Thanks Nate, went to my first bluegrass jam. I play some bass but had no clue what I was getting into. Loved the experience so looking forward to watching your videos and applying them to the next jam. 3 weeks to level up!
Great to hear it, and happy to be of assistance!!
Nate, I've been playing bluegrass bass for about 2 years. I'm a former brass player/music education major. I've gotten good enough to handle some good bluegrass jam sessions. But I always have to resort back to the single note grip (the claw as you call it) due to left hand fatigue. So hard to press down the strings enough for clean sounds, especially with fast tempos. Do you have any advice? Would you be willing to do a private lesson/zoom with me to discuss this? I'll pay for your time.
Hi Dustin, yes a private lesson would probably be the most helpful way to talk through this! Shoot me a message via the connect page on my website (natesabat.com) and I’ll get back to you on Monday.
Please, have yuo te possibility to make te bluegrass lessons in a playlist?
It's to easily use.
Thanks
That’s a great idea Ciro! I’ll make that happen soon.
Playlist is up and running! ruclips.net/p/PLSMj0mJEpNyNx_hSAN6vu_NHMMprcF8D4
@@NateSabatBass Many thanks! I will treasure it
I have noticed that most upright bass players stand to the side as in this instruction. I prefer to stand more behind the instrument. I do not need to see the finger board when I play and it just feels more comfortable in my experience.
That’s totally cool in my book, Tim! It’s certainly common when playing with the bow, since you’re going for downward pressure, and works well for pizz too.
