Super job! I was wondering what you used for the eyes and what happened to the epoxied crack. I’m guessing it probably got carved or cut away. Great stick really impressive work!
Thank you, yes I think this one really turned out great. The eyes were wooden beads I had around the shop… and yes, the majority of the epoxy got cut away but a small portion can still be seen on the inside of the u-shaped bend. Thanks for watching
Turned out great! I really like the look of a highly finished head on a natural shank and vice versa. Were you worried at all about the grain at the top, just behind the heron's head?
Thank you! No, the grain was beautiful and very smooth. I sanded to 400 grit then polished with 0000 steel wool… it was glass smooth and very easy to paint over.
WOW Jason, you outdid yourself on this one. Is this for a client? If someone gives you any lip, hit them over the head with that ash stick. That will cue their clock. :) I am making my first thumb stick for a client who helped me.
@@russellyoung9520 that would be a challenge… I haven’t been able to find any twisted sticks near me however. I always have to carve my spirals… but I’ll keep looking
Spokojnego dnia.

Thank you Christina! I really liked the shape of the head, that curve looks very good as a walking stick. Happy you liked it!
Hi Jason, love watching uour videos,Heron's head looks brilliant,do you sell these? Roger.
Thank you so much! I sell them now and then, or make custom sticks… but it’s not my full time gig… not yet anyways!

Thank you , happy to hear that you liked it. No, this one is available... Didn't make it for anyone in particular, just made it to challenge myself.
@@JasonHedrich Do you want a challenge Jason. Find 2 sticks that are intertwined and make a cane out of them.
@@russellyoung9520 that would be a challenge… I haven’t been able to find any twisted sticks near me however. I always have to carve my spirals… but I’ll keep looking
congratulation for your art ;) how much does it cost this stick?
Thank you very much. Please write to me at jhedrich73@gmail.com for details

@@thomassmith8857 so it’s a carved stick but has come apart? Or are you looking for advice on how to attach a carving to the stick?
