The name of the type of molded plastic (flower basket & house) is called syroco (sir-O-co) manufactured by the Syracuse Ornamental Company.
They used to use wood pulp but switched over to plastic in 1960. ❤
Hi. Apologies for the essay I’m about to write. But you did ask, soooo…..That hummingbird piece. Ugh! I’m dying over it. It”s made from Mexican Ironwood trees (or “olneya tesota tree) one of the top three hardest woods in the world. You can tell by the weight and color and the base. They’re all that dark polished wood, usually weighty depending on the piece, and the base usually always looks yours or a version of yours. I collect Ironwood figures. I have about 50 or more now. I live in Arizona so all I ever find are Native American pieces, Cactus, roadrunners, animals (Bears, Bison, Horses, Bald eagles, etc, and sea animals, turtles, sprinkle of sea shells. I’ve NEVER seen such a beautiful delicate piece like yours though. I’m having Ironwood envy. It breaks my heart that you’re separating the bird from its perch. I’ve been begging through the screen for you to keep them together. But, of course, you do what you want with it. 😊 I also found one of those Japanese wood dolls you mentioned. I thought it was so unique so I bought it from goodwill. After that I did a little research on them. The Japanese dolls are called “Kokeshi”. Kokeshi are wooden dolls that originate from the Töhoku region of north-eastern Japan and which emerged as a folk craft from hot spring mountain villages at the end of the Edo period (1603-1868 CE). They came into existence when wood turners in the villages started making them as toys for their children. There’s several different styles based on the region of Japan they’re from and can be worth a lot of money. If you ever see those at a thrift store again, I’d buy them and resell them on eBay or Facebook marketplace. Hope that helps. Love your show!!
I’m not separating the hummingbird from its bird.. just showing it was still intact?
@@GingerChickRehab Oh Yay. I’m so happy. Thank you for taking time out of busy schedule to calm my poor Ironwood heart. 😊
The hummingbird Ironstone was fantastic!!! ❤❤❤
OH MY GOODNESS! People are really in to Lucite now and that seed napkin holder was so BOHO. How cute. 😊
It’s a laundry plunger! I make birdhouses with them as the roof on a vintage coffee can - they’re so cute!
Cute idea❤
Oh my, the hummingbird. My precious mama loved hummingbirds. I recently lost my mama and seeing the hummingbird, I knew my mama was with me…
❤
Oh the wooden drawers with book sections on the top! Imagining it with Bibles!
Hi dear Yvonne. Luv from Australia. When you saw the iridescent angels at the start, it reminded me of another Christian decor designer David Christophers, whose RUclips videos could be great inspo for the fun Christmas combinations you do in your tins etc. He also likes iridescent items in his designs. He has themes with elves, colourful Christmas lights, etc, as well as stunningly gorgeous wreaths, trees, door pockets etc. I love that he'll even put floral and fruit picks in his trees, garlands and wreaths.
That little truck would have been darling in spring with the pastel bottle brush trees!
Can’t believe I’m 2 days late in watching this video but I too have been busy doing makeovers.
It’s always fun going shopping with you. Also to see what you find. I thought you did quite well with your haul. Yvonne, thanks so much for thinking of us n to share what found. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍🌟🐈⬛🐈⬛🙏🙏
Those are Kokeishi dolls. We were stationed in Japan and I have two that I bought when there.
The two vintage wall hangings were made from Syroco. 😊 Loved the video and your haul. 😊
Wow! $ 1.00 for a bundle of 5 wooden hangers...awesome deal! I can visualize the little green rocker displaying Christmas decor! ❤It! Adorable little ghost! The little ceramic flower cottage...simply too cute..not my style but still Adorable! The set of tiny birdhouses are sweet. I'm hoping you have plans to use the chunky footed riser in a project! ❤. ❤the old suitcase..Ohhhh the terra cotta bunny& bird...love'em just like they are! I love how you are always so appreciative of us and thanking us! I do...and I know everyone else really appreciates your sincere thank you's! God Bless and continued prayers!❤🙏❤️
The little wooden doll is from Japan. My dad brought one back for me in the 80’s. ❤
Great haul. Thanks for sharing😊
I’m a Steelers fan loved the S&P shakers.🖤💛🖤💛
I saw on Pinterest, the shutters made into a wall shelf.
Loved your haul, I wouldn’t be in the hoarding situation I’m in right now if I shopped like you…selectively.
not a plunger , it is washing thing to wash clothes. i use them in all my bedrooms to stack toilet paper on. oh yea and the thrift store is called Leg A See.
What a cute idea for those!
Soooo many goodies! Of course a
You had a busy day 6 stores. Enjoyed shopping with you. ❤
Thank you so much for taking us along, I love your ironstone in your cabinet in the back ground and the vintage fan. Beautifully styled home
Loved shopping!!❤ OMG that carved tulip with humming bird?!?! I love that piece...are you tempted to keep it for yourself? Oh my gosh, (I would 😊).
🥰
The metal plunger thing is a clothes washing plunger I think.
Yvonne, nice to see you at your “old stomping grounds!” Your experience has made you more discriminating in your selections! Good for you!
That little truck would have been a great aged patina project. Then it could be used for absolutely every season. You got some great pieces! Thanks for taking us along! 🤍
Hello, I think the plunger you saw was for cleaning clothes. Way back when you would heat up a big pot of water and put your clothes in it most likely using lye soap . Then take that plunger and use it to move and push your clothes up and down. I might be wrong but I'm 77 and I remember my grandma using something like that. So for what it's worth, I think it would look cool in a garden setting, that's what I would do with it. Take care
I have a shelf I made out of a shutter. I used pallet wood, crackle pain and change out decor for every holiday. And of course rusty stars attached
I sooooo wish that I had that many stores to go to.....Love every thing you bought and let's face it, you can't buy everything....Hope you're feeling better
You found some great things today. I have always thrift for flowers for the graveyard because I do 7 graves but all the stores that I thrift has went up a lot. I just try to catch Hobby Lobby and others when they have a clearance sale.
So fun watching ❤
That certainly was a blast from the past, i remember you going to GW every days, I do love the evolution to actions, and estate sales, but this was fun, thank you for sharing, I am still praying for you. Yvonne,
I think that the Hummingbird is made out of Iron Wood. Love your videos!
That was the perfect basket for your front door. I am still laughing about the candy jar. Maybe the people in the back thought they were buttons. 🤣
Thanks for sharing! Great finds! My fave is the hummingbird!❤
I would have bought the adorable truck but you found a lot of great items!😍
The terracotta bunny and bird are my faves!
I really enjoy thrifting with you! So much fun and you got some great items! The hummingbird is my favorite. Prayers for good blood work! thanks for sharing your hauls! Nana Brenda
I like terracotta to, it's so rustick . ❤😊
The little musical instrument is called a kalimba (or an "mbira") They're very beautiful to listen to! My son plays one that he picked up during pandemic lockdown.
The hummingbird looks exactly like one I bought & sent to my sister when I lived in San Pedro, Belize! So many beautiful types of wood there & items they make…
It’s always fun for me to watch you do your shopping trips. I like seeing what is sold up there as opposed to here. The prices are getting ridiculous in thrift stores now. I also watch a couple of other resellers and compare what they buy to sell also. It shows me the difference in age affects what is bought and sold. 😊❤
Those little bird houses would make gorgeous Xmas tree ornaments
I love the basket with liner and the hand carved hummingbird. Is that plunger looking thing used to tamp down the ground? The jar with old candy was too funny. Thanks for taking us along!
laundry plunger😊
You had a great day Chickie! Sometimes it's good to get out by yourself. Love it when you take us along, always fun to see what's out there. Can't wait for some fall flipping. God Bless. Hugs and Prayers. Rebekah. Hi Chris.
Yvonne, I just love your shopping trips and how creative you are with all your wonderful finds!
I’m with you on the ginger jars! No thank you!
Very fun!
Great hauls
One of my fave Goodwills prices a ton of things at $1.09 and the other stores I go to all start at $2.09 so it really does seem to vary by location.
I believe you can spray paint hydrangeas. The florist spray painted real ones for my daughter’s wedding and they were beautiful.
I so enjoy your hauls!
I love your hauls! Thank you for taking us along. Can't wait to see you make that wreath.
Loved the lil blue truck. How fun to spend the day thrifting! Thanks for sharing!!
The tin thing you thought was a plunger…it is but used for washing in tubs…
Forgot...the lucite ghost is AWESOME!
Children rocking chairs sell well during Christmas. 😊
Wow you found Kokeshi dolls at a thrift store! I wonder if they were priced to flip? 😮 People love them ❤
I have a set of 3 of those birdhouses & I love them. I've had them for years.
Yvonne, that item that looks like a plunger is actually a washing stick. You would put your clothes in a water filled galvanized tub with soap and use that tool to push up and down in the water in the motion of an agitator. All manual, before electric washing machines.😊
Thanks for the info
So awesome to have that many thrift stores together. Where I live we have 10 thrift stores in 3 cities. 4 of them Goodwill’s
I love the little ghost. ❤
You are lucky if you find the cheese boxes. We never find them where I am out, especially at a price where it would be worth reselling it!
Always sad when your videos are over. I’m not a reseller but I love to go thrifting and antiqing. Thanks for sharing.
Japanese kokeshi dolls good ones.
Thank you for taking us along thrifting with you! What fun! Good finds too! Can’t wait to see what you do with everything! You always inspire me! Prayers always to you and your family ❤
20:03 those Blue Sky pieces can go for some good money, depending on style and condition…I always pick those up when I see one I like.
The metal object was a laundry " posser " used in a tub before washing machines and I'm old enough to remember my Mother usind a wooden one ! 😊
I love your hauls and redo's!
Mushrooms ! Ha ha ! I feel you !
Thanks for taking us along❤..I’ve had for years a Terra cotta pumpkin with the cut out face I light it up every year..got it at a junk store years ago
Fun stuff
Fun video!!
Nice haul! My mom collected those little metal/ iron pencil sharpeners for years and years, when she passed she had an entire display case full of nothing but them. Strictly a collectors item for sure. Thanks for taking us along. xx
Love the little hand mirror!! Will it be in your booth? I didn’t realize there were so many thrift stores in Battle Creek!
The "plunger" was for washing clothes in a wooden tub
Our GW does things at $.99
I live in area if 500,000 people. We only have about 7 thrift stores. 4 are Goodwills . I rent in the only Antique mall ( 11,000 sq. feet ) . and in fact there is only one other antique store in the area and it is real tiny and is at least 12 miles from our store.
Plunger was used to wash cloths back in the day..
Don't pass up those smaller to medium metal pieces that can be glued. There is a product call welding glue that works fantastic! I've used it on a few things and it "welds" wonderfully and last super. I bought it on Amazon
i was saying pick up the kokeshi dols pick them up!! lol
The plastic is called Syroco Wood. It was used a lot in MCM decor
Check the value on that Warren Kimble chicken before you decide to paint the frame. I don't think it would really affect the value, but you might want to check first.
❤❤❤❤❤
Hi, why not by the wood hanger s and paint them, you’re favorite color s? We ❤ your stuff that you paint 😊
Is the chicken pitcure a Warren Kimble? If it is i would try to sell as is first.😊
It may be…
It is a laundry plunger / dasher
The plastic house pieces might be Sirocco.
❤
The smiley faces on the sunflowers could easily be covered with paper clay and glue because the bisque ware is so porous that the glue and paper clay would stick great! ❤❤❤❤❤. Those regrets are for real! But, truly, stuff needs to talk to us and let us know what they could potentially become. I’ve had items scream at me, and I walk away knowing that I will surely regret leaving them. 😢 But, in the end we get what sings to us to be creative!! Crazy 🤪 right?!!😂😂😂😂
❤😊😊😊
Shopping is fun, but I would rather watch projects.
You could've used the "good" one to make the missing pieces out of air dry clay for the other ones!
I think I have seen you use Fusion paint before? I'm wondering ( it's mineral based and has a built in sealer) if you can apply an IOD transfers to it? I have tried to contact IOD...but no reply. Can you help me? I have a piece of furniture I want to paint.
4:52 Japanese Kokeshi dolls
10:17 isn’t that frame already black?
It’s hunter green

I think it’s legacy thrift as in “that will be her legacy.”
Wood possibly from Costa Rica Coco bolo wood is v😊ery dark and hard. I would keep it
The mushroom looks like a cookie jar & not a canister to me.
where I am from we call them Mexican maytags.
