hi Katherine i wanted to tell you that i have 10 musical piano books and taught myself how to play don't feed the plants from little shop of horrors and have been in to musicals for about two years now. i have seen 66 musicals i really love watching you, you make my day because no one in my school really knows what musicals are

Same! I started shifting (slowly) to digital formats and that has really helped me stay organized these days.

I lost most of my sheet music collection on my local theatre after a piano recital. They were the pieces I played the most, and my favourite ones. I still haven't been able to find all those arrangements.

I need to declutter distractions from my goals...and it's working SUPER well. So 2021 was rougher for me than 2020, which is why I must say that decluttering of anything in my life right now is happening and is happening hard. I feel hopeful rather than happy. I hope you can relate to this Kat. PS - your content is delightfully humorous. I love it.
I can completely relate to you here. Decluttering and removing distractions so that I can get closer to my goals both personal and professional has been a focus for me recently. Take it one step at a time and think on a micro level with small wins over big ones. Best wishes on nailing those goals this year!
Fun watching you do this:) But since I am much older than you, I have many more years’ worth of collecting. And I now not only also perform, but also teach voice…so I (need?) keep everything!!! Don’t even try to get rid of them.

Hi Kat! I have been watching you for years now and I never get tired of your videos. I am a teenager who loves musical theatre and goes to a fine arts school. Your channel has helped me so much in navigating and learning about theatre. I’m a little bummed because I auditioned for our school musical (Fame) and didn’t get a role (I auditioned for Serena and made it to the final callbacks). Even though that sucked watching your videos always reignites my love of this art and you are a big reason why I have been exposed to some of the best music and performances of my life. I love you and hope you have a blessed day!!
Literally just went through this process myself and you reminded me how happy I am that everything is moving to digital these days! Shifting to using my iPad for a ton of my music and callback sides has been a game changer especially because printing anything in NYC is a pain.

Yep same. It really also gave me space to re-think what type of songs I wanted to have in my book that showcases the stories I want to tell moving forward after 2020.

I just need to clean my room. It's been a nightmare for MONTHS.
My clothing situation is slowly encroaching everywhere. But in all honesty I need my own place of living because I planned my stuff to go into a place for me. But oh well, I should clean my sheet music too cuz I have two bins and a box from college. And I want space for a piano and drum kit in the future so I can go back to what made me happy.

Ok, off topic, but I have my first in person musical audition In over two years and I am terrified. Does anyone have any tips to calm my nerves down? The entire choir department, which I am not in, is auditioning and I’m feeling fairly intimidated singing wise
You are not alone in jumping back into in person auditions and feeling those nerves bubble up. What helps me is shifting my mindset for the goal and purpose of the audition being to actually get cast to...performing to the best of my ability at the moment. There are no results or outcomes other than living in the moment and enjoying performing for the people in the room. It's like a free class! Hope that helps a little and best wishes to you1

Not me with my middle school flute sheet music still in the closet of my childhood room 💀
I had one of those “Musical Theatre Songs for Teens” books when I started taking voice lessons at around 15, 16. It had “Many Moons Ago” from Once Upon a Mattress, Kansas City from Oklahoma and 2 songs that, no offense, probably shouldn’t be done by anyone in high school: “Bring Him Home” from Les Mis (unless you’re doing the student production because then I guess everyone in the cast is young) and “Being Alive” from Company. In addition to not being really age relative, they’re overdone. Chances are, if you can find it in a compilation book like that, it’s overdone. That’s not to say you shouldn’t work on it (they are classics for a reason) but leave it out of the audition room.
