Gray, those weren't shotguns, they were Repeating Lever Action Rifles. Most likely Model 1887 Winchesters.

@@dylee818 They have different variations, the shotgun version is a single barrel variation, the actual lever action Repeater carbine rifle is what was shown in the game, it's basically a Lancaster Repeater from Red Dead Redemption 2.

Well, if you play this game again, I think you get further at the end by targeting only one of the pillars instead of trying to destroy all, unless your fire distance is pretty low, but if it goes far you should start focusing on breaking one at a time once it's no longer a _"one-shot"_
