Actually, the British have always pronounced it jag-you-ar, not jag-warr. Since it's a British brand, maybe we should go with how the British pronounce it.
You know that there are also some brands that have local pronounced to? If you hear someone pronounce a company differently and the person is from a another country it’s may still be correct because the same company may have chosen to pronounce it differently in that nation because it was it was easier for people in that country, I am from Sweden and I heard many English speakers pronounce IKEA as I-KEA but It should be pronounced IK-EA but I don’t go around and tell people from other nations that they pronounce it wrong because I know different nations have their different way of saying words because it easier to have it so

Jaguar were making a commercial for an audience that they imagine exists - time will tell whether that audience is real. I suspect it's going to remain imaginary BUT - the agency did succeed in making a big splash. Just watch - that rubbish will win SO many advertising awards.
I remember in an episode of "Duck Tales" when Scruge Mcducks nephews asked why he wanted something that was so ugly, he said something along the lines of "when you have so much money that you could buy anything you want, paying exorbitant ammounts of money for something nobody would want makes it a status symbol"
I work in marketing, i understand the need for a rebrand of Jaguar, TopGear washed the floor with their name time after time, which sucks, but if that was the big rebranding the marketing company/director is a complete incompetent, i would rather keep the same original brand and focus more on the vehicles and we would go from there to what this new product offers, the problem is this new vehicle does not offer nothing to the Jaguar clients, they are trying to fish in a pond that is not theirs and is known for not having fish, is a dangerous strategy to do this, but in the end of the day if they really want to do launch this car they still could have made a different brand as a secundary division, kinda how Toyota made Lexus to accomodate their need for a Luxury vehicle, however, the branding would still need lots of work, cause this ain't it chief.
@@caiolucena6397 that's actually a good idea you have there, opening another sub-brand or division. Because then that can pass or fail without causing damage to the original brand.
@@SongEternal Creating a sub-brand can work if a large organisation wants to target a smaller market. Jaguar already has a small part of the car market and is part of a larger group (JLR or Jaguar Land Rover). I don’t think sub-brands can work in a smaller market segment. That Volvo ad sold me their car, that Jaguar ad didnt. The reason is that people are influenced by human emotion and connection with products. It’s about how they help our lives, the Volvo in the ad saved the pregnant woman’s life and as a parent that sold me.
Early in the 2010s, Volvo had an ad campaign that used the concept of "Made Of." They recognized all the countries that contributed with their cars, all the people who work there (from the line workers to designers), and the users (families, people who love to explore). Additionally, they showed the Swedish part by having a couple of ads with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and did a great music video with all of this, with Vintersaga. It was spectacular. To me, this campaign was very moving and felt real. Since then, I've been in love with Volvo.
I am a BMW guy, we never had commercials of BMW on the TV in my country. We recently did, and it was a great commercial. A lot of other car commercials highlight self importance and self preservation over everything. There was a very good video by a German communications professor about the jaguar ad. He made some really good points. One of his theories was that the ad was done on purpose to ruin the brand for good. Apparently jaguar was struggling for years, because even though they are high price vehicles, they lack the quality of their competitors. The company was bought up by an Indian car company who now ruin the brand to improve their own sales.
It's the Tata Group that owns Jaguar. The Chairman the late Ratan Tata purchased Jaguar from Ford as an F**k You to Ford. You see, Tata Motors was going to be sold to Ford in 1999, but the deal fell through after a humiliating meeting in Detroit. Ratan Tata and his team traveled to Detroit to meet with Ford chairman Bill Ford to discuss the sale of Tata Motors' passenger car division. During the meeting, Ford executives reportedly humiliated Tata by saying he should have never started Tata Motors, said that Tata Motors should not have started the passenger car division and said that they would do Tata Motors a favor by buying out the business. Tata and his team were deeply hurt by the meeting and returned to India without pursuing the deal further. Tata instead focused on improving the sales of the Indica and streamlining operations at Tata Motors. Nine years later, in 2008, Tata Motors acquired Jaguar Land Rover from Ford for $2.3 billion. This acquisition is considered one of the best failure-turned-success moments in the business world. Tata Motors also acquired Ford India's Sanand plant in 2023. Felt like they were advertising the culture more than they were advertising the product. Which is a problem when your product needs to appeal to as many people as possible. You are 100 percent correct. I bought a Saturn based on their ads showing the doors without the panels showing the reinforced crossed bars across. For the record, I'm a big supporter of Pride as a straight guy but the biggest issue is that companies do more Telling everyone about how inclusive they are, rather than actually being inclusive and selling their products.
If that commercial had all of those oddly dressed people each driving a custom Jaguar that fit their unique style, I could see that working.
But again it's another company more telling people about how inclusive they are over actually being inclusive most likely
They just want to inclusivity points over selling a product tbh

@@carlstanford7607 ty! The Modern Audience has claimed another brand!
Harley Davidson owners rejected the Livewire electric bike. The Harley brand suffered damage in the eyes of its existing customer base. The livewire got spun off into a sub brand as a consequence
Neither Jaguar or Harley are attracting young customers. I suspect both brands will continue to struggle.
Is it even Jaguar's aim to attract customers?
Consider that the brand is the pride of the British and is currently in the hands of an Indian company, which may be able to improve its (Tata's) image in India if it does a bit of vandalism to its old colonial masters.

Early in the 2010s, Volvo had an ad campaign that used the concept of "Made Of."
