What a great and helpful plant site. Jim answered all my question about 3 new shrubs - Lemon Lime Nandina and Blush Pink and Soft Touch Holly. Love his understandable way of presenting a plant.
GREAT video. What an easy, low-maintenance, hardy little guy this plant is. I just bought a round one, about 30cm in height, to replace my approx. 50cm mature buxus that was decimated by the ghastly box caterpillar before I even knew what was happening. I am hoping to see it grow to about 50-60cm in the next few years, and have high hopes for its survival on my balcony because it is so tolerant. I'll give it a little acid fertiliser every spring. Thank you for this fantastic video.
we had 4 soft touch hollies planted two years ago and some are showing dead branches so we assume they did not break uo the root bound system in the pots when they were planted. what can we do to help the plants? we live in North Texas where the summers can be brutal.
Thanks so much for your video. It was very informative and music to my ears. I have been slowly pulling out my old shrubbery and replacing it with low maintenance shrubs as we are getting older and lawn maintenance is getting much more difficult. I want this holly to be my main shrubbery. I was hoping to use a purple colored plant as the 2nd or middle row of my shrubs. I was hoping you could recommend a plant that would look good and not overgrow the holly. I was also thinking of using Lilyturf 'super blue' for the front row/edging. Thanks in advance for any advice or information you can provide. THANK YOU!!!!!
Have 4 planted 11 years ago...beautiful until now...1 has abot 30% brown leaves but branches don't feel brittle...should I just leave it or replace it?
How invasive are the roots? I want to plant a line of them along my front foundation, but only have about three feet of space between foundation and sidewalk. I am going to get into trouble with the roots invading the brick foundation? Thanks in advance!
Help!! I'm in zone 9B just outside of Houston. I have lost over 200 boxwoods to boxwood blight. Totally replaced all bushes and even the soil but it's still a problem over the last 3 years with replacement of 5 - 8 every week then 5-8 next week. I'm ready to rip them all out. Would the dwarf yaupon holly be best or the soft touch holly? Goal is to have a tightly clipped 1' - 2' tall hedge to replace all of the boxwoods that make up the hedge in front of a 3' dwarf burford holly hedge. 6" asian jasmine in front for "tiered" formal beds. I really enjoy your very informative videos. Thanks!
Very helpful! I planted soft touch Hollie’s and I think apricot branches dying off are because of the roots not being broken up enough. Should I pull out the hollie and re plant it? It’s been there about a year? Also how do I shape them to have a full hedge look instead of the round ball look?
I’m looking for a low maintenance low growing evergreen shrub. Looking at dwarf yapon holly or soft touch. Your thoughts? One better than the other? I live in Baton Rouge, LA. Thank you! I love you videos. Very helpful.
Just planted a row of a soft hollies a week ago. A couple of them are turning brown and look like they are frying? 😳 I just saw th I should not be watering these a little every evening, per your video. Could that be the reason for the two that are turning brown?
Last fall I had 5 Soft Touch holly planted in front of my house. 4 of them are doing just fine. But one seems to have died. The branches are brittle and the leaves have gone pale and dry. I want to replace it, but I'm concerned about the location. These shrubs get filtered sunlight in the morning (house faces east and sun has to be pretty high in the sky to be over the treetops across the street) and shade in the afternoon. The one that died is on the far end of a gentle downslope and I wonder if it perhaps got too wet from water going downhill.
Great video!! I am interested in a low border of boxwoods to create a low, formal edge around my front flowers beds. What would you recommend? Boxwood or the soft touch Holly? What kind of boxwood? Needs to be evergreen stay about 1-2 ft trimmed and trimmed in a low formal continuous edge border
Great Video-Just want to know how much I can cut back my Soft Touch? Ours have grown so much and need to be shortened both width and height. Do you have a video on this? Can I cut the Soft Touch in November? I live in zone 7. Thank you for any assistance.

This guy does the deep dive. Very well done sir.

I put about 5-6 these along a narrow strip of land along a walkway. I love these, so cute and they look great all year long.
Your videos have been very helpful to me as a new beginner gardener...I just got 2 of those for my front lawn...
Thanks for another professional informative video.

Thank you 🙏🏼 just bought one today and you have all my questions
Please recommend a variety of evergreen shrubs and flowering shrubs to use behind these wonderful plants with low foundation planting.

Can these soft touch hollies be planted in pots?

Can you put weed sheeting down around the Holly bushes?
That was awesome... very thorough and informative!

Would these look good in front yard side walk entry pathway? Or is a boxwood better?

Our new home has these and I've noticed they are getting small holes in the leaves of a few of them. What is causing it and how do I stop/fix it?
i just got some and i love them

Do you prefer boxwood or this soft touch holly?

Can you use this as tea also? Or only the Schilling Dwarf Yaupon Holly can be used as tea?
Thank you; great video!
I have a Soft touch holly. What holly do I need to cross pollinate it with? I enjoyed your you tube presentation. It was very informative.

Could not find pine bark soil conditioner .. only top soil conditioner at Home Depot . Is that ok instead?
Steve delgado hard to find it at big box stores because they are usually pretty bad. Go to a landscape supply or garden center
Thankyou
Where can I buy seed or plant of it?
I just got some from Lowe's
Wow!!!!!
How tall do they get
Probably 4 feet, but easy to keep under 3'
Soft Touch Holly; Will this be okay in Zone 5???
No, I think you have to use Boxwood for a similar look in zone 5
i just got some and i love them
