This is the most straight forward non-bullshit advice I have ever heard for new pilots. And it’s not even saturated in affiliate links. Keep doing dope shit @botgrinder
One thing that many beginners come across early is that flying in the sim seems almost impossible, even after years of experience with computer games and mavic drones. It is very hard at first for almost everyone but after a few hours you will be able to cruise around. Hitting gaps may still be challenging but don't give up. When you are ready the first flight IRL will be a very special moment and from there on you will have tons of fun (and some more to learn when it comes to repairing stuff :) ). Btw, I would recommend to get a bind and fly for your first quad. Just because it gets you in the air more quickly. Learning curve is quite steep anyway. Welcome to a fantastic hobby!
Totally agree on getting a BNF as your first quad. I don't get the mentality of people pushing to "build your own" when you don't know anything yet, it just makes the barrier to entry that much higher. Get flying as soon as possible so you understand why it's worth the effort, then learn to fix things as you progress.
The biggest thing when new to the sim is to not burn yourself out. If you start to get annoyed just stop and take a break, or wait till the next day. The first night I was trying to do a figure 8 drill on DRL PC for 3 hours on an XB1 controller. The next night I hit it in 5 minutes and started to learn things much faster. For DRL specifically, I wouldn't recommend relying on just the training missions. Many of them have tons of restrictions and reset you if you stray off course without teaching recovery. My learning improved massively when I jumped into freestyle mode and followed Joshua Bardwell's learn to fly series. I just followed along as best as I could, even though he used Liftoff and I have DRL.

Man, screw DJI lol. As a cybersecurity "enthusiast" DJI sounds like a nightmare... Thanks for all of your info, I will be most likely upgrading my FatShark Scouts to a HD Zero setup as I am extremely new
@botgrinder Slight error in your info: you said the TBS Mambo was Crossfire. It actually has Tracer built in, whereas the TBS Tango has Crossfire built in. You can get Crossfire support on the Mambo by installing a Crossfire TX in the JR Bay on the rear. TBS tout Crossfire as a Long Range RC Link, and Tracer as a High speed RC link for racing.
You forgot to mention that it is essential to fit Remote ID to all your drones, even if they're less than 250g (just because you can). It's a license plate for your drone! 😛
There are also analog box goggles from about $50 USD to $150 USD. Personally, I don't like the binocular type goggles and I wear eyeglasses so box goggles work for me. Whether you like them or not, box goggles are still an option especially if you are on a budget.
I got a DJI M3P... and then immediately discovered FPV. I got the Goggles 2 so I could fly the M3P and others FPV, which yeah is limiting. My Mob8 is O3, undoubtedly underpowered but a lot of fun. My Crux35 has a Vista and is a blast to fly. My most recent addition is an analog Meteor75 and the EV800D goggles. I can live with Analog and the Meteor75 is a LOT of fun to fly around playgrounds and in and around the house (my cats are taking it better than I'd hoped). By far I've spent the most time in TrypFPV - I absolutely love flying in Tryp. I'm not sure what is next, but possibly building a 3.5" with an O3. I'm holding off on 5", at least for the moment.
You got the best! DJI. 💯👍 HDZero is fine if you're a racer, #1. But, for anything else, it's piss poor. Unless you like flying 100m away and having SHIT VIDEO. Flying around any solid object and losing signal 30 ft. past the first corner of the object... Building, large thick groves of trees, thick bushes, etc. It's very limiting where you can fly! DJI can fly pretty much anywhere and have crystal clear video 90% of the flight. Only way, WAY OUT THERE do you get any distortions.
@@KOrnhOliO1 Agreed - I couldn't be any happier with the video I get from my Mob8 with O3, and now that I've discovered Gyroflow... OMG! But I'm also happy I have a little quad with Analog for practicing ripping on a small scale and for my the amusement of my cats. I think my time with the Meteor75 proximity flying has upped my flying and confidence 100%. The analog EV800D DVR recordings are terrible, but flying it is a blast. I'm getting the Cobra X V2 with good antennas for hopefully better analog experience, but the EV800D's have worked pretty well and will keep it for backup / spectator.
@@patrickkelly7789 I'd rather be able to fly farther than 30m if I'm flying around trees, bushes, buildings, etc without having more colored sparklies than analog has snow! Sure, racing or flying in an open field and HDZero is great! The best! It's a one trick pony for sure... And that's fine. But flying around anything solid and it's simply not good. Plus, the reliability and durability of VTX's is terrible! Guys have quit using HDZero because they replaced, then replaced again, then replaced over and over and over again their broken VTX's so many times they gave up and went to DJI! They love DJI! Why? Because you can fly very, Very far with crystal clear video and way more sharpness, fly around trees and bushes, fly completely around a building and still be crystal clear for most buildings the entire time! HDZero can't even get around the first corner of a building and RAINBOW 🌈 screen of death appears and your done! Heck, you can get the rainbow screen flying around some trees! Then, it's not durable! DJI is ultra durable and super reliable. No defects, no breaking VTX's. HDZero is way, Way below everything DJI or even Walksnail can achieve. It's, quite frankly, not even remotely close! And, the VTX's break all the friggin time! 😩🤦
I'm rocking the TX16S and I'm a pincher but really liking that Zoro but not sure if would be big enough for my gripping style don't wanna effect my overall flight style kinda scared lol I wanna try one out see if I like it
Hi, what analog 5" or 3,5" would you reccomend (i was thinking about nazgul5 v3, but i dunno if it has good video strenght) i have radiomaster pocket, and will probably buy ev800d for first goggles, then upgrade to some good shit
Great vid, my dude. Recently made the crossover from DJI drones to FPV. Started off with a tinygo & just ordered a baby ape pro v2. I really wanna try building something of my own & I got the soldering iron and a decent tool kit but can’t find the balls to risk flushing my hard earned $$ down the toilet by fckin it all up. I was looking into some practice boards for soldering. Do you think that’s a safer way to start or am I overthinking it? Watched one manned unmanned’s new video assembling the grinderino. Might be biased but do you think that’s a good first build? Also, what’s the best way to find a decent community in NorthEastern Jersey? I know this comment is long af. My bad 😂
Well, no worries, this video is biased. Biased to HDZero (ANALOG2) which has THE BEST latency for racing, but besides that, it has THE WORST penetration of trees, bushes, and all objects. The Worst range with clarity - Hell, your lucky to fly 100m and not get all of those irritating colored sparklies, that are bigger, colored, brighter and more obnoxious than old analog snow. Some say, in abundance with those LED screen being so bright, that they hurt their eyes. Wanna flying around a building or ANY SOLID OBJECT, " forget 'bout it". HDZero can't fly around virtually anything! 20 feet around the first corner of the solid object, like a building, and your signal is Gone! You're dead. The other digital formats, DJI & Wallsnail, can easily fly around objects with varying success. Walksnail might make it completely around the object, but if it's a huge building, no way. DJI can typically make it all the way around, and sometimes with no break up to the crystal clear image quality.... Yes, DJI has, by far, the best image quality and it's not close, especially with the 03 system. HDZero is way, WAY back from the other two in image quality, penetration is virtually non existent, reliability - one prominent reviewer said he doesn't review or do videos about HDZero because every single one of his VTX's (the part that mounts to the drone) had either broken or died and doesn't work. He used to keep buying more, but after a huge number dying, he won't but anymore. Terrible reliability and durability! DJI is on the other end of the spectrum. Pretty much everyone, with few exceptions, haven't had a single Vista or 03 fail on them! Ultra durable and reliable. Olus, pretty much every reviewer of FPV gear flies DJI - of course they do, it's the very best in everything, but racing... Where you fly 50m Max from yourself in an open field with gates set up. That's HDZero's forte, and it's good at it, and almost nothing else. Are you a racer, but HDZero. Wanna do anything else, buy something else! Bot mentioned the newest DJI goggles not doing analog, but most of us use the V2 goggles from DJI. They do analog superbly! And cheap too! V2 goggles are easily available used, often in brand new condition, for around $300, ( HALF the cost of HDZero goggles!) so DJI is also the least expensive way to get into digital FPV, and the VERY BEST. You can fly soooooo far and typically have no distortion to the image AT ALL! NONE OF THAT STUTTER bullshit Bot mentioned! Sure, if you get way, Way, WAY OUT THERE, sooooo far HDZero would completely drop out and lose signal 1/10 of that distance from you. Walksnail might make it half the way, maybe further, but that's where that stuttering can occur. When you're flying out to bum fuck Egypt! Lol That's when you are very far away or flying around a huge solid object that the other two systems can't even fly close to where you are flying. Bot is a great guy, but he gets given gear because he does reviews. He got given, FOR FREE, those HDZero goggles and no other company gave him digital goggles, so HE'S TOTALLY BIASED. PLUS! He a DJI hater. For No Valid reason either, because there are no valid reasons to hate the very best! They've done nothing to you. DJI INVENTED DIGITAL FPV! They just make by far the best in digital FPV and some just love to hate the very best. Also, because he didn't get free goggles from the them! 😉👍💯

You forgot to mention that it is essential to fit Remote ID to all your drones, even if they're less than 250g (just because you can). It's a license plate for your drone! 😛
A gps tracking self identifying remote license plate, the best kind.
Government bot 😮
There are also analog box goggles from about $50 USD to $150 USD. Personally, I don't like the binocular type goggles and I wear eyeglasses so box goggles work for me. Whether you like them or not, box goggles are still an option especially if you are on a budget.
The ELRS comment at the end was my life last week… and then it all of a sudden works… like wtf?!
I'm gonna recommend the x lite, accept any module
Informative and humorous 😄...
DJI. 💯👍
HDZero is fine if you're a racer, #1.
@@KOrnhOliO1id rather have low fixed latency with hdzero then DJI with variable high latency also the fact you can’t have 1s whoops with DJI is crazy
Damn son this is an informative video. Very good.
I died when you went down the slide. I get it... the other guy.
I'm rocking the TX16S and I'm a pincher but really liking that Zoro but not sure if would be big enough for my gripping style don't wanna effect my overall flight style kinda scared lol I wanna try one out see if I like it
Loved it!
How do you adjust your ND filter? Like a pol filter or?
Can you adjust it or did you really change it?
I got a whoop and I build my own now get a bind and fly 65 mm happy model Mobula 6 and make it a mobula 7 with a new frame and bigger props
That was rad
Cool video dude 😎
In the bush baby!
Any sock recommendations?
Your demibot frame now has a copy. It may be called as the demi butt
GREAT video, but quick question....best googles for someone that has to wear glasses?
I used to get weed from a dude in high school and he would pinch!....Good video, you talked me into a Grinderino!
Hi, what analog 5" or 3,5" would you reccomend (i was thinking about nazgul5 v3, but i dunno if it has good video strenght)
i have radiomaster pocket, and will probably buy ev800d for first goggles, then upgrade to some good shit
Very informative
I smoked a motor on my foxeer yesterday trying to turtle mode out of my wife's laundry basket loll smoked that sucker lol
My bad 😂
i pinch on a gamepad i found i felt better than the ✈️ box lmaooo that’s interesting
I paid for patreon before i bought a drone myself, but i didnt listen, so im stuck with DJI
Boxer vs Tx16s?
Idk why I love analog but dji is seems to be way better in confidence levels, I really don't know yet what makes me loose signal
word up 5 stars
Hey Bot. Whats the most you would pay for fatshark HD3 goggles?
😂 Awesome fpv overview
fly you drone while swinging on that swing... see how long u can handle it;)
Awesome.
