    The reason for singeing the ends of the hair off is because back in the day people believed that hair was hallow like a straw and you would get sick from bad germs entering the hair so they would singe the ends to seal it shut after a haircut. This was something common even up til the 1960s.

      I haven't been everywhere, but I wouldn't say France is better than the US, assuming that's where you are from. It's got charm, soul, and style, but life in the US is much more comfortable and modern. Don't get me wrong, there was something about France that still pulls me and I wouldn't mind spending a few years living there to properly experience it, but you can absolutely find charm, soul, and style here, as well. You just have to travel around. We are a young, large nation. The flavor is still here, but more dispersed. It is not condensed together and slow-cooked for thousands of years like in Europe, and so must be sought out more deliberately.

      I'm going to be rational and say that this is not how the whole Italy looks like or even Europe.
      These are selected places. I bet you can find the same passionate people in America. It's a different culture for sure.

    • @9eightFilms

      +Wei Guo There are many, most dont market themselves as their founding clientele is all they need to survive.

    • @Macca-95
      @Macca-95 8 лет назад

      +Wei Guo I think that's kinda what he's getting at when talking about the artisanal arts and needing to start young which is not happening nowadays. There are fewer of these barbers today as people have become more complacent to the casual and the mundane.
