    Capacitors 101. For all the newbies, hell that probably includes me. Say you have a sweet ride, you're not going to run it through the carwash. You do it yourself. Now you got the car all soapy and sudsy. You go to use the water hose to rinse it off but the water pressure is terrible. Like you're trying to rinse off your car with a bad showerhead. What do you do, you grab an empty bucket and let it fill with the water all the way to the top. You take that water bucket and splash down the roof with one or two big passes just blasting the soapy water away. That's kinda how a capacitor works. Your capacitor is a lifeless bucket your battery is constantly filling up with water and the water overflows out the top to your amplifiers keeping them going. At one point your amplifier says we gonna need a shitload of water to keep this bass note flowing. Cool. BASS note is gonna hit hard. The capacitor water is just sucked out of it for that note. Almost have the bucket is gone. But the water keeps flowin into it and none of the other systems, headllights, leds, cell phone charger, ac blower motor, They're all drinking from the same hose too but since the capacitor was full of water, it was able to dish it out and nobody else new it cause it had some to spare.

    Coming from someone who just hooked this same thing up yesterday, you are supposed to charge it up until the LED quits flashing, as per the instructions that came in the packaging. If you become impatient and don't want to hold it (it only takes about 30 seconds to a minute), then just wrap one end of the resister to the positive terminal of the cap, and the other end to the positive cable coming from the battery.
    I just let it sit for a minute while I went back inside to take care of something really fast. Wasn't worried about draining my battery down too far by accident, since I was using my car audio battery which I have isolated from the starting battery when the vehicle is off. Otherwise, I really like how your install looks. Much cleaner than my own. lol.

HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE, IT IS NOT BUT, SOMEHOW IT WORKED! I RAN TWO 1,000 CCA BATTERY'S W/1 FARROD CAP & THAT PONTIAC HIt HARD!!! now I have a focus w/ Memphis srx 5000.1 & 2-12's & 1 farrod cap & MAN DO MY HEADLIGHTS DIM! I NEED A BETTER ALTERNATOR BAD!!!

    06:00 I'd do it the other way around, lightly grip the wire in the vise,and leave the terminal out to solder; this way the plastic will not get burned as much, *AND* the terminal will heat up faster and more uniformely, since the vise won't be robbing the heat. At least,grab the terminal by the very tip of the ring, that works too.

    Nthefastlane good vid👍. I got a question, I got a 1100RMS amp and when I’m cruising around the bass never cuts out no matter how loud I have it. But when I come to a complete stop and my vehicles RPMs get low the bass cuts out if I have my system turned up. Will a capacitor help get rid of this problem? If so what size capacitor should I get? If a capacitor won’t help in this situation what do you think will fix this problem?

    Caps are only good for quick slaps but as soon as a long bass note comes up it does not have time to charge back up then it also becomes a load to the electrical system. That's why is wise to upgrade the alternator or add a battery

      These are the facts right here...well said. My 425 amp alternator arrives next week (dedicated to stereo, 2 alt set up 😁 1 battery yellow top😉 no caps. The long bass note is exactly what happens, and then the caps never catch up....👍

    • @-WolfMan-
      @-WolfMan- 11 дней назад

      Yep - The only Real way to have Actual Power is for the Power to Already BE THERE ... Get yourself a Realistic Alternator, Upgrade that Battery and Every Cable you've got under your Hood and There Ya Go!
      That Capacitor is intended only for sudden Quick Drops (if any) in Voltage. It is NOT a Regulator, it's only a Buffer. It's meant to activate only when Voltage drops below a certain Threshold.
      A Capacitor is NOT an Alternator "alternative".

    Lol I got 3 batteries, big 3 and my lights still dim, looked it up and apparently it's a problem with 04 trailblazers even without high powered amps.
    My voltage doesn't drop below 14 on the volt meter when bumping 3k watts but lights still dim

      Headlights Dimming doesn't sound normal to me. Have you checked for any TSB's since your last message. I looked it up too and gm does say it's normal 😂 but come on! They said it's normal, so it must be normal. Right?
      I used to be a Chevy/gm guy back when I was 10 in the 90s. They are shit these days including back in 2000's.
      Purchased a used tiny ass 02 Toyota echo back in 2014 and I ran that thing to almost 300,000 and sold it to someone else. I moved on up to an 08 Toyota Avalon and WOW! Only things I've had to repair on them were alternators and an O2 sensor or two. Oh and a intake manifold gasket on the echo. Don't get me started on these 2.4 Buicks. They consume more oil than a diesel engine runaway.

    which transistor ohm can I use it?

      just wire everything up no fuse in the positive wire, ground the amp and the cap separately. When it's all hooked up. I used a light bulb like a turn signal bulb and jump the bulb where the fuse goes the bulb should light up, the bulb will slowly dim when it goes out the cap is full and you can put the fuse in.👍

    will this help in my car i have this exact capacitor but in my car i have 2 ,12 inch jl audio sub woofers in my car and i think my jl audio amp is 500w peak im not sure though but when i have the subs going my lights will dim when i turn the steering wheel and my car will almost start to die... almost like it will hit 1,000 rpms then go back to regular ideling but when im driving its all normal and i have a 2011 nissan juke

      Serjio Blockus caps are a waste of money get yourself a good Agm battery and do the big 3 under the hood ,it will make a world of difference!!!

      Serjio Blockus look up big 3 or even big 4 on RUclips ,there's alot of helpful videos on it . Just doing the big 3 will give you at least 25% more power from your alternator

    That's total opposite of what I was told. Thought to charge it to as close to 12 volts as possible then hook it up

  • @charleswp71

    Maybe that tiny little ground wire is the source of your problems, ground wire of same or greater size should be ran from the amp to a clean ground point, cap should also have it's own ground.

    I got a question. Im going to install 2 15in subs with a 3500w or 4000w amp. Would i need an extra battery or can a capacitor do the same job?

    • @ThingsWithMotors
      @ThingsWithMotors 4 года назад

      Goku Velasco if you have to ask, I’m assuming you’re not getting an amp that can put out anywhere near 4000w or even 3000w. But if you’re getting an amp that can actually do that kind of power, you’ll need a better alternator at the very least. Invest in a “Big 3” upgrade and a higher output alternator. That kind of power will require true 1/0 wire, OFC if you want to avoid having your car burn to the ground.

    I got a good good battery up front a little battery in the back with a 2 farad fosgate cap my voltage drops to 11 sometimes i just ordered a high amp alternator that is the heart of the electrical u can add batteries and caps but what charges those components the alternator you don't want to stress out your alternator eventually your batteries will go your cap will gold your alternator will go upgrade your alternator trust me

    Just a suggestion, use your resistor with ground wire not positive it’s too dangerous. You risking shorting.

    • @Nthefastlane
      @Nthefastlane  4 года назад +1

      I would say roughly 3-5 minutes. It will still have a small amount of sparkable voltage. When unplugged, the voltage decreases until it no longer displays on the LCD.
