My mom told me not to buy this because old people did not like the word "funky " back in the day. Well I bought it anyway and danced a hole in the floor to this "funky " tune.
I was 2 years old when this song was released. I can remember hearing this when I was 4 or 5 years old and we lived in the projects. My mother had a huge variety of music and I was priviliged to soak all of it up. Soul Man by Sam & Dave is the first song I ever remember...this had to be the second one. Now this is what you call FUNK! The B-Side was called SNATCHIN BACK (I still have my mother's original 45 rpm). THANKS MOM! I wouldn't be the DJ that I am now without you (RIP)
Wolfman Jack played this, the first time I heard it. And I got the chance to dance to it at a back yard party in San Diego; with a vato that had the greenest eyes ever...(The Baja King). Brings back great memories!
This is great Funky Song, i 1st heard it on a 60's compilation album in 1982. It was the best song on that album. They dont make great music like that anymore
This was one of the first records to have the word funky in its title. I worked at a small record store in Pomona, Ca., called House of Records. everyone was shocked at the title and it sold like crazy! Funky was a new word that everyone at school started using.
This was written and produced by Clay McMurray about a year after he co-wrote one of my recordings, "Mama's Little Baby ( is a big girl now)". Clay is one of my Facebook friends!!
Stunning! I don't recall ever hearing this one, but I was away during the military years, so that's probably why I missed this one. Thanks for making it available for us to listen to. It should have been a much bigger hit.
Never heard this song before, Mark Anthony Dyson, my Facebook friend sent me here to listen. Thanks Mark. It reminds me of Sly and the Family Stone's music, so I like it!
I remember looking for this some months ago and I guess I didn't find it, because when it came to mind this morning, I didn't have it. I have it NOW!!! Thank you for a real blast from the past!

kim arnold Hello Kim, im sorry about your father. My mom said he was our cousin, her mom named was Mary Arnold. She died when my mom was very young and my mom lost contact with family on her mom side. We were trying to find our relatives. I know her dad ( Mary Arnold) was Reverend Sylvester Arnold.

Big Hit in Orlando, Fl.
Aretha Franklin should have done a cover. She would have rocked this too.
