Heck yeah looking good. Gotta have storage for sure. It's so handy. It's much better than using a back pack everytime you go out. It does look like great quality. Cheers bro
I totally understand the practicality of adding some luggage to the Nightshift. I throw on Trip machine’s tank pouch now and again (it’s smaller than the SW Motech you’ve got, but doesn’t fit quite as well). I’ve been looking for a saddlebag or pannier solution to add to mine. But all signs point to probably needing to add a luggage rack first.
Yeah, I had to really think about it, and i think just the tank bag is going to have to work...that top case would have been nice, but it changed the look of the bike too much! Thanks buddy!
Have no fear, the bike has been returned to stock…I’m going to see if I can return that box. The Ducati looked silly with that thing on the back. I make dumb choices from time to time (daily). 😀😀
Thanks buddy--appreciate that! I spent too many years not being able to carry stuff on a bike, and now I'm all in! I have been thinking about a windshield. Thanks again!
Personally, I think those "trunks" are the ugliest thing to do to bikes...they remind me of scooters delivering pizza. lol. But, I imagine it's less hot and more comfy than taking a backpack everywhere. lol. I'm trying to find soft saddlebags for mine.
Yeah, i think once I got used to having storage options on one bike, I want it on all of them! When I was younger I don't know how i carried anything, I guess a backpack...several of the bikes I've owned the past 20 years had some storage--top case is my fav! 😜😍🎸
How does that saying go - "you do you boo". If people don't like it, they don't need to buy/ride it. If it works for you, it means that its a success. I have always been a "function before fashion" type of person.
Since you got the box I would add a windshield or screen of some kind to balance it out the skid plate sounds like a good preventive idea. Did you ruin it? looks wise that a personal thing It doesn't bother me and they are bolt on parts, they can come off, maybe the purist won't like it but as they say in Spanish "lo que sea" or whatever. (Maybe I should make up some stickers with that 😆) Just having a rack is handy at times, the box does keep everything secured and you don't have to worry about a bungie cord coming loose. I have used tail bags, boxes, backpacks, etc in the past on my bikes the boxes or trunks to some were always the most convenient and secure. When I went on trips a lot of the time I just had a tank bag and a tail bag I like to travel light and without a lot of stuff. I did have a detachable rack and backrest on my Sportster Iron 883 and it made it nice to carry things and do grocery shopping but when I didn't need it flip a couple of levers and it came right off. I left it on most of the time, it was nice to strap my camera backpack to it instead of wearing the 12 pounds of gear on me. LOL now that I use a bicycle as my main transportation I'm looking at a getting a trailer for it to haul groceries and the like, I'm going on a month without a car or motorcycle to be truthful I'm kind of enjoying of not having to deal with gas prices, maintenance and monthly payments for insurance. I'm getting by just fine for now I do know I will have motorized transport in the future.
After a couple of days looking at the new bike with that big silver box sitting on the back, i stripped it back down and knew immediately the box had to go! I like the Ducati with maybe a tank bag...different bikes for different purposes. This is a short range bike, so I will dress it accordingly. Thanks so much!
How is it on highway speeds like 75-80 mph , I live on the east coast and like to ride out west a couple times a year, do you think it would take a cross country trip ?
I just cannot say enough good things about this bike--it is a blast, and the fun really starts when you get it up into the higher revs. 75-80 on the freeway is silky smooth. I added a competition werkes slip-on and it sounds great too. Thanks jamespolucha8790. Ride safe!
I believe I was one of the comments about 'ruining the bike' a couple of videos back. That wasn't,needless to say, meant to be demeaning. The bike, of course, is not 'ruined' per se, but I stand by my comment that putting that rack and top box on the back ruins the 'styling', the look of the machine. From what you have told us these last few videos, about what you want from your motorcycle, quite frankly, your Ducati dealer needs a kick up the arse. They should have steered you to the Desert Sled version of the Scrambler , rather than the Cafe Racer derived Nightshift. The Desert Sled has options for full top box and panniers, longer suspension travel and a reinforced rear frame for off road fun.....oh, and it also has a skid plate to protect the engine, like you're thinking of adding next to the Nightshift! By contrast, your Nightshift has the suspension and smaller front wheel specifically for slightly sportier handling on roads with plenty winding corners. That said, perhaps you knew all this already, had the disposable income required and wanted the sportier model to, er, make into your own custom Desert Sled?
I think perhaps it was your comment that stuck in my head…honestly, this is my first Ducati, having ridden just about everything else out there, and the whole idea of riding a street bike off road is a fairly new one to me. I love the look of the Night Shift and plan to stick with it for a while…part of the fun is making it the way you like it right. Anyway, thanks you so very much for the constructive discussion! 👍
@@JP1970 Yes, the Nightshift is a beautiful machine, a perfect allrounder, plenty of torque, great handling and while it is expensive, you can see the quality and finish that justifies the price imo. Equally, as others have pointed out, it is such an easy family of bikes to customise with a large catalogue of bits and pieces, the rack can be removed easy enough as and if it takes your fancy. Evotech make a high quality engine guard that compliments the styling without looking too much like a motorcross bash plate, aswell as stylish guards for the oil cooler and regulator if needed. I also put on some Ducabike frame mount crash bobbins (Evotech were sold out at the time) and evotech front and rear spindle bobbins to protect the brake calipers and exhaust, etc in case of a drop and they also allow me to use a rear paddock stand for chain adjustment, etc.
@@tonebonetones thanks very much-I appreciate your support and encouragement. Truthfully, I have learned a great deal more about the cafe racer. I bought the NS almost on a whim, and the top case is just something I have had on a few bikes. I realize it is not the desert sled, but I like the idea of taking a dirt road from time to time, but mostly keeping to the paved roads. I already have 500 miles on it and am excited to have the first service done by the dealer and then be able to romp on it to higher rpms.
Not ruined CUSTOMIZED! Hello JP! Have a happy Saturday Ride that bad bike!👍🏻😁❤️🦊

I should hope so! 😀

Very Nice great Video!
Thanks man!
I was with you on the tank bag but ya lost me on the tail but we also have two different riding styles. From a function perspective it’s well done.

Nice, my new gold wing needs a companion I have to take a look at the Ducati dealer to see if can get something nice too!
Right on--good companion bike to the GW for sure! Thanks!
I am loving the looks and if that's called ruining then ruin it more. Time to add a windshield to complete the look.
Thanks buddy--appreciate that! I spent too many years not being able to carry stuff on a bike, and now I'm all in! I have been thinking about a windshield. Thanks again!

They make one for the KLR...it'll fit a full face helmet too!
