I'd just like to say, they probably are actually real accounts. At least some of them. I recently tried to log into a Twitter account I hadn't used in years and found it was suspended due to "suspicious activity" or something. After contacting Twitter support I was able to get it back, but I found it was following about 500 random accounts that I knew nothing about. These schemes might actually use some legit accounts that were hacked into in order to sell followers.
