I would like to add one tip to solve the issue if not recognising the magic remote by the TV when you are sure that the remote is new and also the batteries. The method is to make sure you are at the main TV screen without any app is open (the screen that has pictures changing) and then with your remote pointing at the TV you have to press and hold the back and home button for five seconds until you see the red button is blinking three times(sometimes will not blink), do that twice, then press the back button three times and last hold the middle scroll button for three seconds, you will see a notification at the top mentioning the linking Hit a like if it helped! Edit: Make sure that there is no other remote is registered is near the TV, to un-register previously linked remote, just press and hold the home and back button while pointing toward the TV for five second until you see the blinking red button

This was an exceptional video!! We ended up running to the music store and buying a few widths of guitar picks, and it worked like a charm!!) Still had to order a new remote, but only because it was a worn out roller. For cleaning, and fixing any other problems, this was perfect. Cause was that a used battery had leaked and the fluid was on the circuit board. Fixed by opening remote (your tips) & cleaning circuit board with alcohol wipe (your tip but available in my house post covid) & closing up (your tip). Having your video made the whole operation less scary for a regular dad. Now I am a hero (in my own mind).
My LG OLED has the finest picture I have ever seen. The remote is a little annoying but I am going to try to clean it now that I can see how to get into it.
Purchased my LG OLED in 2019 at Best Buy Outlet. No problems other than batteries died without the typical ‘replace batteries soon’ warning. No more cheapo batteries for this remote :)

Good video. It a must to clean remote controls in a while, BUT..cleaning under the rubber buttons with alcohol can remove the conductive solution on them, so that the dont do the connection any more!!! You can check if the buttons work with your mobile camera (that can see IR (Infrared light). 😉

The cleaning didn't work on my power button, I stll have to press it with to thumbs force in order to it to work, when it was new (its my second magic remote: the first was the same and eventually it stoped working) it worked fine.
Had wheel and arrows not working. What fixed it for me, was holding back and home for 5 seconds. This resets remote, and installs new software if needed.
Clean the contacts using a cloth? Doesn't make a difference. There is a plastic film over the metal domes. One of my keys is very intermittent, even pressing with the PCB exposed, it still doesn't work. In my case without taking the plastic film off, it isn't easy to diagnose. Annoying that the broken key is an often used one, as many of the keys I never ever use. Genuine spare remotes are stupidly expensive.
Can anyone help? The circle left and right doesn't work when I'm watching videos (used to be able to scroll fwd and backwards in the video with it). Up and down still works perfectly in video. However, the left and right also works when I'm scrolling on home screen. It's just whenever I'm watching a video. How do I fix that?

It was the first trick. Unplug the TV and HDMI. Works fine again now. Not sure what went wrong because it works just fine again as it was setup before

The scroll won't work, but clicking does??? Also I think it has motion control, but it won't work.
Mine is not making weird controls. When i press left and right button it reads as mute. Making it unable to navigate through selections.
