The teachers didn’t appreciate it and said it was dangerous, so the tube slide got banned for that whole year.

Apparently, the Swirlygig is meant to be rode on; by hooking your legs around it in the right way you can sit on the swirl and slide down it, rotating around the central pole. Like spinning around a regular pole, but on your ass and it does it for you. I've never met a single person IRL who was aware of this. Everyone I've ever seen interacting with or that I have interacted with on a Swirlygig either used it as an awkward ladder or torturous confinement device. But that's the magic of childs' play; recontextualizing the environment around you to suit whatever play is happening in the moment. I used to go to a park as a kid that had a GIANT swirlygig and everyone there knew how to use it where I was at least, turns out that when kids do know how to use it they usually try to become a human centrifuge then fly off trying to spiral down it as fast as they can which usually ended in a lot of kids eating wood chips or getting brain damage by knocking their head against the other equipment on the way down gg.

Best playground ever growing up was one in my local Town it was huge , built 100-percent out of wood and had all sorts of weird little nooks and crannies that you could crawl into. Basically a giant pirate ship with Bridges linking all the spires and shit was pretty cool.

The playground near my house used to have a zipline thing. It was a large handle with a wheel that rode alone a rail, and it was badass. It had a little round platform at the end to get off of it. We also had the talking tubes and to me they were like the weird little speakers in the Teletubbies intro that say "Time for Teletubbies!".
There was a playground in my apartment complex when I was in middle school, it was made of wood and is was basically just a fuck hut for the high school kids when their parents were home. It was enclosed so you could sneak in there do your business and no one would know. Before anyone asks yes this was in Florida.
