Buying vs renting is like using your money when you can borrow someone elses at a good rate and leave yours earning. It's the smart thing to do. I live on a small acreage I started back in 1990 and I would like to add to your skid steer comment. If I had to do it all again I would have done it in this order. Buy the land. Buy a skid steer. Choose a building I think I need and then double the size and build that one. Finally, build the house. I learned that over 32 years...
Cool. Love all your videos. Never fail to learn something, and sometimes, as with this one, learn a lot. All the best to you and your family. Stay safe.
I use a John Deere 35 or 50 excavator at work and there is tons of people who call it cute to make fun of it only to ask if they can borrow it a minute later. Super useful machines. I'll also take a slower operator over a ramrod any day if I'm spotting for someone. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
Great job Paul. Looking forward to visiting you and your Dad again with my mill. Try to get your hands on some bigger logs like 28" to 36" Dia. They make beautiful table tops. I am sure there are local Amish in your area that have kilns to dry the slabs. Take care brother!
Awesome video! But did you consider getting a mulcher attachment for a hi flow skid steer? Those things are amazing for clearing like you're doing for up to 8-12inch trees, and they can grind the stumps.
Do you have an opinion on smaller compact tractors with a loader vs skid steer for this kind of homeowner work? Way less capacity. But then way easier on the wallet for both machine and implements.
Why do you think you have to comment on everything every second of the video? That's really annoying! You can see what you're doing there. Your talk is no substitute for the visually impaired! YOU TALK MUCH TOO MUCH!

Instead of burning the brush have you thought about renting or buying a wood chipper? This way you can used it around the house and in the garden.

I guess it's to never stop growing!
Did I miss the part where you give costs to rent vs buy? Or at minimum how much to rent the 85 you rented?

You have well done what I plan to do.

Do they rent you an excavator when you have never operated one?
For clearing about .5 acres, how long would that take?
First!?
Edit: btw, congratulations on the 100k subscribers mark!

Thanks! Will do!
Are you ruining the grass that you just planted last year?
No, this is in a different part of the property.
😊💪💪💪
I'm a landscape architect in Indiana so if you need any advice on tree types to plant, let me know!
Awesome, thanks!
