Paul is a melodic genius. has written umpteen gorgeous melodies with beautiful arrangements. He wrote Yesterday when he was 20, the most covered song in the history of music.
He is just one of the greatest song writers of contemporary music. Songs like these go unnoticed by many, but it is still a masterpiece in its own right nonetheless.
This wonderful human being has blessed us with his heart that finds these beautiful melodies and the words that weave around them one after another for all these years. To have been on this planet at the same time since 1964 and have the Beatles, then Paul, as the soundtrack to my life has been a profound joy. This man is a poignant poet. There’s “genius” and then there is Paul McCartney.
Without question the greatest songwriter/singer from my generation. Others may have been more hip and witty with their words but none could touch the musical ability of Paul. There is a reason he is still at the top of the heap today. Music just oozes from his pores and this is another great song written by him.

This song is perfect in every way. Sublime lyrics, beautiful melody, simple, yet full of interest and leaves you wanting more. It represents Paul, he is superbly talented and I am honoured to have met him so many times, spoken to him, been on two of his music videos and seen him in concert many times. I cannot get enough of him and play his music often in my small band. As I get older I discover more and more about this giant of a man's music. He is a genius, a living legend and a god of music. I am thankful I was alive at the same time he is and thankful that technology will mean generations to come will be able to enjoy his talents too.
Great to see Joe Walsh as part of the lineup. Who would’ve thought that he could’ve turned his life around so much for the better and ended up being a regular contributor to Paul McCartney‘s creative output?! Also, mad love goes out to Jazz legend Diana Krall who features on piano here
I thought you'd like to know that Joe Walsh is also a part of the Beatles family, since he's married to Barbara Bach's sister Marjorie, which makes Ringo his brother-in-law.
BoutYoungAnnaLee wrote this: "Who would’ve thought that he (Joe Walsh) could’ve turned his life around so much for the better and ended up being a regular contributor to Paul McCartney‘s creative output?!" I believe Joe Walsh has only been a part of two Paul McCartney recordings ("My Valentine" and "Get Yourself Another Fool") both recorded in 2012. So I don't know why you would consider Walsh to be "a regular contributor to Paul McCartney's creative output".
This is my favorite Valentine song. I put it here today for my eternal Valentine, by daughter. When she was born, I would sing , "My Girl" to her ... "I've got sunshine on a cloudy day". And so today, with her mind, I put these lyrics here for her and thank you, SIr Paul McCartney, for saying all that I could ever say in this magnificent song. What if it rained? We didn't care She said that someday soon The sun was gonna shine. And she was right, This love of mine, My Valentine As days and nights, Would pass me by I tell myself that i was waiting for a sign Then she appeared, A love so fine, My Valentine And i will love her for life And i will never let a day go by Without remembering the reasons why She makes me certain That i can fly And so i do, Without a care I know that someday soon the sun is gonna shine And she'll be there This love of mine My Valentine What if it rained? We didn't care. She said that someday soon The sun was gonna shine And she was right This love of mine, My Valentine
After millions of songs have been written it is almost impossible to write a mind-blowing melody! Paul has come close to this goal! the result is worthy of note.
Every year I listen to this song again on February 14th. It will never bore me. Sir Paul is a very great man! Thank you Paul for all your beautifully written music.
This song and the talent involved simply redefine the word awesome. There's really no way to describe the beauty of this song. it's like a farewell to the living,so sad, so heartwrenching, but I do hope Paul will live a long and healthy life. God bless Him.

Just awoke today to my alarm clock -- Siriusly Sinatra satellite radio -- playing my favorite, latter-day composition (words & music) by Paul McCartney - MY VALENTINE. Loved his including it several years ago on his album of standards, and 'should-have-been-standards' - obscure but wonderful songs his father loved, and sang to him when Paul was little. But I love this tender ballad even more today, knowing that only the “greatest composer of the latter half of the 20th century” is still capable of writing a song I believe Cole (True Love) Porter would have admired. Yes, the 'most beloved Beatle' of almost 50 years ago, still going strong -- delivering 40-song concerts with an energy of someone half his age. Thanks, Sirius for this wake-up call today. Siriusly Sinatra this morning played MY VALENTINE -- Paul McCartney's most recent great ballad, included on his album of standards (or should-have-been standards) -- songs his musical father enjoyed. I'd been racking my brains lately to think of a single RECENT ballad that other great songwriters of the 20th century would have appreciated: That list would include Billy Joel and James Taylor, both of whom declare Sir Paul to be the greatest song writer of the latter half of the 20th century. With this one, McCartney took his legacy into the 21st. Might as well enjoy the RUclips version with the most views (half a million). That's Joe Walsh playing lead-lines on nylon-string guitar, and John Pizzarelli providing rhythm on electric. Someone named Diana Krall is playing piano. Oh and that's the same mic Nat Cole used to record all his own hit songs. I think Nat would have loved this. Thanks Jersey Lou for including this one on your playlist this day. ruclips.net/video/6wxdtq1NpGI/видео.html p.s. Did you spot the third guitarist? Diana Krall brought him with her. Indeed My Valentine is one of the best songs of Sir Paul McCartney, probably influenced by Paul's Dad who played at home on the piano those oldies of the 30's- 40's. This song also reminds me of my Dad Moshe Amitai (Mietek Rechtman) who was a professionsl violonist and had a band in Warsaw and Krakov, Poland before WW II and then restarted his pop music career in night clubs and recording studios in Tel Aviv, Israel, in the late 40's through the 50's.
Paul McCartney is one of the most famous song writer - no question. He is my heart throb. Hopefully he might be happy and working as far as music is concerned. I cannot stop hearing this song. Ok. I have my faults. I was engaged with a student of the Folkwang Hochschule Essen, composition Jazz, and I gave up although a child, Lina, was at my side. Very bad from me. Lina copes well in life and Stefan, my fiancé holds on and allows me to send his daughter very heartful presents at Christmas time. I love her although I did not take any responsibility for her education.
Speaking from a guy's perspective, I can't help but think those of us who are less talented and far less eloquent would have loved to speak or sing those exact words to the special women who have graced our lives. And then to be able to match those words to such a captivating melody.....

Sir Paul McCartney sei sempre tanto bravo , la musica scorre come un fiume nelle tue mani
