You guys are awesome !! Love your Grandmother !!! And I understand everything you're saying !!
I speak mandarin and I can understand a lot of what you say with the subtitles helping.
Something about overseas Chinese talking about HK trips which are so nostalgic. Glad they went on business class- it’s such a long flight! ❤

@@KirstyLo I enjoyed it so much! I have been following your Hakka videos, not the pretty pretty stuff 😆, for at least a year.
👍 Hakka nyin...keep going 🙏😀
Thank you!😃❤️
Hakka is a declining dialect .. we must keep it alive .. thanks for the contents
HAPPY FAMILY/////
My favourite dim sum dish is Har Gow prawn dumplings. My favourite Chinese restaurant is Oriental delight in Bournemouth Dorset UK who serves authentic Asian cuisine. I love watching your videos. I am a Hakka British Chinese lady living in the South West of England.
I would love to meet Kirsty Lo in person because I have no Chinese friends. All my friends are from other nationalities.
Ooh love prawn dumplings!😋 Thank you for watching, glad you enjoy my Hakka videos! It’s always great to connect with Hakka people ❤️
I’m also hakka from East Malaysia. I really enjoy your hakka videos and fun fact we have the same surnames but it spells different😁.
Thank youuu for watching! So cool, we’re chi ga yin! I have cousins with the surname Law too 😃✨
Wow. I can understand 1/4 of hawks even though I've never learned hakka. Sounds like its vietnamese with lots of cantonese vocabulary.
I really enjoy the grandma collab videos! Jook por por shin tea ken hong ❤️ Also is your gong gong doing well?
Thank youuu! Glad you’re enjoying the Hakka videos 😊 My gung gung is living in care home now but he’s doing well ❤️
Glad he’s doing great and hope they are taking care of him well over there 🫶🏻 His features in the Chinese Hakka videos were comforting as I miss my gong gong x
another lovely hakka video of your lovely hakkafamily )🥰 I wonder, do you ever get 'praise' you got together with another hakka? Cos my hubby is also hakka and whenever I get back to my family back in china and or malaysia they say 'waah ngie he lai woen tau hakka lau' hahaha (btw i was thaught women [ka laukung] and men [ tsie lau pho] maybe different hakka tribe)
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video 🥰 Good question.. I’ve never really had praise about it, I think people are pretty shocked I got with a Hakka man 😆 But my family do love the fact my husband is Hakka and he can speak it too. Funny thing is my por por and gung gung actually knew my husbands parents back in the day, such a small (Hakka) world!
@@KirstyLo haha so funny to hear! Cos over here in the netherlands the same. Everybody knows everybody, seeing chinese community is not that big. The hakka community within that is even smaller! Cant take a sneeze without everyone knowing 😁
Omg tell me about it! The Hakka community is so small that everyone knows everyone’s business 🤭😆
@@KirstyLo I know right?!! Well seeing you have your socials, people generally speaking know what you are up to anyway hehe plenty of fodder for the usual gossips. I always see you only gossip about others if they are interesting enough 🙂 Cheers, keep up the great work
Ivy lounge opposite China Court is nice
Not been to that one yet! I’ll have to check it out next!🙌🏼
I can understand 80% hakka😂😂😂
Didn't know ,Birmingham have chinatown, and Haka population
Tq for sharing. I am a Malaysian Hakka, from KL. Your parents and grandma look so healthy. Grandma is very articulate. I understand her Hakka better than yours, because hers is much purer whereas yours seem to have an accent. Your grandma is so cute. 🌹
hi there Chrissie, my mothers side also hails from Malyasia, so hello! I can't help to react to your comment as to Kirsty's accent. If she was born in the UK wouldn't it be logical for her to have a slight accent? Saying her por por's hakka is much purer seems a bit harsh isn't it? I myself just got back from KL few weeks ago. Although my hakka accent is also slightly with Dutch undertone I myself am fluent in it, just as Kirsty is in my humble opinion. my family just praised the fact 'we' (hakka living in western countries) still can speak it at all. So cheers to us all who keep the hakka spirit alive 😍
@@misslee7331 hi MissLee. Welcome back to KL. Hope you had a good visit. No, I am not being harsh, just honest. Hey, that's what Hakka women are famous for. 😂. I know what I am talking about, being a 'banana' myself, 100% English educated, speaking very little Hakka. I lived in Melbourne for some time. My Hakka only improved when I was working in Hong Kong where I had to learn Cantonese, which is quite similar to Hakka. It is just not her accent. It's her pronunciation of certain words, which differ from her grandma. Anyway, I mean no malice; just a straight talking Hakka 'moi'. ❤️
@chrissieng8146 Thank you for your comment Hakka mui Chrissie! Hakka language has various dialects spoken by Hakka communities in different regions, with differences in pronunciation and accents, therefore you may think my Hakka pronunciation differs from your Hakka that you know of.
However, we can say the same about your Hakka, you might have an Aussie accent as you’re from Melbourne or even a Cantonese accent, since you only ‘improved’ your Hakka from working in Hong Kong, your Hakka pronunciations may be different to mine. For example, an American speaking English might sound different to an Australian speaking English, due to the different accents and pronunciations, but it’s still the same English language.
Either way, whether someone is conversational or fluent in Hakka, we should embrace and understand that the Hakka language is culturally diverse with various dialects spoken by Hakka communities across different regions and countries, so pronunciations can differ from your spoken Hakka and likewise 😃
HOW MUCH WAS THE BILL?

I called my grandma as A Pho. As this young lady call her grandma as Pho Pho. Is It the same?
Yes same thing
Hakka this is my late great Prime minister of Singapore… the greatest man on earth.
Hi
Hiiii Alex!👋🏼
I made it
Just about Hakka jai 😃
I don’t know why most of the articles I’ve read say Hakka is closer to Mandarin than Cantonese. I don’t speak Hakka (although my paternal grandmother is Hakka) but my mother tongue is Cantonese & I can totally follow along with your English subtitles. But clearly Hakka is a Chinese language rooted in the south & the closest to Cantonese (compared to Teochew or Hokkien or the Wu languages like Shanghainese - which are all totally unintelligible unless you’ve learned it or have lived in those areas & absorbed it via osmosis).
I also find it different from the HakKa that we speak in Mauritius but ur popo speaks very similar to us though😊
