Perfect casting by Vought America, they really know how to make their brightest stars shine just a bit more, even if they have to focus the light into a beam first.
@@jenniferhansesYou beat me too it. I'm tired of super pretty people being the face of everything. The guy isn't a stud but at least he got insane skills.
How would it not be? You can genuinely see Homelander's love for the people. Shame it ended like it did, our hero isn't perfect, he really did try to save them.
Dude, you really have the Homelander scowl. Congratulations at being one of the best casted roles ever. And those in charge of casting? Geniuses. The whole shmear.
Outrageous fortune was his best , playing twins with completely different personalities, such a underrated role as an actor because he actually did something so many actors could not do
I've watched Outrageous Fortune so many times, and it's so weird that in the moments where Van pretends to be Jethro and Jethro pretends to be Van, there are subtle things his face does that tells you which one of the twins he is. It's actually fucking insane how well he portrays them.
@@allgreatfictions Yes! It's actually infuriating seeing all the comments about Homelander pretending to be Antony Starr because it's so unoriginal at this point but also because he's so good as an actor it's annoying seeing them ignore all the other work he's done.
jeez!! why do i feel scared of antony starr even tho i know he is just being so chill and not playing homelander currently!! 😅 love antony for giving such a good performance ❤
True, I didn't even realise that was the Deep besides him 😂 I have an image of him inside my head. Dark short hair, beard with a certain smug facial expression that seeing him with a normal expression didn't click to me that it was the same person. Facial expressions too could work as a disguise apparently.
I really hope the homelander role doesn't overshadow the rest of his career. He's a great actor, but many actors in the past were unable to move past breakout roles that had such an impact. And when I say "breakout" role, I am aware that he had an established career, but The Boys and its cultural significance over the past 2-3 years, especially the past year, has gained him a much greater recognition to casual viewers. I mean, look at the comments, "Homelander Playing Anthony Starr". That's concerning as an actor. We should all make a diligent effort to watch and appreciate his future roles!
Aw he seems far less threatening these days. I love it. He used to not smile as much in past promos, and also beat up a guy apparently so that was kinda scary lol. Maybe he worked on those anger issues 😊
*Fun fact: Antony Starr is a Brown Belt in Kung Fu. Those awesome fight scenes in "BANSHEE" were so stellar because he's trained most of his life. *Also, if you watch the fight between Soldier Boy, Butcher and Homelander you can spot his fighting form. Dude's the real deal.
"You're so holier than thou that you can't say the B word?! .. say it... SAY IT!!!!" she doesn't say it and gets lasered.. that'll be a fitting end to this interview
Okay, this Homelander is far away from comics version, but this is the best Homelander ever. Hope, they give him an Oscar, otherwise he can laser everyone
Antony made Homelander HIS character. I don't think many people could see anyone else playing as Homelander just like how many people can't see someone else playing Iron Man or Wolverine other than RDJ and Hugh Jackman.
He as an actor, like Bryan Cranston, has been blessed with an incredibly, incredibly expressive face. Capable of consistently displaying several emotions at once with different parts. His eyes, mouth etc can all be giving off very different and distinct vibes at the same time.
It's amazing how Homelander stays in character even outside of the show, pretending to be a simple mortal man. That's true dedication to the art. Homelander is a true American Hero!
This show is already a classic but it's recent and it's not even finished. The memes are crazy. It feels like it's one of those classic shows that's been over decades ago like Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones
Tbh, he’s probably going off muscle memory from practicing and perfecting the facial expression for the character as it’s a big part of homelander’s persona to have this look of “I don’t wanna be here right now, no I don’t wanna talk to you, fook off” look on his face 😅😂

His facial expressivity is what makes Homelander so damn awesome. This is the synergy that takes place when the actor matches the role so well. 🖤
Yeah. As an actor, it shouldn't be "looking good" that's the goal, but performing. The more expressive your face is, the better.
