Since we joined the E.E.C. our standard of living has risen beyond measure. This includes Daniel, I would bet his father didn't live in a lovely house with conservatory and lawn. I believe most of the crew on these boats are non Irish. It is sad though.
The French won't be forced to crush 33%of its fishing fleet. The Irish quota was bargained away by the EU to the Norwegians in return for greater access off Norway. Them same opertunities weren't on offer to the Irish fleet.
The UK primarily fished off Iceland in the 1970s when Iceland enforced its 200 mile exclusion zone. Was the same time we joined the EU many UK boats had to be destroyed on the EUs orders. So sad its now happening again.
Total nonsense. Nobody was ordered to take decommissioning by the eu , perhaps by their bank because they weren't making money but definitely not by eu.
Its fishing industry is dieying because there is not much profits in the fishing jobs anymore im retired fisher man thanks you very much for information
It’s not just the Irish same thing has happened in the United States Chinese funded lobbyists have gotten laws passed that make it impossible to compete with the massive Chinese fishing fleet
I live near the fishing harbour of Howth in Dublin. Almost all crew and the people in the factories have to be imported from abroad. Irish people don’t want a dangerous and not terribly well paid job. Much as I sympathize with the trawler men, and they are nearly all men, the rest of the economy can’t suffer to protect a tiny industry.
As much sympathy as i have for this man, there is no way the rest of us who aren't a fisherman or the family of fishermen are going to put 99.5% of the economy at risk for 0.5% of it.
@stiofain88 Ireland as a Island depends on Seafarers & Ships. The Ships and Seafarers may also, stop operating as similar to Fishers are being denied their rights.

As WW3 may soon arrive, the Brotherhood of the Sea, may decide to withdraw their support, will you and all the others who enjoy the good life, step forward and crew the ships to keep the island afloat.
Ireland is going to be the biggest winner of Brexit. A lot of business will shift from the city of London to Ireland, financial, high-tech and more. Same goes for education, many EU citizens will prefer to to study in Ireland over the UK. Ireland will gain more of that, than lost in fishing.
Yes I agree however, what use are the quotes to the UK when they can do nothing with them.? They can’t sell it into the EU because of red tape. Their own fault for leaving the EU I know, it’s sad to see we Irish in turmoil because of a stupid, and it is stupid decision of the UK to leave the biggest market they ever had.
@@gary5717really.. wages in construction doubled wages in transport doubled opportunities for our young are now plenty. Yes we did loose some big business but the little man has come out ok

The EU did the exact same thing with British fishing. The EU have craved up Irish fishing waters among its EU member states.
How's Brexit gone for British fishing? Last time I checked they hate you all.
Disgraceful-EU have distroyed our fishing industry here in Ireland 🇮🇪- 😢
