Of All The Things I Think Of When I Think Of Freddie, Modesty Is Not One Of Them. He Knew How Great He Was & He Threw It Out There Every Time He Performed. He Was THE Front Man & It Showed!!! We Got To Grow Up & Old To THE BEST MUSIC EVER!!!
@@JANICEFALKNER-d2l he was modest off the stage. He just had this stage persona, which made him seem like arrogant or something, like Freddie said himself
A powerful, confident and varied album. John says it all. The Works is brilliant, pure Queen. Everyone at the top of their game. And Johns extraordinary hair was at its hugest! 😂
no leader just 4 equal band members who all wrote massive #1 hits and all brought something special to queen who else achieved this? no band i know of still wish i was born to watch them play live! :( r.i.p freddie your legacy will live forever :))
I like that all members talking and yes they should be equal like Freddie said, all of them wrote songs and played and singing and Freddie was the lead singer. All of them are Queen
when Freddie said, we have a bunch of songs before an album and we only pick the best... am l the only one that wants to hear the other songs they didn't pick? I mean, any song I never heard , that Freddie sang would be one I'd want to listen to anyway. I hope they didn't erase those rejected songs
"The works" was a truly excellent album, although it does not contain so many songs. The interview with Freddie shows his sense of humour with brazilian interviewer.
I love how in the music video for I Want To Break Free Freddie is just dusting everything randomly like yes of course his shoulder needs dusting what are you talking about
I'm starting to believe the rumours that I get from fellow Queenies that people at Queen Productions are lazy. Audio-video out of sync again. Come on, you're working for legends, might as well do an amazing job.
Its been like this with Queen for many years...they just dish things out without much thought. I remember being in the fan club in the 80s and the magazines always arrived after everything Queen was to do was already done. ie...one magazine said Queen to release new album and to tour but by the time the magazine was posted out, not only was the album already out, but all the singles off it were released and their tour had been and gone.
CaptainShamrock66 Hahahaha, really?! That's priceless.... Well, stop putting the "official" this or that on a pedestal then. Queen themselves are high-quality kind of people, but the idea that the "official" version of things must always be better is a myth. They merely mirror their own (rather limited) idea of Queen. I'm rather interested in how someone thinks or feels for themselves, not the commercial blabla (I know it must be there, too, just don't take it as the final word).
Практически не знаю английского, но Фреди хорошо понимаю... Иногда не нужно знать язык, чтобы понять характер человека, его боль, его чувства... Фреди, ты супер..

I would love to know who manages Queen's RUclips channel. While there are some great aspects about it, like the Playlists, I don't understand why a couple of videos are out of sync with the Audio. Queen is a Musical Group, and therefore their RUclips channel should have the best audio quality!
"The Works" almost sounds like a greatest hits compilation. In terms of lyrics writing or musical finesse, it isn't quite on par with their finest albums from the 1970s or Innuendo. Nontheless it is an outstanding pop album containing no less than 4 of Queen's greatest hits. I don't think any other major pop band ever managed to change their style so much over the years and still remain that succesful. Not just in the in Europe and North America but everywhere - especially thanks to this album. Something else... From a present day perspective it feels weird to hear Brian feeling pressured to justify their use of synthesizers. Analogue synthesizers can be just as "emotional" and "real" as any electric guitar. As long as you play your instruments live, it really doesn't matter what kind of power-amplified instrument it is. The live music concept isn't threatened, until you start using backing tracks excessively or bring a laptop on stage.
@@luciaflt According to the dictionaries, there is no crystal clear distinction between 'pop[ular] music' and 'rock music'. So let's agree to call this album 'pop rock'. Generally Queen would indeed be labelled as a rock band. But their goal always was to spread their talents across multiple genres. For example, John Deacon was never into rock music. Brian wrote several folk music tunes, and Freddie did almost anything... And what would you call "Hot Space"?
They changed so much from their early days but there are some themes that carry on throughout like Brian's unique guitar playing and Freddie's unmistakable voice. But yeah sometimes I hear a song like Liar and a song like Radio Gaga and find it crazy that it's the same band.
Hot Space wasn't bad. But it was dance oriented. Certainly an experiment with new elements. But somehow it wasn't "really" Queen. I can well imagine the arguments when recording Hot Space lol. With The Works they were back on track Symbol „Von der Community überprüft“
U are the official Queen RUclips channel yet most of your vids are out of sync with the sound. Queen is known for their perfection and attention to detail in their music this is no good u need to fix this.
It might have been hard to have all his essence reduced to being gay when being gay was just a part of who he was that didn't necessarily had anything to do with his art. In this particular case he was probably fed up of having "the gay thing" dominating the interviews and taking the focus of what their music really talks about.
Rei rizqi, exactly. Similarly, a genuine biopic film about Freddie should really focus a lot more on his extraordinary talent, kindness and the astonishing fact that he was such a loving person in spite of being sent away, alone, on a 3 month journey, aged 8, from Zanzibar to boarding school in India. So far, only European documentaries (a couple are available on youtube) even mention that appalling trauma from his very early childhood. No wonder Freddie struggled with loneliness - feelings of abandonment/being so utterly alone at such a very young age, must have absolutely haunted him at times. The press during Freddie's lifetime and up till now have mostly chosen to ignore him as a whole person, only focusing on one narrow aspect of his life. The recent biopic/film reminded me a lot of the media response to Freddie's illness while I was living in London '90s. He was MUCH more than 'that flamboyant ' bisexual etc. No offense meant but Freddie deserves MUCH better than to be constantly categorised and stereotyped in such a small-minded way
yeah, he means a lot to the lgbtq community, so hearing that dismissive language was kind hurtful. but i get it, it was a different time, he was very closeted, he probably got defensive at the suggestion of him associating with the "gay world", especially because he was paranoid about his parents finding out he'd been having male partners.
A very tortured person, this Freddie (of whom I am actually very fond) - why put oneself through so much stress, all that emotion just gets used for negative purposes, you know? What's wrong with knitting a blouse? It would be Freddie's blouse design, not anyone else's.... :D His real message barely, barely made it out, because nobody actually knew HOW he felt. But anyway, that's all past now. It's when looking at these vids that I see it: his freedom sometimes shines through, the way he was really like. But most of the time he's struggling with this hidden torture, which is a burden, as opposed to helping creativity.
+Adina Ispas I agree he was in a way tortured - especially when it came to wanting to have someone, but seemingly never finding somebody stable and long-term (except maybe Jim in the last years of his life, and Mary of course). He was also hedonistic to the extreme - which I see as mostly being a superficial front (we all know he was actually very reserved - so why all that excessive fun seeking?). So this combination of hedonism, together with the constant need for companionship (mostly sexual) cost him a very dear price, unfortunately.
"We're all, equal people, four members, I'm only the lead vocalist"... How modest he was...
Actually it was like this... he has never been the leader. He was the lead singer and the frontman. Queen was a democracy!

"Let Me Live" from their Made In Heaven album is from The Works sessions so I'm guessing that's at least 1 of the tracks that was dropped

Yes! My thought exactly. That part where he gently tweaked the interviewer's cheek was our favorite part of the whole interview.
This is great thanks Queen :)
This is the first time I see and hear John Deacon actually talking.
