    The Crowes were... The Crowes! That chemistry just can't be recreated. But....Chris Robinson wants to get out on the road and play music that he has a right to play, .. with people enthused enough to play it with him...let them be. Marcus King is a great new rising talent, who will someday hopefully have the body of work that Warren and Derek have put out. It's not a contest. Just incredibly talented people sharing their gifts with the rest of us. We can enjoy them all.

So much fun! So nice to see Tony on the drums. You rock, my ole friend ! Looking great there Big Ragu!! That is what Chris called you, right? That is a Laverne n Shirley reference? Yes? Thank you, Chris Robinson......... for being Chris Robinson. Much love to y'all. What a performance. Marcus and Audley were fantastic. hats off to the hat-wearing guitarists! Forgive me for not knowing your name, but wow....wonderful keyboards all night,Sir. So fine, so melodic. The bands were so tight, they were loose, and effortless. Great show! He made a comment that it was his most intimidating call to action. And this kid was fingerboard fire with Phil Lesh and Friends. So that tells ya something. But he did also say that once they got going and he stopped over thinking it, it was business as usual. Hahaha. another day at the office. You know. Chilling with some legends. Showing them that YOU WILL also fall into the same category when youre their age. Regardless of whether or not Chris put this together just as an answer to The Magpie Salute at the time, I could give a fuck. Im a Crowe fan enough to where id go see both reincarnations and just be happy Im jamming Black Crowe tracks live again. This set and show was tits. Period

      Not even close. You're crazy. Derek Trucks is one of the top few best guitar players in the world right now. Marcus King is barely even known in the music world the past few years. You're statement was utterly laughable.

    • @terrymoody5475
      @terrymoody5475 5 лет назад +4

      Marcus is incredible and, although I do love Warren, he is as good as Warren IMO. He's not quite Derek yet but again, just my opinion. I saw them together at Red Rocks last summer and they pushed each other. Marcus pushed Derek about as hard as I've seen anyone push him.
      Marcus reminds me a lot of where SRV was heading, a blues/jazz fusion. Marcus definitely is headed in more of a jazz direction with his music but he can play whatever he likes. Saw him at the King Family Reunion in Black Mountain NC with Billy Strings and they burned through an Orange Blossom Special that was absolutely en fuego. Only 22 yrs old and plays/sings like a seasoned vet. Now he's just moved to Nashville so he'll be adding to and honing those chops constantly. And such a friendly, personable kid too. We talk at nearly every show now, same with the rest of the band too. They're like a smaller version of Tedeschi Trucks for me. And he does a smoking version of "War Pigs" too! And got Chris to do a Marshall Tucker song on the initial As the Crow Flies tour. He told us he was trying at the opening night at the Cap and we saw it at the tour ender in Portland. That same night at the Cap I requested War Pigs and we got it there on NYE. Great shows both nights. If you haven't caught Marcus yet, go asap cuz he's getting more popular daily and the small shows may soon become a thing of the past. Oh...saw him with an opening act, Ida Mae, in Charlottesville VA recently. After Ida Mae's set I went to the merch table to talk to them. The guy, Chris, plays a National Steel guitar and told me to not leave early as Marcus was gonna bring them and a dobro player who was in the house our for the encore. The dobro player was Jay Starling from Love Cannon. So they come out with Marcus on acoustic and, as Chris tells me after, completely unrehearsed and undiscussed, play a beautiful rendition of " Can't Find My Way Home". I could have died happy right then.
      Bottom line? Marcus King plays what Marcus King wants to play. Don't sleep on him. Go asap.
