    Those single supports are my best friend. I’ve been using those for nearly fifty years! They are mostly to hold up stems with flowers so they don’t flop over. Not a tomato stake cages are best for that. I also like the gridded circle to put over things like peonies when young so the grow though them as they grow you can put up and this keeps plants together 👍😎

      You have solved the mystery Cathy! Thank you for adding to my cage/stake knowledge 🥰

    Lovely! And thanks for taking us shopping with you. So fun!
    My rain lilies have thicker and slightly floppy leaves. They look like a clump of gigantic mondo grass until we get rain, then they have fantastic pink blossoms, like magic. Zephyranthes for sure, but may not be a Florida native. They have lived and spread with no care for almost 20 years.

      Thank you! ☺️ sounds like you have the non-native type. I think there is only native one is white. Sounds so pretty!

    Hello Girl !!! The storm took out my zen backyard here in North Port. Slowly pulling debris from neighbors roofs out of my yard. Florida Strong 💪🏻. Time to rethink the whole backyard...🤔🧐

      Definitely Florida Strong! Neighbor’s roof! Yikes! I hope you get that out of your garden so that you can start planning your next chapter of zen in the garden

    Just a suggestion 😁. Donate the pots to your local community garden next time😁

  • @joansmith3492
    @joansmith3492 Год назад +1

    Can I make a suggestion for your lovely garden? I think river rock rings around some of your front border plants would accentuate them and give your garden a structural element that looks intentional and would not be permanent. I think 8 to 10 - 2 foot diameter rings with ~4 inch light colored river rocks would "elevate" the visual appeal of your garden while it is growing in. Then when it has grown in you could move them to the front of the border to edge the street or a pathway or something. I hope you don't mind the suggestion. Your garden really is lovely as it is.

    • @WildFloridian
      @WildFloridian  Год назад +1

      Suggestions are always welcome when they are meant with kindness and care 🥰 I completely agree that some hard scape would elevate it. I’m going to take your suggestion and have a good think about it! Thank you Joan 😄

    Jacqueline, you’ve got to check out Sweet Bay Nursery in Parrish. I was tipped off by an employee at another local nursery when I asked about several native plants. It was a 45min drive for me but so worth it. If you go, make a video, I’d love to hear you geek out lol. Thanks for your videos, your garden is an inspiration for me.

    • @WildFloridian

      Oh wow! That is a huge recommendation! I used to work near there but it was hard for me to get to. But now that I have some bandwidth, I will definitely check them out. I've always heard great things. I have a native project for the new year... maybe I'll head south to Sweet Bay! Thanks Julia 🥰

    I staked 2 hibiscus that my fence fell on. They’ve got new leaves so hopeful. The okra was completely stripped of leaves too but all new leaves now.

    Hmmm. Out of desperation I tied my Roselle up after the hurricane like an obsessive compulsive protective mother spider. Watching this has shamed me into unwrapping it and restaking it with something more tasteful.

    Fun to watch you shop for new plants. Unfortunately, most of our garden centers are low on plants and/or only selling soil and garden tools down here in Englewood area. Many got pretty wiped out in the hurricane. Looking forward to a refresh myself.

      Overall very happy with the plant. It’s pretty and pollinators are definitely fans of the flowers. The smell isn’t strong unless you are close and have a bunch. Overall I like it. I’ve only had it for a couple months… so I don’t have a strong take beyond these points.
