Dude , most underrated podcast. Thank you for all you do. I’m out of training this week. I did something to my lower back and have to take it easy. Your videos are helping the recovery thank you!

Agree but not on variations. Barbell overhead press, there’s a huge technical aspect to this lift, shoulders for through a big range of motion and there’s stability requirements from head to toe when done correctly. Pullups, yeah u agree, not with approach tho, I believe in sets and reps of what you can do with good form and focusing on weekly volume for them. And I believe strict pendlay rows to be great for horizontal pulling.

Great discussion! I'm 40+ and just recently start out at BJJ. I never did any resistance training until my late 30's but quite like the kettlebells now, I can do the bottom up press on 15kg, but my next kettlebell is 32kg and im unsure if i could do a progression onto it with the palm press because I struggle with strict pressing that weight, any ideas on progressions or should I just focus on my weaker areas (flexibility!)? I also try and do 4x4 on the pullups 5 times a week, I just recently progressed from chinups but my dead hang doesn't seem to be improving, should I just keep focusing on volume there? ( I've never even tried toes to bar so will look into that)

Pressing as an exercise for grappling (or fighting) is a time tested thing :) historicalfencer.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/image1.jpg
