Thanks for the video! I had the same problem. I was able to actually take apart the small switch, bend the contacts, reassemble the switch, and then put everything back together and it worked!

I picked up a Miele S2120 on the side of the road, took it home, cleaned it out, but I couldn't figure out how to turn it on. I heard from another video to "step on it" but where, -- didn't want to break it. Finally I figured out to step on the "divided circle" and my "new" Miele vacuum turned on - a light step will do it. Works great for cleaning the car - I am retired and have two granddaughters and you know how that goes. Thanks for posting.
Ty for your help. I was able to 'fix' my beloved Miele whose lid was popping up all the time. Never ever saw that filter until you showed me it. Works like new again. TY.
Great video, solved my issue and saved me a couple hundred. BTW, the way you remove the ring without causing cosmetic damage, you should simply just twist and pull ring after removing the screw. it twists and locks into place. thanks again.
Thank you! I was able to get a new switch for $15 and fix it myself and save my Miele Aerial. The only thing I would say that I didn’t hear is that my vacuum used a hex screw driver in a size 20. Not sure if that’s a standard size… Thank you again!
Great video thanks. I have this problem with my S6330. Maybe Miele had a batch of faulty switches, especially as you say you haven’t seen problem before.
I think the real problem is the return spring (seems to be a fault on most vacuums) over time they relax and don't return the power switch pedal fully. The switches, being push-to-make need to spring out fully to make contact - Glenn's comment here of bending of contacts is a work around, as is putting in a new switch (assuming it's internal spring is strong enough), but the real fix is to replace the pedal return spring!
Hello - great video! - my miele cat and dog tt hoover has just started to power surge - up & down in strength every few seconds - please could you advise what I need to change to get it back up and running?, it's about 15 years old! - maybe I need to buy a new one? - any advise would be greatly received - best regards, Lois
Excuse me I see the unit stay on after you repair juste the top lift button but I don't understand why you have to replace the switch the unit stay on so the problem are fix no so I really don't understand why is not okay and repair

I have the same problem on my Miele S8310 I shorted out the switch and it had the same problem would I still need a new switch?
