    Hi Abbe!
    Thank you for this video!
Why does Elvis say in his song : The girl of my best friend?

      Hi Nino,
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment! My best guess is that he just wanted to write lyrics that rhymed with "friend" instead of "girl." You may have noticed that singers and songwriters take a lot of "artistic liberties" with grammar (and sometimes even pronunciation) - keep that in mind if songs are among your main learning tools. In this case, since we are talking about a relationship, a possessive with 's would sound more natural to a native speaker, but what Elvis says is not wrong. I hope that helps! Enjoy!

Very logical. Where it gets tricky is when you write it. There's "the book's price" versus "the books' price". And I CRINGE when I see *"the boss' wife".* How do you even pronounce that?? I always say it should be "the boss's wife". It doesn't matter that it ends in S, when it's not a plural.

Agreed, Steve! Sometimes it's best to just say "the price of the book(s)" to make yourself clear. 🤷‍♀
      Thanks for reading 🙂
