  • When i built my original newtons axe the viewers were split into 3, some loved it, some hated it and some felt that i should have put the balls in the shaft, which was a strange thought however i thought it was worth trying.

      just a suggestion do avoid the warping: to weld thin pipes without is nearly impossible. I work in a Lab, and when i have to bend hoses, i put quartz sand into it before using a torch. The heat will be spread to all parts equally. Maybe you put an steel rod into the handle or even try to fill it with quarz sand. I´m a great fan of your work, have a nice day.

      @@kegelschneckenmett2026 regular salt works basically the same as Quartz sand, but it's infinitely cheaper... you just need to make it anhydrous first by baking at 350-400-ish for a couple of hours. MUCH better option outside of a lab with a lab budget.

    though this did work as an ax
    unfortunetly the last one did better
    the purpose of a deadblow/newtons law tool. isn't to put extra force behind the tool
    its to stop the tool from bouncing back at the user.
    this one you could literally see the tool still bouncing at the end of some of these strikes
    very pretty build but mechanically its basically just a rattling ax that wants to fly out of your hand at the end of every swing

      I'm unsure if he realizes that Newton's Cradle and Dead Blow are the same thing here. Four months ago, he created a version with pipes and balls in the head of the axe called Newton's Axe, the V1 of this video. Seven months ago, he made another version where he put two cavities in the axe head filled with BBs and named it the Dead Blow Recoiless axe. It's the same effect presented in two different ways, and the BBs are much quieter than the balls. If you add a rubber lining in the cavities, the BB design will be almost silent. As you said, Newton's cradle doesn't create any force amplification.

    It has to do with 2 properties: Newtons 1st law: 'an object in motion remains in motion at constant speed and in a straight line' and the principle of centralized force. Basically, the beads start at your grip as you swing the axe down, giving you the velocity of swinging just the axe head without the weight of the beads slowing you down. now that its in motion the beads move toward the head but the force applied is still downward (centralized force) and the further they travel the faster they go, adding to the force and velocity at the axe head. By the time you reach impact, the beads are adding their entire applied force and their velocity downward, while not requiring extra effort to swing it. It like swinging a 5 lb hammer, and having someone swing another 5lb hammer onto the back of your hammer. The literal opposite of a deadblow.

    Looks wicked mate, only thing I'd improve is to put spacers/gaskets between the balls to take out some of the extra noise, you could probably use foam exercise mats to cut them out of, just a thought. Alternatively, if you used steel or brass stock to make cylindrical weights that'd probably work just as well and be less noisy overall with the gaskets.

  • @HalfWolf2
    @HalfWolf2 25 дней назад

    As someone who chops wood recently frequently, I think an adaption of this idea, geared instead of towards a deadblow type design, but rather towards shifting the center of mass, because as I'm sure anyone who uses an axe properly knows, you have to slide one hand up the shaft to lift after reach strike, and slide it down as you swing to give it power, the reason of course being to be the most energy efficient with weight, but what if you made a chopping axe with a shifting center of mass so when you pick it up normally, it's near the bottom, so it's easier to lift it with your hands already mostly prepped to swing, and then as you swing it down, the momentum + angle shifts all of the weight to the head, thus increasing the power of the blow massively
    Thats what I expected this video to be, and it's kind of done that, but I'd like to see a purpose built axe for this job

      do you throw casually? or do you throw WATL or IATF? i've been throwing axes for four years and worked at an axe throwing bar for two and a half. idk what sort of chaos would ensue during the throw, and it depends on your throwing style. if you throw handle vertical the weight transfer could have erratic results on the rotation rate. if you throw handle horizontal or anti-vertical then the balls would be at the end and it would be just like throwing a really heavy headed axe.

    I just don’t think it actually does anything. Like how does a similar weight axe perform compared to this.

    Okay. This is a ridiculous suggestion. If the balls flew up the handle, then were forced towards the rear of the head by a curved 90° turn, they would impart a pushing force on the axe head, towards the front of the axe. To go completely insane, give the balls a path straight forward after that, to let their momentum drive it in deeper. Though at that point, it might be better to let them return through the original path, to help pull it out if it would have gotten stuck.
