now that istan was nerfed, maybe is a good time to give sw another go. Let's just hope Anet keeps their hands off sw meta, because if it's as profitable as your vid made it seem, they'll prob look into nerfing it. 300g a day is what I used to make in istan farming for like 6 hours. I haven't been able to dodge it, but aegis or protection might work. The way I got that achievement was by running into the chamber before the beam was shot out. Gotta go fast.

Though somewhat dated (Domain of Istan was totally demolished with Nerfs and bags are no longer affected by magic find) this is still a useful guide to silverwaste.

I really enjoyed the video. You should start a guild strictly for farming the Silverwaste a couple times a week. I would definitely join and I'm sure others would as well. With your knowledge of the meta I'm sure it would always be a success.
I actually don't have a guild slot currently, but my pvx guild started out as a farming guild and we're actually trying to start that back up so who knows! Maybe we'll be in farm maps as a guild more often! :D
I've been looking to find a guild that farms SW as i find this map extremely fun, even before finding this video and understanding how it works lol so now that I more or less know what to do, yeah would be great to find a group that farms it a lot, since it's hard to find a good map
@@barbitaa If you can get into a TML or SW (Sinful Wasters) map, you should definitely ask if they're recruiting. Those are really great farming guilds. Alternatively if you enjoy a lot of different pve content, my PvX guild is always recruiting. We don't do a lot of farms aside from special events but we do sometimes get people together to do a lot of different content.
3 hour farm without maxing my magic find and wasn't being as efficent as possible and made 73 gold profit. Thanks for the guide. gonna max my magic find and be efficent and farm for 8-12 hours tomorrow. Need that gold lol

Very informative video. Does the Mordrem Extraction Device work on other champs, or they are only specifically made for the underground bosses during The Breach?
You can also use them on the vinewrath champions, but if you used one at breach then your next extractor (for about 30 minutes I believe) will be attuned to that same type of creature. So like, if you use one at amber for the troll, then the next device you pop will only work on other trolls, so you'd need to go to south lane to fight the bee keeper if you're using a second extraction device right away. If you just want to use one extractor at vinewrath then it doesn't matter, but that's just something to consider. So if you use one at blue and want to use a second, you'll need to go to mid lane, and if you want to use a second one at north lane you'll need to use your first one at Indigo. I...hope that made sense, it's really late for me lol. If not I can try to explain it better after I've slept.

After playing this game for a long time, only yesterday I was able to go into the labyrinth (and I wasn't even trying, I was actually just doing the skyscale)
Yeah, that's the problem I have with the silverwastes. When I have time or want to farm it, it's a 50/50 shot whether or not there will actually be anyone running the map and then I may not be able to even get IN the map. That's why I say it's not consistent by any means. I wish it was. It goes by spurts and spells for sure.
I also think that most of the time, people don't bother with the labyrinth unless they have a bunch of the keys saved up and then they just go to the middle chest.
Right now especially everyone is just in the new map and I've not been able to record anything for my next silverwastes video because there's nobody around
to be fair check out the lfg tool as people mostly organize for the map. Also I do not wonder about this beeing empty not only are the earnings a joke that are told here but the actual lLS meta provides at least 60+ unidentified rare and even way more green and yellow items + a big number of champ bags which is also why prices are at the bottom right now for every mas level mats and gear. IF SW would be as good as mentioned no one else would care for any other event to farm gold which allready should indicate what to expect from those numbers here. It is a good guide to SW none the less but earnings are wrong.

I will admit that the profits are likely different now, as I haven't farmed the silverwastes (due to not having time, or being able to find a squad in lfg) since I made this video, and this video was made several months ago before the nerf to Istan. I don't know what my profits would be if I farmed it now, since there's been so many changes to how loot works, but I do plan to make an updated video for this farm.
My focus right now, however, is on the new map because I love it there. So there's that.

I always wanted to know. Isn't it more profitable to farm nightmare key pieces than the bandit chests?
GAH I didn't see this until now, sorry about that. To answer your question though, I'm not terribly sure. I don't often see tags going down to grab the nightmare key pieces, and I am really bad at it myself so I've only tried it a few times and never really got enough to make more than maybe one or two full keys. I feel like if you do it often enough you probably get faster and faster at it, so you can ultimately get more and more pieces, to make more keys, so you can open the chest more. And the chest gives the champ bags plus rare gear and regular gear for salvaging. From what I can tell, based on what the tags themselves do, it's probably more beneficial to go for the bandit chests, as you get not only gear and bags, but also obsidian shards (though admittedly not everyone needs those) and also bandit crests. But if those don't interest you and you dedicate the timeout period just to the maze, I personally think that might be more beneficial. Personally, when I go to the nightmare pod chest I usually have about 15+ keys, so less than the number of bandit chests I'd open during the time out period anyway, but I always end up with my inventory packed with loot before I finish with my keys. And you DO get a lot of those champ bags... Of course I can't say, because I've never actually tested it, but it might be worth looking into and trying it out. I'll have to do that and see for myself how the numbers compare. Is that what you do when you farm?

When i go to the nightmare chests I have a feel that is more profitable because of the loot. The champion bags and the quantitiy of rares is way more than the bandit crests run, but its like u said i can only farm 3 keys. So i don't know if it is or it isnt more profitable. Im backing to farm SW just now, when I farmed there in the past everyone went down there in the maze to farm the keys.
Yeah, I usually dedicate my last timeout session to the maze, because usually by then I have a bunch of nightmare keys. I wish it was easier to get more of them because then it'd definitely be more profitable for sure. I'll definitely try it out though, because I really do like the loot from that chest.
Can confirm in 2020 the zone is permadead. Group of 5-8ppl couldn’t keep up. And that was the biggest group I got in several days

I'm actually trying to figure that out right now! I'm comparing the profit from opening them vs salvaging them vs selling them straight. At the moment, I open them all and then salvage the loot, but if you open your bags on a level 50 it seems that you get mats straight away rather than more Unidentified Gear. Currently, on a level 80, it seems to be roughly the same if you open them vs salvaging them as a stack. Opening them seems to give a little bit more, but it's only a small difference in profit. But like I said, I'm still looking at all the different possibilities and will be releasing a new updated guide in about a week, so once I know then you'll know :)
I'll be experimenting with this as well soon, after talking with a friend about it.

So I did this for 2 hours, exactly as explained. I got approximately 22g48s.
I had about 350 mf while running and 500mf when opening the bags.
That's how it is for me sometimes too. Then other days I'll get over 60 gold. It's definitely not consistent, which sucks :/

Hey it's a great video, but what exactly do I sell for gold>? I am new player and noticed that most of things from bandit chest are not sell-able.
You should be getting things that can be sold...that seems weird to me otherwise. Open your bags and salvage or sell the loot from the bags. You won't be able to sell the obsidian shards, but that's all I can think of that should be like that.

Hi, im not entirely sure how to make money from the loot i get, i get SO much green/blue loot boxes and like 15+ rare loot boxes, but what do i salvage, what do i sell? i salvage all the rare to get ecto or other stuff and sell that, and i try to salvage all the green and blue gear too. but i dont make alot, any help?

Probably not. A lot of changes have happened in the game in the past year since I made this video, and loot drops are a lot different now than they used to be. I also haven't been farming since I made this video due to time constraints and IRL issues, but I do intend to update this guide after the lunar new year festival is over so I can get better/updated data for you all! From my understanding, just talking to others recently, this farm isn't as good as it used to be.

I don't get it. I did it for 2 hours, got the bandit chests and salvaged everything for a total profit of..... 8 gold. wat. Not sure what I'm missing I got gold medal on a lot of the events and went with a squad + mount.
What's your magic find percentage? Are you using MF foods and boosters? Also check your gold find percentage. The updated data that I'm currently collecting indicates that those are both factors. My guildmates who have lower percentages tend to make under 10 gold no matter how long they farm with me, whereas guildmates with higher percentages tend to make closer to what I do. I'm not saying this is DEFINITELY the reason, but I'm curious if your percentages are also low.

I haven't farmed drizzlewood personally yet because I'm really behind in so many things, but I've heard that while it's more profitable than silverwastes that it's really complicated and drawn out, so it takes longer. That's just what I've heard, though. I haven't tested that yet.

What do you mean by refining your mats?
When I say 'refining mats' I mean going to a crafting station and refining the materials you gained from salvaging all your gear. I'll be making an updated video showing this process since it wasn't as clear as I intended it to be :( But what I do is I refine them so that they're higher tier mats. Scraps into pieces, ores into ingots, that sort of thing. I saw your other comment about how little you were making also and to respond to that: I really don't know. I haven't farmed the silverwastes since I made this video because I got wrapped up in IRL things and haven't been around gw2 much at all in the past year, but I'm getting back into it and I know that there have been a lot of changes to loot drops and how loot works in general and I know that's most likely effected farms like Silverwastes. I'm not sure what the new numbers or standards are, but I'm going to be farming it for a few weeks to get as much data as I can so I can make an updated video which will hopefully answer all of these questions :)

Its been a little while since i ran SW,
But it was almost imperative to actually making a profit.
It was like a 20 gold difference sometimes if you did not have a 55.(from memory)
After a while of running with just 80’s i realised i had lost hundreds of gold in profit simply because i was too lazy to level a toon a little.
Ide imagine it’s still the same now.
If you have tomes or scrolls from bday boxes, theres not much excuse not too.
