The Spirit of Man.
Jennifer Ellison was made to play Beth she is just brilliant !!!!
Great Show You Must Go And See it !!!!!!!
Wow this is an awesome performance Shannon and Jennifer did a superb job. I have also seen the Russell and Tara version who also did a fantastic job but I much prefer the more rockier voice for the Parsons and this was great. Thanks so much for putting up the video.
Holy crap, that bit where she rose up.
I remember being in the audience at this show, and at that point I jumped so much xD
look between 10:24 and 10:26 firstly look at the speed that it is pulled up (that would be dangerous if somebody was inside it) and secondly you can see the light shining right through the gown!
This is absolutely rubbish. They slaughtered my favourite song! GET BACK TARA!
The DVD is awesome. Buy it. You'll need a region-free DVD player to watch it outside the UK.
From front row in glasgow it was fairly straight forward
jennifer walked on stage wearing the white slip on coat thing with wire attatched
Jennifer went down a trap door , the coat she was wearing was then pulled up with the wire,
sorry but it wasnt very high tech !!!
Anyone saying jennifer's out of tune is tone deaf, The quality of this doesn't do her voice justice.
Also anyone have any recordings of Damien Edwards as parson nathaniel as Shannon noll's replacement
I'm seeing the show tomorrrow in amsterdam.
Looking at this video i must say tara and russel were better.
but maybe i will say different after the show tomorrow
Oh God I was expecting her to be good after she sang in Phantom, shows how much technology changes voices!
Yeah i agree with ThePowerOfJessa Tara Blaise and Russell Watson the best!
The levitation illusion has got me... slightly creepy I have to admit..
Apparently there were NO strings/ropes attached, and apparently no other devices to rase the Tara's figure. The same people who worked on the illusions in the movie "the Illusionist" were hired by Jeff Wayne to pull this one off, it took 15 months of planning. It's a mystery how they managed to pull it off!
Simple. The actress playing Beth swapped with a body double when the cylinder entered the atmosphere, so that she can change into the ghost costume. Her robe had a framing around her head and shoulders so there was a very thin wire that pulled the hood up to the ceiling while the actress went down a trapdoor.
Personally I think Jennifer is awfull. Se sings out of tune and her acting hurts my ears, this is the only song I skip on the lice recorded cd. It was a great show, but I expected much more of this song.
Jennifer Ellison was by far the worst of all the actresses/singers to play Beth in the stage version so far. Thank God we have Kerry Ellis this year. Tara Blaise, Sinead Quinn and Liz McClarnon were good though. Russell Watson was the best Parson on the tour so far but Shannon Noll (and his understudy) and Rhydian Roberts were good too. Not John Payne so much. No news yet who will play the Parson this year. I know who I'd like and he'd be perfect with Kerry (and I'm sure Brian May would agree!).
I don't think that is Tara Blaise. Or mind blank. Russell Watson. They at least did a very admirable job. However, how do you beat Julie Covington as Beth or Phil Lynott in the original recording. That reminds me. Does anyone know if they are ever going to release the album again. The vinyl version. I live in the US and people are buying records again.
@DRfiguremaina it's meant to be her spirit telling nathaniel to stand up against the martians.
me and my dad just turned to each other when she first spoke and said
" i can't wait until she dies " xD
Phil Lynott is the only man to have done this right
This song will never be the same again and is it just me, or are the actors for Beth getting worse and worse with each re-casting?
your friend needs glasses !!
my comment was based on fact not theory.
from front row in glasgow you could clearly see the wires.
how did you think they done it .........mind power !
erm...why does beth fly!?! is it ment to be sybolic of death? or the handeling machine taking her to dinner?
Saw it last saturday, Shannon didn't make it due to family greviance, but it was fucking brilliant regardless
Thanks so much for putting up the full song it is amazing. Great to see our Aussie boy playing this famous part so well a part that is quite difficult going mad and singing at the same time. Saw the show here in Oz but these new extra bits are amazing!
Rydian plays a better parson but the best eveR parson was Phil lynott R.I.P
@MrGogotan check out the 2010 cast - you will not be dissappointed
that's correct! although this never explains your wire theory.
@DRfiguremaina The audio is horrible, but she sings OK.
sure are mate! I hope Jeff brings the show back to Aus!
Maybe some mysteries are better left unsolved.
i miss russel watsib he was the best in it
Is this an illegal black-market copy?
oh and the rest of the 1st tour
Seeing this in a few hrs
never beat phil lynott
@hsjames1 No, it's Jennifer Ellison and Shannon Noll.
@DantesTear gosh she is bad, just saw it live in brighton, OMG IT WAS SO AMAZING liz and rhydian (my new crush) were so good, they acted the parts and sang so well!!!
i miss russel watson he was awsome
it a shame he could no longer do it but it is still awsome
long live war of the world jeff wayne rules
it was a great show in HMH in amsterdam on the 30th of june.
I made the video on the other side
And yes russel watson and the other woman was better.
She's no Julie Covington, that's for sure.
Phil Lynott RIP, he nailed this part, not sure about this.
yesss, awesome show! i was there that evening block A2, row F, seat 35.
ill be there again next year
ICH WAR DA!!! Sensationell!
the 1st line up of tge war of the worlds tour ie russel wotson ect..
I know its a musical, BUT THE FIRST THING SOMEONE SHOULD DO, THE FIRST THING during an alien attack, the first thing people would do is SING?!? wow.
not *my* wire theory, although the gown is undoubtedly light enough that the wires could be so think that you would not see them, particularly with the lights and smoke everywhere.
