The Gospel musician tag is what caught my interest in this particular Sleep Token reaction, then I heard the Southern accent and knew it was gonna be a genuine one (Bama boy over here, grew around Baptist and the likes) but I'm curious as to what you think about how complex the spiritual and hymnal feel a lot of their music has and your interpretation of it in itself. Been a fan since the beginning and watching the growth in their music is astounding . Definitely dive in.

This is a song of god, man, and the devil, all saying their piece. It changes line to line at times. As a gospel drummer, i pray you listen again and recognize the distinction. And then go back anf listen to EVERY SONG throigh the same lense.
I really think "The way that you were" could resonate with your musical background, but honestly anything of theirs is beautiful.

Album of the year, and its not even close.
There's quite a few tracks from Sleep Token you could say are very Gospel sounding, mainly their older stuff like "The Way That You Were" and "When The Bough Breaks". It's well worth an explore :)

I grew up in church and always loved GOOD quality praise and worship music. A lot of their songs reminded me of p&w music, especially Euclid

Euclid is a must, but you have to check out The Night Does Not Belong To God first. That was their first song on the first album and Euclid (last song on this album) wraps the trilogy up beautifully. It’ll make you appreciate Euclid even more.

To get the most from ST yo need to start at beginning with 1 ep and work through the discography to apriciate how emotional the final track of the album TMBTE Euclid is. It's a halleva ride. All killer no filla. Every track is 🔥

Isn't that crazy? I have favourite Bands that stick with for a very looong time now and it's a stony path for "new" stuff to get near the holy grail but Sleep Token (and foremost with this song) overtook them all in like a minute!?!?😳

Ascensionism is one of my favorite songs from them. yes they do have other amazing songs. but this song is lyrically beautiful. it paints such an amazing picture.

I had the same experience - I just had to know what all the music sounded like. Go into it with no expectations and just a love of music in general and there really isn't a Sleep Token song that doesn't hit. Absolute geniuses.

The whole Sleep Token concept reminds me of a story I read once of an extremely jealous and authrocious Bronze Age Canaanite war god. He was one of the 70 children of the upper god ‘ El ‘ or ‘ Al ‘ and he manoeuvred his ancient father an rivalling brothers and sisters to become the ruler of the universe. If I’m not mistaken, one of his brothers was called ‘ Baal Zebul ‘ but I don’t remember that furousious an psychopathic war god’s name anymore.
This band wasn’t what I expected at all however, after having them in my esrbuds at work on repeat for a few days it’s really starting to grow on me.

Do yourself a favour, go back to the EP’s and listen to them in order. Then move to Sundowning and do all three albums back to back in order. You will massively appreciate the experience of it. The albums form a trilogy and worth every second of your time.

@TrevReacts their whole concept is that the singer had an ancient deity appear in a dream who's name could only translate as Sleep and Vessel, the singer, is to make Sleep known. While songs are obviously about love and such, that's where the lore of the religious aspect come from

I love Sleep Token and this album was so good, but I got saved and God had to let me know that I can’t listen to them anymore because it’s opening realms , so I just wanted to let you know from one Christian to another, just be careful what you listen to, but this song and the Summoning is such an awesome song

I was wondering the same thing about what I'm listening to and also WHO I'm listening to. Sleep is the god that they worship, who apparently came to the lead singer in a dream, so now they worship that god. That's my grasp on it anyway. I'm cautious to give these guys the full go ahead to be a part of my playlist.
