@intelectualaffluence - no, but pithy and inaccurate comments like yours about the residents of this country do get my goat. Just be positive without needing to initially make negative point, I am sure you could if you really tried hard!

@@neilboulton9813 my comment was/is rhetorical and therefore not meant to be taken literally, as far as I can see the only 1 being negative is you , I suggest you try practicing more conscious self awareness around your GOAT ! You may find that you are less likely to be triggered emotionally, I’m sure if you really try this would be possible , ps you cannot answer that you are not upset and then go on to say something really gets your goat !, it’s ambiguous and makes you seem irrational

Just a heads-up if coming to Birmingham again by car; the city's 'Clean Air Zone' is now operating 24/7, covering all roads within the A4540 (Middle Ring Road). If your car's engine emissions are less than Euro 6 spec for diesel or Euro 4 for petrol you will be charged £8 to enter the city centre. You may want to consider parking outside the zone and walking, or taking a train, bus or tram from the suburbs instead. Birmingham is becoming increasingly anti-car and I'd hate for you to be caught out.

Lots of UK city centres were bombed to smithereens during WW2 and are now very modern. Coventry was a medieval city before flattened in 1940. It’s nice to sit by the canals in Birmingham, have a drink in a water side pub and watch a few boats go by in the Summer. In hot weather, non-covid, pubs and restaurants are packed out in Birmingham. Birmingham museum and art gallery currently holds the Staffordshire Hoard, a huge collection of Anglo-Saxon (6th and 7th century) gold, silver and jewellery dug up in a field near Lichfield. Only problem is access as the museum is not in the very centre of Birmingham. Birmingham has an annual German Christmas market, if you like that kind of thing - beer drinking, sausage, veggie food stalls, jewellery, wooden ornaments.

Plus Dad would take us to get prawns ect from the sea food shop you showed. I love where I come from and I feel less and less people use the market over the supermarket. Look at it guys it's fresh. Although I can’t guarantee they would have been open during the Covid lockdowns.

Don't know if it's true of all shark species but while still in the womb the firstborn will as soon as possible cannibalise it's siblings, so by the time comes for them to be born there maybe only one or two left alive. There are videos here on RUclips that show this happening.

West Ham thr Ham is pronounced, probably unless you are from West Ham th e H will be dropped and will be AM. Some dialects virtually never prounounce the H almost ever.

You need to change your pronunciation of filet to the U.K. way. “ Fillay” means nothing here!

What is the British way to say filet?

Birmingham - the national joke. You have to be really careful about where that meat comes from and how it's been slaughtered. Birmingham is actually a CSA of 5 million people and is the third largest CSA in the UK.

I’m in Northampton, so fairly local to you. If you like food (particularly cakes and cheeses), check out Beckworth Emporium, if you haven’t already. The cakes are made freshly on the premises and you can either eat in or buy cakes to take away. It also has a food hall, where the cheese counter is brilliant AND is combined with a garden centre. So you can experience the British obsessions with afternoon tea and gardening at the same location. 🙂 It’s near Sywell, so is very close to Kettering.
