Thank you for this tutorial, this was very helpful with the pleating process, this will give me more of a sense of accomplishment in wrapping beautiful gift boxes. Again thank you.
You're very welcome! This method will help you make beautiful pleats designs in the beginning. Once you get used to the process, you'll be able to continue making beautiful paper pleats without the cardboard strips. 😉
Thank you for following my tutorial and incorporating the pleats designs into your gift wrapping! You can make the package special just by adding some pleats to your paper. I'm glad your friend (the receiver) loved your gift wrapping! 😊
You're tutorials are amazing!!! Thank you for sharing your talent!!! Where do you purchase the beautiful wrapping paper that is featured in your videos?
For me the most challenging thing is decorations. Covering the box is easy....getting the decoration on is hard. I can do ribbon weaving. I can do just straight ribbon but I often make my gifts wrapping super minimal because I can't seem to decorate the box appropriately. Be it bow or other decorations just never seems right.
I am known for my elaborate decorations, but never tried any wrapping techniques like this before. If you want to do elaborate bows, start with a good wired ribbon. I wind my ribbon around and around to a little over the size I want. Then I cut as close to the middle as possible Use a ruler if needed to find the center. I then cut about 1/4 if the way through the center of the ribbon and use a small piece of pipe cleaner to tightly pull the bow together. Usually I have about seven wraps. The inside of these will be smaller than the outside, so I pull those up first. I keep pulling the "loops" of this bow out in a circular pattern until all are evenly spaced. They will fluff out with the smaller loops on the top, and the larger ones underneath. With wired ribbon it will work out and you just have to keep working at it until you get the spacing to where you want it. Then I take whatever decorations I am wanting to use and just start playing with them until I get something I like around or in the bow. At this point I grab my glue gun. I always keep mine on low temp. Burns are no fun! Glue decorations in it under the bow. At this point you have to decide if you want the bow removable for someone to keep. My philosophy is to just glue it directly onto the ribbon I have placed around the gift. They can cut it off to save. You can glue it onto just a piece of matching ribbon, though, and tie it so the ribbon and bow will slip off easily. If this is not clear., I will try to clarify if you want. Wire ribbon,+ glue gun + decorations + patience.😃😃
JayKB the beginning bow part is a little hard to follow with the cutting. I have never seen anything like what you are describing. But your bows sound amazing.
Kitarra Chaosweaver It's hard to say what I do. I teach by showing.😃. I take the ribbon and if I am going to want a six inch now, I start with about a 7" loop around my hand. I keep winding that over my hand, usually 7 times. More for a 10,". less for a 5.". When I have it so there should be about 6-7, depending on desired bow size, wraps around my hand, I will find the mid-point, 3 1/2". At the 3 1/2" mark, I cut about 1/4 of the way down from the top of these loops and 1/4 of the way up as I am holding the looped, winded ribbon in front of me. That is so that you want to be able to shape each loop into a graceful loop around the middle point. A pipe cleaner (I get colorful, sparkly, etc pipe cleaners from the Dollar Tree or Walmart. Michaels has them, also I think.). The pipe cleaner holds the bow tightly enough to work each loop. If you cut about 1/4 of the ribbon away on each side of the ribbon, it makes the loops of the bow much easier to twist into shape. It does take some practice to get the loops to form gracefully, bit the wired ribbon works quite well. If you are a Costco member, that is the absolute best place to get wired ribbon. It's good quality and the best value! I get some, especially after Christmas, from Michaels. But even then it's expensive compared to Costco's. If this is not clear yet, please tell me. I'm on meds that make it hard to make myself as clear to others as I think I have. 😃. It is really easy to do beautiful bows this way. You won't even need decorations. I also do just a regular bow out of the wired ribbon, and like to make two of them, turning the backs together so the ends show on both sides of the bow. Glue in an ornament of some kind in the middle.... A now that no one will throw away!
Loved it but doing it you realise there's so much that isn't explained like how to measure the paper out/present size because you want neat ends. How to finish the ends aren't explained either so that they still look neat. Beautiful to watch though. If I did a course would these things be properly covered? These seem to be tools rather than cardboard and I made my own
I am known for elaborate bows, but have trouble with the simplicity of yours. Mine can take 2+ hours. I would really like you to do ia demonstration of how to tie bows like you do. Mine come out looking too "scrunched."
2+ hours to make bows...! You're very patient, JayKB! Don't worry, you're not alone. When I was learning and practicing gift wrapping techniques, the hardest was always to create the perfect bows with different textured ribbons. When I became a gift wrapping instructor, I noticed that many of my students struggled the most to make bows in nice presentations. I'll make an updated version of the basic bow tutorial! 😉
Like a sphere shape? I currently have these tutorials for wrapping a sphere shape: ruclips.net/video/3WC6j67ZWAE/видео.html ruclips.net/video/KfE3GI68VQU/видео.html I'll make another video for wrapping sphere a shape gift since it's a popular shape, especially around the holiday season!
The tape I'm using in the video is called HEIKO double stick tape 10mm but it's only for sale in Japan. There are many companies sell exactly the same style tape, you can google "white double sided tape" or "white double stick tape" to find the best place to buy in your country.

JayKB Oh! That makes much more sense. I am going to try that technique. Thank you so much for the idea!!!!
I'd love to hear how you do. 😃. I have taught several classes and always am encouraged to see the results. :-)
