“of the century” might be too exaggerated but definitely one of the best of the decade, considering that there are definitely much better art pop albums out there.
IKR okay ill cone clean at first It was effy im not connecting with it but after I gave it another try or 2 something clicked and all of the tracks are my favorites no skips
@@hanikanso9656 NFR and Ultraviolence are definitely not as good to me. But, music is subjective...No need to compare when multiple masterpieces can coexist!
this album is like the perfect representation of our generation. its boundary pushing while still feeling nostalgic. it has aged like fine wine and it makes me wanna get in my car and just drive LMAO
The way you break the lyrics down gives such a great element for the reviews you're doing specially for people who haven't really realized the meaning of each songs and how the album was made. The Bascome Twins is such an underrated RUclips channel 😭
Ella said once that she wrote Liability right after her break up, when she moved to NY away from her home and she wasn't used to sleeping alone at night.
Ive come to that same conclusion. Theres no need to try and top it. This is perfect and she can literally just do whatever tf she wants with her future projects cause SHE DID THIS
Yep that's what I thought too, best she can do is to make an album thats different from melodrama so it won't get compared as much. That's why I'm glad she went for solar power since its a has whole different mood and vibe
The metacritic of Melodrama is 91! And its in the list of the best album of all the time… Such a Timeless album And album of the freaking century! 💙💙💙 Its like the perfect marriage of Lyricism and production.

When you related "go back and tell it" from Hard Feelings to "i whisper things, the city sings them back to you" from Green Light, MY HAIR STOOD UP! I HAVE NEVER REALIZED THAT!! Holy shit im so glad i watched this. GREAT deconstruction of this incredible album 🙏
Supercut is My favorite song. Is an experience, The production is gorgeous, When i listened to it with headphones i cried for real, just because The production and how is building is so precious
4:26 Jordan vibing with the horns in Sober? I feel seen jajajajaja Melodrama is one my fav albums EVER. Thanks for doing this… love how you analyze the songs!
One of the things I love most about sober II is how in the lyrics she keeps bringing up these juxtaposing themes like "glamour and trauma" "kiss and kill" or "gunfights and limelights" and the production matches that by using instruments like violins and piano over a trap beat. Things that most would agree juxtapose one another. it's GENIUS
To me the story of the album goes like this: In Green Light, she's just had her breakup and she's singing from the car ride home. Think of it like a trailer. Then from Sober onwards, she starts recounting her relationship- how it was like all partying, drinking their feelings away- but once the high wore off, things got messy. Towards the end of the album, she acknowledges that the relationship was not worth it and she was chasing something that never existed.
I think the fade out in supercut kinda sounded like blurred thoughts, which could mean the negative thoughts experienced throughout the album and the 'leave' in liability reprise is referring to that. But I love this review of the album!
23:56 now that you talk about the city telling her it was melodrama, it makes me think about hard feelings when she said "when you've outgrown a lover, the whole world knows but you", so maybe she was saying "we told you this was melodrama" as maybe the people in her life telling her that the situation she was in was melodrama and that she should have left. almost like an "I told you so".
Yeah but Deja Vu feels so ambigous compared to Green Light, like it's kinda monotone in emotions while GL feels epic and cathartic, idk if that's just me. The "motorcycle" synth is pretty similar tho.
@@pyreworks5210 At first i thought you were saying GL was monotone, i guess i read wrong but i was shook, i was about to go off lol. I respect olivia and her music shes good there’s no doubt about that but i will forever stan Lordes artistry in music making. i literally feel i am watching a movie while listening to her albums. of course GL has more depth and you were right on describing it as epic and cathartic. melodrama is def album of the year
Once you delve into the melodrama world, you can't get out. Every time I listen to it (like everyday) I discover something new about the songs. It's insane how Lorde crafted this album and how insane the storytelling
I absolutely ADORE the insightful commentary you always give, trying to really understand what the artist is saying. It makes your reactions so compelling to watch!
Have you guys heard of Vella? She had a cover last year that went viral(i see red) Her voice is amazing!! Anyway she just put out her third original single and its FIRE. Seriously. You two are geniuses and have such an ear for music, i just know youll appreciate her vocals. Btw shes 17!!! Vella-Pull the trigger. Just check it out:)

True. This album helps me for so many reasons 💙
this album deserves to be hang in the Louvre, not in the back tho.
@@yafriendceko the cover artwork should’ve hang side by side if not replaced monalisa

One of my all time favorite albums. Masterpiece.
Lorde was really ahead of the game with how good this album was sonically and lyrically produced. A body of work 💙
"That horn is something special"
Big facts.
yall made points about the writing that I never would have caught..... she truly is a genius
after listening to melodrama for 4 years, I can honestly say that I'm content if she doesn't make an album as good as this one. it's so hard to top.
