I'm a mess with my sketchbook too. I do a lot of scribbly and unfinished things as well as quick coloured sketches. This palette looks so cool, I really want one now! Haha.

HulloAlice That's so funny...! I would let my Mum borrow my set for the day especially as she did say when her one arrives you can have the new one & has given you all of the Wonderful Paints she used to use, But that's just me.

Great palette! The only thing I don't like is the little slider thing that connects it all together. It seems like it would be easy to lose.
That was totally a concern of mine that I totally spaced on mentioning in the video! ahhh!! I tested out hooking it on the side of the water cup which worked pretty well, but I think in reality I'd probably just put it in my pencil case where I keep my pencil/eraser/etc. or in my bag until I was done using it.
I mostly use acrylics but after watching this I've been inspired to start doing watercolor. Thank you!
Besides the helpful review, I love the aesthetics of your videos-the succulent, amethyst crystal, and candle are all so relaxing

I just convinced some friends to go in on three of these to cut down the cost, especially useful for me as I am in the UK and shipping and VAT plus handling fees put it in the too expensive category previously. The downside is I probably won't get mine until I visit the US over the summer. Looking forward to using this in Chicago at the USK Symposium. Love your review and your painting.

I LOVE your painting because of the 3- depth you got. The girl is popping out from the trees. Liked your review on the portable pallet too. That could help as I travel a little. I think it was a very smart design.

Hey Alice. Fan from Aus here! Have you done a review of the Mijello Gold paints? I bought these pretty cheap on eBay, came with it's own palette as well. I'd love to get your opinion on them :)
Also, while the portable painter is $30 for the Americans, it's almost double that (without postage) for australians. Still, the portable winsor and newton palette is almost $250, so paying less for this portable one seems like a pretty good saving :)

I have the WN travel kit! I don't use it on-the-go, like you're supposed to, but it works well for me. When my paints in there run out I'm going to slowly replace them with professional colors!

the palette looks amazing! but after months of use, do you feel like the aluminium clasp would be misplaced easily?
That's one of my biggest concerns; I haven't misplaced it yet though which is good!
Oh, a quick heads up...I ordered mine around 3 weeks ago and it still hasn't shipped yet. I did notice that Indiegogo holds funds and only releases them once a month, so I am presuming that this is the cause of the delay. It seems longer because I am soooooooooo excited about this (which is another good reason that Alice should give me hers...)
According to the email Steve sent me, they received a small shipment of palettes in December which they used to fulfill early contributions. The next production run is expected to arrive within a few days by now, and he said that from that point forward they should have plenty of inventory to meet ongoing demand! :D

The main advantage from this design is when the palette is used in a sitting position. When painting standing, one doesn’t know where to fix it on top of an easel. And, sadly, I discovered that the plastics are not impact resistant: while pondering how to stabilize the palette, this crashed against the hard stone floor and broke one of the hinges, making the palette unusable. Winsor & Newtons palettes are by far sturdier and cheaper.

How long do travel palettes usually last, if you use them quite often?
I love this especially the price! My only concern is I feel like I would lose a piece of it. Like the clip that holds it together. 😂
+Kassuhday I was worried about that too! I hung the clip on the side of the water cup or I put it in my pencil case while I was using it!
Kassuhday I actually use a thick rubber band to hold mine together as the metal clip was a bit too tight fitting for my arthritic hands to open easily, so if you did lose it, it's no big deal :)
