I agree, getting accessible and affordable equipment for local ski hills is the way. I'm always surprised how many kids like to ski with me while I'm telemark skiing. Hard pack areas like Tremblant seems to be breeding a new gen of telemark riders

Love to hear that Tremblant is seeing some growth. QC seems to be one of those zones that has some good blood flow in it right now from our vantage point. Thx for sharing your thoughts Jacques.

I live out east in upstate NY, I'm traditionally a snowboarder with several years alpine skiing experience, and for the past several years I've wanted to get into telemark skiing. problem is, in reference to this podcast, I cannot find a physical place to get gear in order to start tele skiing and the tele community is more or less nonexistent at my home mountain. Money is an object so the first set i get needs to be something I can use and enjoy for at least a few seasons. what's the best way to figure out a proper telemark setup for myself and what gear I should start with? I realize this is a potentially loaded question with many variables but I need a place to start and any advice would be appreciated.

Hi! Love the question and glad you took a listen - thank you. Best place to start in my opinion, is with what you can afford. If you are going to put more money into one thing put it into the boots. Don't be afraid to go 75mm either as the cost these days will be much less and then you can still upgrade as you go. You can check out the Used Gear section of our shop www.freeheellife.com and give us a ring to walk you through some ideas.

Telemark is not as trendy as it was when we were wearing those cool Peruvian caps.

Tis true. Kinda like that era...should we bring the crunch back?
