You need to push up & slide over pins
A flat bar helps to push the door up 👍

Only drill till pilot bit penetrates door

As a guy who's installed pocket doors, yes that's how.
That's me all day long cussing at myself and the object I am working with. Now I need to look at my closet pocket door to see how to remove to cut some off the bottom.
Never been a fan of the standard pocket door hardware, especially the tiny finger pull latch. I opted for a sugatsune DSI-4251-45-BL for the pull handle and a Delaney pocket door lock.
Also for acoustic management, I lined the inner drywall panels with butyl automotive sound deadener to dampen fart noises.
That looks like a plain old deadbolt. What's to keep the door from sliding back?
