Does she say that to multiple celebrities who appear? I thought it was a funny reference to them being the same person. I realize that a lot of sit-coms have characters who work in television, theater, or something media-related, and that that may be partly because it helps with writing plots where famous people appear as themselves.
I love that he refers to his girlfriend. It's CC, of course, and he is fine with calling her that. But I think Daniel steps a bit out of character at that moment. He doesn't sound as British, and if he were in character as Niles, he should sound more upset about CC possibly sleeping with Max (which, she really isn't, but he was supposed to think that.) He's part of the meta, too. I actually like this episode for a scene later where CC assures Fran that she now has no interest in Max (actually, she claims she never did) and tells Fran how great her...physical relationship with Niles is. The way Fran reacts, it seems like they're implying it's better than Fran and Max's.
"What the hell am I looking at?" "Now. You're looking at now, sir. Everything that's happening now is happening now." "Go back to then." "When?" "Now." "We can't." "Why?" "We missed it." "When?" "Just now." "When will then be now?" That's what this conversation felt like
Tipicly it was made by recordig it twice onto the same film. That is why they are realtivly apart, didn't want the two Frans accidently on top of eachother.
I feel this. As much as I love Jennifer Aniston acting and persona her character in friends was a bit too childish to relate to and don’t even get me started on Ross. That character was like the one raisin you find in a chocolate chip cookie. Ughhh
the first sitcoms i ever watched were golden girls, married w children and the nanny... i never found friends to be funny, even some parts of tbbt were funnier than friends.
It's just meant to be a meta joke. True, it wouldn't make much sense in-universe if Fran Drescher and The Nanny TV show really existed in the universe of the actual show, but it's not meant to be taken seriously. I mean, they literally tell us to watch the series finale the week after and then look directly at the camera lol.
Reminds me of the episode where the cartoon version of The Ghostbusters from the cartoon The REAL Ghostbusters, went to see in the cinema the 1984 Bill Murry movie as though the MOVIE was fake and the cartoon characters were the original inspiration.
Yes you are. Fran Drescher is fully aware that she is currently in a Nanny episode. "We did that very same story this season!" "Really? I didn't see that; when was it on?" "Now!"
@@EternalStorm796 oh shit I didn't know that. I remembered an episode of the Fresh Prince in the early days where Will goes to the mountains with some girl and the episode ends with him running around all the sets and I was like WTF I just watched
a fortune teller told Fran Maxwell would end up in bed with a blonde, shortly before he went on a business trip with CC, so Niles and fran followed them, and Niles would slip into CCs bed, not knowing she and Max had switched rooms, so the blonde in Maxwells' bed turned out to be Niles.
I don’t know how to explain it properly but it’s a term when a fictional character (in a fictional world of course) interacts with the people who are watching the show, like they were aware that they belonged to a fictional show. After this intervention, the character returns to the fictional world and doesn’t claim anything they said to the audience. This is kinda common in comedy theatre.
I just got used to her voice. I have seen almost every episode of this show. Her voice isn't as bad as some I have heard in the past. I went to church with a lady whose voice sounded like Minnie Mouse and that was her real voice.
I think it has a lot to do with sympathy. Fran is very charming and easy-going, also she produced the show with her then-husband so she made the rules and nobody would go after her.
@@jigglypuff2cute Sorry sir/mam. I mean no ill will towards you so sorry. But otherwise let's all stay civil with each other or get off one another's backs.

It would have been amazing if they said, "Did you know he's American? The accent? Fake!"
If Fran exists in The Nanny universe, then does the show The Nanny exists in The Nanny universe.
At 0:52 Niles says “she learned that from your show”. So the show must exist in that universe.
Yes, they literally discuss the show in the clip.
Nannyception?
And then the entire Multiverse exploded.
Would it be a documentary or a Truman Show in that case?
An iconic meta moment. Today's sitcoms could never.
never!
Yeah they could. Like, come one.
But they should! Though the quality is not as good as those from the last century.
Watchie Nostalgia, girl. What can you do?
I think they did this in Mork and Mindy
It's nice that they gave Fran Dresher a cameo in this show.

Only fran could meet herself on her own show😂

Well this has been Fran-tastic!
This was a pretty meta scene, they even acknowledge the existence of the show itself!

@BeebsBonanza I'm guessing she didn't win an oscar for best actress that year, but Marisa Tomei did.
@BeebsBonanza it means she didnt star in My Cousin Vinny, Marisa Tomei did, so its _her_ oscar, not Frans.
She’s probably heard that people loved her in My Cousin Vinnie before. 🤦♂️😂
Sitcoms could never reach this level of comedy. If anyone doesn’t mind me asking...how the hell did they do this in the 90s???

Split screens have been around since silent films 😅 As a 90’s baby myself your doubt about 90’s special effects makes me feel so old 😨
And this great delivery was talent, you can feel how much they loved doing the show.
After watching The Nanny I realized that Friends wasn’t funny.
Well, Janice is essentially an expy of Fran.
I agree
But The Nanny could also get more serious, in an almost soap-opera-ish way.
