Hype is getting boring. Pointless figures are also annoying. This is just marketing to build name and brand recognition during the lead up period.
When they make a hatch for around 30k that goes 500 miles at at a constant 70 MPH and recharges in 15 minutes or less with very minimal battery degradation, then, that is when the electric car market has caught up.
The real revolution in Tesla's model 2 may be that Tesla have solved the puzzle of making a production line for a carbon-fibre structural frame, at scale. This would reduce the total car weight by at least 50% meaning that economies of scale through efficienct would see a 55kwh battery pack capable of running for around 350 miles between charge, which would blow the rest of the market out of the water.
Tesla may have developed such a production line in collaboration with IDRA using a Giga-Press designed to press out structural elements made from carbon-fibre slurry under pressure and heat, with a proprietary cooling phase.
Yeah in general it is their inovation in materials and production that impress the most.
Could also be a Magnesium aloy frame, with the new CATL-batteries, 48V and stear by wire, add in ethernet, modular build an paintshop with Optimus productionline.
Cheap EV's doesn't mean poor quality. OEM pricing have been steadily rising getting more and more expensive, without much in the way of innovation. Affordable EV's only mean 1 thing, more customers driving more EV's, means bigger profit margins for shareholders. And no matter how one looks at it that's good for everyone.

WHY? In an EV, you leave your house every day with a full charge, why do you need lots of range? It's pointless and a waste of money
@@mcamodell I know my response is late but here. for most people that’s true however for me that’s just not possible as I dont have the ability for a good home charger and there’s no ev chargers in my city so my only choice would be to go through the trouble and a loot of money to get the necessary stuff for a actual charger that doesn’t take a week for a single charge or drive nearly a hour to the city which barely has any ev charging stations that I don’t even know if are available to the public.
Also just like outrageous battery capacity on phones just because it’s not needed doesn’t change the fact it’d be nicer to only have to charge once a week or less because I’d I prefer to be able to need to charge as less as possible

After a series of delays due to a GLOBAL pandemnic, production Cybertrucks were first delivered to customers in late November 2023. The Same two YEARS every other manufacturer fell behind.
Lower priced EV's are needed to advance to electric car market. And get people to drop gas. The only thing needed then, would be the advancement of solar and micro wind engineering to power charging station to advance as well.

Ford is going bankrupt as they loose tens of thousands on the all electric Ford F150 Lightning and Mach E mustang.
Ford stopped building its new battery plant, scaled back F150 Lighting production from 3 to one shift and may scale that back back to just 4 days a week of production.
Used Ford F150 Lightings are readily available.

Thus far, all Tesla's have been plug ugly. The Model S was probably the least worst looking of them. If the Model 2 is put up as a $25k car, then going off Tesla's track record, it will come in at about $40k. The $25k was probably nett of government rebates, and for a base model that they will never manufacture. Faster charging = higher peak loads on the grid - you already see charging rates throttled when more than one or two chargers are in use, so this will only get worse.
Regarding the cycle life of the batteries - it will doubtless be based on slow charging up to 80% capacity, discharge only to 20% remaining capacity. just as the claimed driving range is based on constant 28.8mph, with no hills, no wind, no stops or starts. It's all BS.
