    It would be nice if thats all you have to do... But I think you are mostly staying at the register and it seems calm, because you are new... But people who have been there a while say that it does get busy and even kind of crazy on weekends and holidays, especially in summer. Or during book signings. And eventually, they start having you work in receiving where the books are delivered and you unpack/organize them and bring them out to be put away. And then you will have to work in the Cafe making Starbucks drinks and food. You will basically be alternating those 3 jobs, because companies are cheap and they want every worker doing multiple jobs, instead of hiring someone for each area.....

      did you work in the cafe? How was that and how long does it take to memorize all of those drinks?!

    Hiya, I really loved your video! You mentioned adventurous receiving or shelving. Do you know the difference between each job? I’ve been looking into getting a job at B&N, but wanted to know the difference between each position since theres like receiving, book seller, store associate etc. Just curious which one you recommended?

    • @janellekayla1097
      @janellekayla1097  2 года назад +8

      Hi! So typically when you’re first hired you are a book seller on the floor. For the first month you will go walk around the store, talk to customers and tidy up anything you may see. After that typically people move to the register unless for some reason the manager feels like you should do something different! But receiving is where you are in the back room loading up the carts from all the packages we get. And shelving is where you take those carts that were loaded with books and disperse them on the shelves! I loved shelving because I could organize shelves and be in my own head space! At my store I couldn’t request a certain position (they all pay the same) I hope this was helpful🤍🤍

    Hi! I have some questions if that's okay?;;
    I'm really considering Barnes and Noble as a first job for me over the summer! Is there any advice you can give?
    And also, would it be possible to have water with you throughout the day? Or request a chair when at the register/sit for a moment if I really need it? I really would like to work there, but I know my health isn't always 100% so I'm curious;; I think when I finally go in, I'll ask about it anyway but I do worry it'll make them want to turn me away:(

    • @janellekayla1097
      @janellekayla1097  2 года назад +15

      Hi! You can definitely have water with you! And they wouldn’t be against you having a chair, especially for health reasons! As far as advice, nothing except just always be willing to learn and grow! I hope you get the job! I’ll be praying for that!💗

    hi! I have a question. How old do u have to be to work at a bookstore? Or how old do you think someone should be to work there? Bc I'm nearly 15 and I love books, reading and writing, and i always organize my bookshelves bc I know you have to be organized and put books in alphabetic order. It's my dream part time job but I'm too nervous to go there because I feel like they might not employ me because I have zero experience and look younger than I am (I look 12 haha) Thank you for taking the time to reply if you do!

    • @janellekayla1097

      I love this!! I believe the hiring age is 16, however you don’t need any experience! As long as you love books you are a great candidate!!🤍
